ShellAppBar : Can Remove The Taskbar But Can't Resize The Desktop's Working Area?
Nov 22, 2009
I created a new ShellAppBar window (similar to the taskbar) but i want it to replace the taskbar. My question is: i can remove the taskbar but can't resize the desktop's working area, so my appbar is sitting above the taskbar (which is not even there).
How do I make a Taskbar / Notification Area like the Windows Vista TaskBar/Notification Area? What objects would i need to use, what codes would i need to use?(I'm making a application that looks like your desktop but its not a real desktop, but it edits REAL stuff in the openfiledialog & save)
I'm wondering if anyone can point me to any documentation for interacting with the taskbar notification area(system tray)? Note I am not looking to make an application that shows in the taskbar notification area, as I already know how to do this, but rather how to get information and interact with what is already there.
Since we have to resize the combo box dropdown area based on the combo box item length, used the drawstring() to add items to combo based on the item length. This gave us the below issue: On moving the cursor on the drop down area the font color and the background color are back hence the text is not readable (i.e. the whole item becomes black).
Below piece of code is used to achieve this, Private Sub cboClient_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) [Code] .....
We tried changing font color and the dropdown area backcolor on selecting a particular item. How to make the text readable (i.e. the font color should change while if we scroll on the item).
Im pretty newbie in coding as my only resource of learning Visualbasic is from the internet..And , I would like to disable some key inputs when my application starts.Means i will put the script given by you guys at MyBase.Load.
Basically back in VB6 days, I created several VB6 apps with Access as the backend database. I'd package my Access db file with the application setup, which copied it on to a shared network drive, and then different computers on the LAN could use the same backend database file, and that worked just fine. With SQL and VB .Net, I've done work with a SQL database hosted on a remote server, so you can basically build your query string easily and anyone can connect to it from anywhere, and it works just fine. However, what I'd like to do is have a local SQL express database as the backend for a VB .Net application and make a setup program that can install it in a way that it could be shared on a Local area network, without the user who is installing the application do anything.
I know about building a connection string with the local machine name, but I don't really have any experience with including an actual MDF file with the application. Does anyone know how it works, and is it a better approach? Does it work similar to placing an access file in a shared unc path?I know that ClickOnce (which is awesome) can install SQL express easily on a user's machine. However, the key is that I want SQL express to be installed only on the machine that is going to be the database server in a LAN enviornment, and not on every machine, unless it is neccesseary. And then how does your VB app know how to build the connection string to access the database from any machine on the local share?
does anyone know how to remove another application's taskbar icon from the taskbar but leaving the window still visible on the desktop for the user to use? I need to do this during runtime using the window handle if that is possible,
For my own personal use, I'd like to code an app that disables the icon on the upper left of the window titlebars and in the taskbar of ms windows. This is how it should look when it's done: [URL] (this little autohotkey script is broken in win 7). Is this is feasable in vb? If yes, how do I communicate with the win os? Maybe get a list of active windows and redraw them and the taskbar after replacing their icon by a blank one in memory?
How do I remove the area in a dropdown menu where the menu item icons are typically displayed?
I just need to remove the grey area in this particular dropdown, other dropdowns of menu items in the same menu bar need to retain this area because they do have icons.
When I press "Show Desktop" button in the taskbar my main form "disappears". The only way to show it again is by pressing an other program which is open in the taskbar (lets say Word) to rise and unrise again.
I have a Form with a StatusStrip Component docked at the bottom. The form has fixed width and is not resizable. However the StatusStrip has a little 'resize triangle' at the right. (6 little dots)This gives the impression that the window is resizable.
The default MDI parent control has a large "desktop" area that can display multiple child forms. Users can drag forms to the edge of this desktop area so that most of the child form is off the screen. (A scroll bar then appears in the MDI parent) I don't like this feature. Is there a way to lock down the edge of the desktop area so that the child forms remain fully visible?
I'm looking for a control that allows images to be placed onto it and moved about. Moreover, I need to draw lines between the images. It will sort of be like the query designer in SQL Man Studio. It will be used as a virtual desktop where a variety of objects (and their icon representations) can be freely placed and moved. I'm having a blank and cant remember where I saw this before.
In VB.NET I used wscript.shell to add a shortcut to the desktop. I didn't realize it created the shortcut on the "All Users" desktop, which means I can't delete it. I don't have admin rights as this is my work computer, and asking for admin isn't an option. WScript.Shell has a createshortcut method but not a remove shortcut method! I've been googling for days with no luck. Windows XP Pro 2002, SP3.
