Im pretty newbie in coding as my only resource of learning Visualbasic is from the internet..And , I would like to disable some key inputs when my application starts.Means i will put the script given by you guys at MyBase.Load.

O.o is there a way to hide the desktop start button

Some of u already know I'm making a 'virtual desktop'- thing.Only one problem. When switching to a new desktop it starts a new instance of my app in that desktop (works) and on the form load event it says process.start("explorer.exe") <- here is the problem. It only shows a window not the actually bar.Also this may be important it shows the window, but when I navigate to explorer.exe 'C:Windowsexplorer.exe' and open it there. The explorer bar does show up.

In my program, I would like to make it so that when you press the start button, it does something else INSTEAD of showing the taskbar. How do I modify this code to do that?

I'm making a security program that locks the users screen. I have already figured out how to disable task manager but now I need to disable the task bar from showing and the start menu. Also, trying to do an event on alt+F4 doesn't seem to stop the program from exiting. Any other solutions? This program is intended for security reasons and I am not using it for any viruses.
View 6 RepliesI want to know how to start a forum hidden. I know I can just add Me.Hide() to the Window_Loaded event, But it's ugly. The user sees the form for a split second then it dissapears. I want to form to start up hidden. Little background on my program, it is a small taskbar application, Has a small notify icon. When the app is loaded. I only want the notify icon to be visible. I have done this by creating my own Main subroutine in a Module that I created. and I am laucnhing the application like so

Have built a project and associated it with a Setup&Deployment Project. The S&D project needs to contain 2 main folders (under User's Desktop) with various formats of files (xmls, txts, dlls) inside them and several subfolders. How can i copy/import these 2 folders and there sub-files/folders into my s&d project?
When adding them in the usual way, they are copied and defined a source path onto the current pc. You can understand what errors this might create when an another targeted pc does not contain those files to the exact location. Is there any way to copy them locally or somehow import them?

View 5 RepliesI'm currently working on an application that allows users to select picture files and then categorize them into folders. Now I'm having two issues that are probably simple to fix but I only have a year of experience with vb so I just don't know how to fix them. The first and biggest issue is that once the user has selected and categorized a file, I want the program to select the next file in the folder that the first file was moved from. This way the number of clicks required is minimized. However I have no clue what I would need to do in order to accomplish this. Also, my other problem is that I want to be able to find the indexof a quotation mark but whenever I put it in the parameter it just reads it as a quote.

Issue:When app is loading a bf file to FTP and if user tries to scroll the textbox,the form is hanging and going to Not Responding.?

This is VBA6.5.1040 using an Excel 2007 (12.0.6524.5003) SP2 MSO (12.0.6529.5000) spreadsheet. The aim is to use a cell in which one can type "Y" or "N" in answer to a question. Before proceeding, the code forces the user to choose one or the other (section B). This works perfectly well. I then added the code in section A so that the user could type "y" or "Y". It would then convert "y" to "Y" and the code would proceed as normal, and similarly for "N".
