Date/TImePicker Available In Windows Forms, Not Web Forms?

I am working on an assignment and just making my way all la de da like...suddenly I approach the end and I am rather happy since I then can start finals. This is where the problem arrises...This is what I am required to do... Create a Web user control that has text boxes and labels for inputting a person'sinformation. Integrate a DateTimePicker control in the web page for selecting dates. Create a procedure to calculate the number of days elapsed from the order date tothe estimated shipping date.I have the first part easily completed...no problems..Unfortunately the second part...the DateTimePicker control, since I am working on a web page, is not available to me...unless I have missed something but I can guarantee you it does not show up in the con

Compare The Date Fields?

May 26, 2010

I have 2 Textboxes with Date/Time in them. I want to test if one is less than the other, here is my current code

Dim StartTime1TextBox As TextBox = TryCast(FormView1.FindControl("StartTime1TextBox"), TextBox)
Dim EndTime1TextBox As TextBox = TryCast(FormView1.FindControl("EndTime1TextBox"), TextBox)
If Not [String].IsNullOrEmpty(StartTime1TextBox.Text) Then

[code]....

However if I enter an Start time of 9:00 AM and an End Time of 5:00 PM this triggers the isvalid=false because 5 is less than 9. Doesn't look like it's comparing the date and time just number.

SQL Data Access: VB2008 / VB2010 - WinForms - Create A Datasourse And Drag / Drop Fields Or Tables On A Form To Create A Grid

Oct 22, 2010

I have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).

My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own
both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.

Date Fields In DGV: Stored Versus Displayed?

Feb 2, 2009

how data is stored in a DB vs how it is displayed in a DataGridView, but i cant come up with a solution to my problem ...I have a DGV being filled by a Datatable. I have set the DGV Date column to format as "yyyy-MM-dd" and it shows that accordingly.

DataGridView1.Columns(9).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "yyyy-MM-dd"

I also have a sub that USED to take the DataTable that filled the DGV and used it to generate a CSV file. But since i had modified how the date was displayed in the DGV i decided to change the CSV Export to use the DGV instead of the DataTable.

Dim writer As System.IO.StreamWriter
writer = File.CreateText(PathToSaveFile)
For intRows As Integer = 0 To DGV.Rows.Count - 1

[code]....

My issue is that even though i changed the VIEW in the DGV to show me the date how i want it, the CSV does not take the displayed date when it writes the lines, it seems to still take the DB date, and then displays it as "dd/MM/yyyy". how am i supposed to tell the CSV Sub to change how the date is displayed in this file ?

Inserting Null Values Into Date Fields?

Apr 20, 2012

I have a FormView where I pull data from one table (MS Access), and then insert it (plus more data) into another table. I'm having issues with the dates. The first table has two date fields: date_submitted and date_updated. In some records, date_updated is blank. This causes me to get a data mismatch error when attempting to insert into the second table. It might be because I'm databinding the date_updated field from the first table into a HiddenField on the FormView. It then takes the value from the HiddenField and attempts to insert it into the second table:

Dim hfDateRequestUpdated As HiddenField = FormView1.FindControl("hfDateRequestUpdated")
myDateRequestUpdated = hfDateRequestUpdated.Value
'... It then attempts to insert myDateRequestUpdated into the database.

Parsing Text Fields As Date In Update Query?

Apr 22, 2009

I've been running into some errors with converting strings to dates in the following code. I have recently added the intcall.Value = DateTime.Parse(txtIntCallDate.Text) function which had gotten rid of the error message, however the records are not being updated, any of them on the form. Prior to this the strings were being updated just fine. As long as there is a date entered on the form there is no error, if it's left blank i get the "Problem converting string to datetime"

Forms :: New Date Doesn't Get Set Until User Has Already Selected A Date

Mar 10, 2009

I have a form that collects user parameters to print a report. There are two DateTimePickers to let the user select a date range for the report. The selection of a date range is optional so I set the From picker to a date before any data could be present. If the user wants to select a date range, the from field is set to a very old date so it takes a long time to get to any current dates. Whe I'd like to do is when the user drops down the picker, reset the date to today and let the user scroll from there.I tried the dropdown even in the picker, but the new date doesn't get set until the user has already selected a date. Any suggestions on how to get this type of UI behavior? Also any better suggestions to streamline the process? The main objective it to collect from and to dates from the user is they want to select them and collect wide ranging dates if the user doesn't enter any.

I changed my VB2008 Express development system from Windows XP to Windows 7.After installing Windows 7 I installed VS2010 with VB2010 Express.Tried that and had issues so I installed VS2008 with VB2008 Express. The application I was developing with VB2008 on my XP system will compile and run in the debug environment with VB2008 on Windows 7 but the Release build (double clicking the .exe in the Release directory) will not. An information box pops up stating the application stopped working. No application Form ever showed up on the screen. I can run a simple application I start from scratch on this new setup. The release .exe compiled on my old XP system fails in the same way. What could be the problem? Hide Primary Key Fields On Forms Like You Can In Access?

Feb 22, 2011

I have noticed that whilst in the past using MS Access you could have a primary key field on a form and have it not visible. You could still use it for Dlookups etc using the value in the field no problem even though it is not visible. In Vb if i hide a textbox that is bound to a PK field in a datasource and try to use its value in code i get an error. Making the field visible again prevents the error. My goal is to use a PK bound textbox not visible to the user but still read its contents.

Also, what is the equivalent of a simple DLOOKUP in VS2010? EG. You have the PK and want to know, say 3 other pieces of information from the record based upon the PK you have.

Controling Dynamic Input Fields - Webbrowser - .Net Forms?

Apr 9, 2011

I have VS 2008 and am working in VB.Net forms.I have a webbrowser control where I am trying to control input fields that are dynamically created. If a text field has proper handles such as id and name tags there aren't any problems. For example, I am trying to work with twitter for posts. I know twitter has an API but I want to work with many similar systems and want to avoid the API as its case specific and I want to scale things within the VB.Net form. The login fields for twitter are easily handled, however
the posting field once your logged in is just a text area with a class. There is a tagname but I have been unable to post using the tagname element.

Ms Access And Vb Combination - Show Every Fields On Vb Forms Without Any Coding

However I have some wrong information in my combo boxes. For example I will have repetition(duration, ie 3 months is showing 5 times). Also when I use the arrows only three records are showing. It says 104 records and only shows 1-3. I have also checked all the data in vb that has been transfered from access and it is all similar, ni repetition.