Finally "upgraded" to vbnet and got no idea how to do this! What I'm doing is using bitblt to take a screenshot of the desktop and put it in a picturebox. What I really need is just the raw data from the picture, not the picture showing on a picturebox.
Only problem is that it is not working at all!
Here is the entire sourcecode. How is it not working??
Module1 Module Module1 Public Declare Function GetDesktopWindow Lib "user32" () As Long Public Declare Function BitBlt Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hDCDest As Long, _
I have a form in an application I'm working on that normally displays full screen without a taskbar but provide the option to switch to a minimizable window with a taskbar. When I switch from full screen without taskbar to minimizable window with taskbar everything is ok. When I try to switch back to full screen the border disappears but the taskbar is still there and the form is not aligned properly. The text at the top is cut off somewhat and there's a small margin at the right edge that shouldn't be there.I put this code in a keydown event for the form.
If Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None Then Me.ControlBox = True Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.Sizable[code]....
How do I get the taskbar to disappear and the form to display properly when I return to the full screen mode?
In my project i have moving picturebox array & if they intersect treeview will disable.& when i rightclick on the picturebox it will delete. After deleting picturebox its effects still there. When other picturebox moving on that deleted area still treeview is disabled.i used this code.
Dim asd As String() = TextBox3.Text.Split(vbNewLine) Dim asd1 As String() = TextBox1.Text.Split(vbNewLine) Dim asd2 As String() = TextBox2.Text.Split(vbNewLine) Dim count As Integer
[code]....
i need to remove the vbnewlines from the array but its not working, the array populates by braking multiline textsbox's up from vbnewline but seems to keep the newlines.
Trying to set the viewable area to a smaller screen area and have it cycle through as the person moves using collision detection to move the backgroudn image. Here is the start but its off to a bad start so far.
Public Class Form1 Dim Mapx As Integer = 600 Dim Mapy As Integer = 2000
[code]....
Basically the forum size is set to 600x2000 but the client should only allow you to view 600x600. I want it to add +1 once you "collide with a invisable box I'll add and this will redraw the screen.
I designed a form and managed to fit graphics inside it. Picture box is 465 pixels high. Form1 is 500 pixels high. SnapShot of the screen verifies that the 500 pixel height is the overal height. It includes the upper Bar and lower frame. Is there an instruction to set the From's inner pixel size and not overal?
I have an event called "worksheet_selectionchanged" which occurs when a range/cell is selected in an excle file. When the event is triggered, all the tabpages in a tabcontrol should be removed. The code is given below:
Private Sub myWorksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Excel.Range) Handles myWorksheet.SelectionChange for each tabpagesToRemove as TabPage in tabcontrol1.tabpages tabcontrol1.tabpages.remove(tabpagesToRemove)
[code]....
but when ever i select a cell in the excel file, the tabpages seems to be "not removed".
I have the following string [custID] = 'A99999999' I am trying the following to remove the square brackets and the single quotes Regex.Replace(sql, "/[[]']+/g", " ") but that's not working. I keep getting the same results Note: sql is a variable holding the string above. I want the result to be
My application uses several checkedlistbox controls, datagridviews, and textboxes.I'm using the checked list box to provide a more intuitive interface for the users -- they know what they selected by the check mark.I have a binding source for all the individual textboxes (they are in one table) and a binding source for the datagridviews.I use the insertonsubmit and deleteonsubmit for changes made in the listboxes.I can then use the getchangeset to determine if any changes were made to the record. My problem is that sometimes a user only wants to "test" inputs to a record but may not want to have those changes actually made to the database -- or an error was made and they want to "undo" the inputs. How do I remove the unwanted changes and allow the user to continue working with the original data?
I created so many listviews in my project, that im too lazy to add to each listview a resize event with percentages. Is there any other trick, who just scales the columns so as they are?
I'm starting work updating an UI for one of my company's applications and I'm running into a sticky issue. The parent control contains several panels, each of which can be turned on or off depending on user input.
The final panel in the user control contains another user control which gets resizes according to a toggle switch. Essentially, it "opens" up more information.
While the child control (ChildControl) is docked to Fill inside the parent control (ParentControl), when I add height to ChildControl I can't get ParentControl's height to get updated as well. Currently I'm handling the ChildControl.Layout event in ParentControl but I can't seem to reach that code. To resize ChildControl, I'm calling Me.Height += 200 in ChildControl.vb.
