I have a few date fields on a form. no matter what i've tried in the properties, the form still loads and there is a default date in there, how do you get rid of this?

The form does not like a blank MaskedTextBox; therefore, when filled - no problem. When left empty, it has a problem. So I wrote this code to populate the column regardless, and will filter out the 2001-01-01 entries in associated reports using Report Viewer. This is less than ideal, so I would like to know if there is a way to make the column as NULL instead of "dummy date" of 2001-01-01?

How can we handle the case where one date is blank in DateDiff method? Example:

In above statement fields txt61_2.Textor txt21_2.Text may be empty then take it has 0

I am trying to have an optional Date value in one of my sub but since you cant set Date to nothing, this doesn't work. And i cant set it to the Date.minvalue inline.

I'm using the ErrorProvider in VB.Net (2005) which is associated with a BindingSource that is bound to a custom object that I have created. This custom object contains a date field that has a "Date" data type that. I am using a "TextBox" to bind the date field in my form. My issue is, whenever the TextBox loses focus and is blank, "String not recognized as a valid DateTime" is displayed by the ErrorProvider and the focus can't be changed to any other control on the Form. It's good that the ErrorProvider validates entries on Date fields by default (I didn't set up my custom object to display this particular error for the date), but it should allow blank values. I want the user to be able to have a blank date with no error message displayed. How can this be done using a Date field bound to a TextBox?
View 2 RepliesI have a field called PODate & TextBox txtPODate.text. It saves/updates fine when the txtPODate is filled. But when the txtPODate is blank, it throws an error. The problem is that I can't enter date for each record unless I got Purchase requisition converted into Purchase Order. Once it is converted to PO, I need to enter the date to update that filed. So, how can I make my program to accept blank date field.

I have 2 Textboxes with Date/Time in them. I want to test if one is less than the other, here is my current code

However if I enter an Start time of 9:00 AM and an End Time of 5:00 PM this triggers the isvalid=false because 5 is less than 9. Doesn't look like it's comparing the date and time just number.

I have 2 fields defined as date/time (short date).
I need to store dates fields which may at times be blank (null), how do I go about that?
I tried using:date.minvalue and that stores the value of 12/30/1899. I would like the field to be blank until the user enters a valid date.
How can I get this to happen? I googled around and it seems setting the CUSTOM FORMAT to " " when the field is null will work but not for a BOUND datetimepicker.

My issue is that even though i changed the VIEW in the DGV to show me the date how i want it, the CSV does not take the displayed date when it writes the lines, it seems to still take the DB date, and then displays it as "dd/MM/yyyy". how am i supposed to tell the CSV Sub to change how the date is displayed in this file ?

View 3 RepliesI have a FormView where I pull data from one table (MS Access), and then insert it (plus more data) into another table. I'm having issues with the dates.The first table has two date fields: date_submitted and date_updated. In some records, date_updated is blank. This causes me to get a data mismatch error when attempting to insert into the second table.It might be because I'm databinding the date_updated field from the first table into a HiddenField on the FormView. It then takes the value from the HiddenField and attempts to insert it into the second table:

I've been running into some errors with converting strings to dates in the following code. I have recently added the intcall.Value = DateTime.Parse(txtIntCallDate.Text) function which had gotten rid of the error message, however the records are not being updated, any of them on the form. Prior to this the strings were being updated just fine. As long as there is a date entered on the form there is no error, if it's left blank i get the "Problem converting string to datetime"

Is there a way to remove default date for DateTimePicker? It defaults to today's date and I couldn't find a way to remove it. For example - when user pulls up a record and there is no date in the field - it shows today's date which is misleading. We could have the cases when the field is not filled in yet and user might think that it has today's date in it when it's actually Null. Basically I need for date fields to be blank initially. We also have the other date fields that might have dates in it but we'd need to remove the value completely. Again - DateTimePicker doesn't allow it. We tried to use masked field as well but run into the problem where existing values with single month/single day (like 1/1 for example) were converted wrong with MM/dd/yyyy mask.

Im building a little program to automate downloading of orders for work but having a few problems.One of the pages has 2 Radio buttons on it, One says "download all" and the other "Download orders for selected dates"Now the radio button i can select fine, It goes to the "download orders for selected dates" one nicely but im having trouble putting the dates in on its own.
The "to" date is ok as it will always be the sate you run the program on so have used the "today.date" string and it puts this in ok. But with the from field i need to be able to select this.
I am using a datetime picker box on my form and can get it to put in the date in the box on the website, But to do this i have to click on the datetimepicker and click on the date, It doesnt already select this.
I would like it so i select the date first and then click my Login button, It goes off to the website and fills in all the details and then the next popup i get is where to save the file.So is there a way for the date time picker to put the current selected date in automatically?

As the properties Value of the date/time picker does not allow to enter the DateTime.Now default value, I have tried to set it in the code:[code]It indeed shows the current date on opening the form with the date/time picker.However one cannot set any other date from the drop down calendar (one can choose a date, what means that the calendar is dropped down allowing to point a date, but after clicking the choice the date/time picker value returns to the current date).

So I made a little program, and when I run it on my computer the Date format displays as DD/MM/YYYY, but when I run it on some other computers it displays as MM/DD/YYYY. Is there anyway to set the default incoming Date format? Or do I just have to be very careful about how I get/set parts of dates?

- first DateTimePicker will show date on 2 month early then current date;
- second DateTimePicker will show current date.
how I can ensure that conversion of a date to a string and a string to a date will give me the same date format.

The date time picker control does not seem to be passing on its default value (which appears to be 'Now'), when bound to a datatable and then saved. I have to select 'today' or pick another time from the popup calendar for that date to be saved.

"2010-08-02", I'm trying to convert it to UTC with the following code snippet..DateTime.ParseExact("2010-08-02Z", "yyyy-MM-ddZ", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)When I print to the console, I get the following: 8/1/2010 5:00:00 PM.Is there a reason why the date shows up as the date before the date I'm trying to parse? I could just add a day to this to advance to the original day.
