Knowing the hWnd and the Title of all the desktop windows, I whould like to order them by start time order (them order on the task bar)In your opinion is there an API that gives those data? I can't use the Process.StartTime property because many of these windows have the Process.MainWindowTitle = "" and Process.MainWindowHandle = 0
Some of u already know I'm making a 'virtual desktop'- thing.Only one problem. When switching to a new desktop it starts a new instance of my app in that desktop (works) and on the form load event it says process.start("explorer.exe") <- here is the problem. It only shows a window not the actually bar. Also this may be important it shows the window, but when I navigate to explorer.exe 'C:Windowsexplorer.exe' and open it there. The explorer bar does show up.
I have a windows 7 computer with vb 2008 express on it. it works really well, except only one thing. when I try to debug an application ( usually windows forms), it produces a run-time error saying: Error while trying to run project; unable to start debugging.
I have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?
im using the timer control, how do i set the start time and finish time? for eg, show a label text for 4 secs then hide. Googled for examples but still no joy.
Im pretty newbie in coding as my only resource of learning Visualbasic is from the internet..And , I would like to disable some key inputs when my application starts.Means i will put the script given by you guys at MyBase.Load.

Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load With Timer1 .Interval = 1000 '// set interval to 1,000, which is 1 second.
How can I set a Column of a Data Type (time) to start from 8:00 A.M?. Since the default data type starts from midnight. Is there a way to create a constraint to set the time to start from 8:00 AM and check whether the inserted time is 8:00 A.M or not ?
When i run the program everything works fine. I want the textboxes to keep the data in them till the next time i run it. Right now when i shut it down (with data in the textboxes) then start it up i have lost all the data.
Heres my code
Private Sub TextBox2_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TextBox2.KeyPress 'Numeric values only If Not Char.IsNumber(e.KeyChar) And Not e.KeyChar = Chr(Keys.Delete) And Not e.KeyChar = Chr
I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work

hi, i am developing a windows application in visual basic 2008. when i will install or setup my application to clients' computers, do i have to install the dot net framework 3.5 in every single pc or i can include dot net framework 3.5 in my application.
I need help on how to launch the normal windows desktop. I have a TCP Client/Server application where the client should start before any other application starts. To do this, I replaced explorer.exe with my application file path in the registry. What I want to do is the client minimizes when it receives a command from the server, and start windows as normal.
I've got a data entry form with 3 date fields which can be null. When I open up the form the fields display as today's date when the value is null.I want to be able to display to the user that the value is null and not some spurious or misleading value.Any ideas on how I can do this?
I changed my VB2008 Express development system from Windows XP to Windows 7.After installing Windows 7 I installed VS2010 with VB2010 Express.Tried that and had issues so I installed VS2008 with VB2008 Express. The application I was developing with VB2008 on my XP system will compile and run in the debug environment with VB2008 on Windows 7 but the Release build (double clicking the .exe in the Release directory) will not. An information box pops up stating the application stopped working. No application Form ever showed up on the screen. I can run a simple application I start from scratch on this new setup. The release .exe compiled on my old XP system fails in the same way. What could be the problem? The application of interest uses an SQL Server CE database. A reference forSystem.Data.SqlServerCe is included in the References. What could be different about running in the debug environment vs running the
I am trying to created a simple media player program. I have a Windows Media Player control on a form (renamed it wmp1) and a listbox that creates a list of filenames from a given folder location. When i click on a filename from the listbox, i set the wmp1.url to the filename in the listbox and all is good as the wmp1 control automatically plays the file chosen form the listbox.
I am trying to overcome a problem I am having with remote desktop.Basically I have 2 machines running in different locations. I use remote desktop to access one of them (the "Remote Machine") from the other.("My PC")The "Remote Machine" is performing automated tasks that require the screen to be active, not the user login screen.
When I do so the Remote Machine logs off and presents the normal windows login screen. When I am finished reviewing the remote machine I log off and then I need to log back into the "remote" machine. It has no monitior but I can log in by pressing the enter key which sends a keypress to log into the user account( there is only one). In fact I do this the other way around. I press the enter key on the "Remote Machine" and this logs the user back in - terminating the remote session on "MyPC".
The problem is I have to physically go to the Remote Machine to press this enter key. This is a hassle - One solution is to remotely re-boot the remote pc but the lead time involved is too great.I am unable to fix this problem by tweaking setting or registry hacks so I guess the solution must be to cause the remote user to log back in programatically.I am an experienced VB user but I have never worked outside the windows environment. Ideally I would like to programmtically send a keystroke "{enter}" to the login screen but this doesn't work.
I'm creating a program that requires an MDI Parent Container to keep its Children inside of the client area. If you didnt understand id like a MDI to have all the forms it creates to stay inside of the actual MDI.
I've said like the windows desktop becuase thats what the windows desktop is. It's basically a realy advanced MDI container. If you know any methods on how to do this as this may be used a lot by future programmers and it would be great to just link this to the same type of question.
