How to disable other controls when an item is selected from a different combo box. When someone selects a specific item from the combo box provided, It should automatically disable other controls specified to be disable.

The reason is so the user will not have a blank return on a query. The first form I created like this worked great, no issues. This form only allows one combo box (Number_of_Lightheads) to disable any others. Below is the code I have for this Form. why the other combo boxes will not disable the ones that are called out in the code?

I have two comboboxes on my form and both are bound to the same datatable. The problem is that each time a value is selected from one combobox, the value in the other combobox changes to the value selected in the former. Is there anyway to disable this behaviour?Only performance counts!
View 2 RepliesIn my Windows Form I have a ComboBox that is filled by a Stored Procedure with a list of names. I have the Combobox set for AutoComplete to "Suggest" and From "ListItems". When a user starts to type in and the AutoComplete does not find any matches in the listitems the user can tab out of the ComboBox and leave what they typed in the combobox even though it is not one of the Valid Items. Is there a way to check the Comboxbox to make sure of of the selected Items has been selected?

What I'm trying to do is create an app which will be hidden, and then need to be unhidden from "anywhere." For example, if I have an Excel spreadsheet open, I want to be able to use a combo like Ctrl+U to Unhide my program, but I do NOT want it to underline the text in the cell I'm currently in (which Excel will normally do). I don't want to worry about disabling or changing shortcut combinations for Excel, Word, etc.

However when the form is loaded, I initially want to set the current drop down box item from the database, then AFTER I have set the current value, I want this event to work. Problem is from the get go when the form loads it asks me the question as its being changed from 'no data' to then be populated with a bunch of data and an item selected.

I currently have my cute little first program made... I'm just stepping into the water with this programming thing. I made a program where you can select a shape from a drop-down list and then input some values and click a button and get the area of the shape. I have it working so that when a certain shape is chosen, certain fields are disabled, such as when you pick "circle" from the combo box, the "length", "width", and "number of sides" text boxes are disabled but the "radius" text box is enabled, thus allowing you to enter the radius and find the area. I want to make it so that when you first load the program, all of the text boxes for the length, width, number of sides and radius are disabled until you select a shape from the list. Currently I'm using

This works for disabling the correct boxes when something is selected, but I don't know if I'm even on the right path with that first part.

View 6 RepliesFor some reason, before the selectedindexchanged sub routine finishes, combobox Description is still pointing on the last selectedindex changed and the combobox Image is on the actual current selected index changed. Once it exits the routine both combobox are in the current value.
I cant see why this is happening, causing a lot of trouble.

I ahve a combox (cbnames) on a login form which is populated with items. I make a selection and click on ok. Form1 appears and I have a textbox which I want to fill with the selected item from the combo box.
However, on form1 (view code) I don't appear to see cbnames. cbnames is available on the login form. How do i make a combobox public? or accessible to other forms?

My asp.net page has multiple text-boxes and DropDownLists that all have required-field validators.
My site also has multiple pages that you can move between with the click of a button. (All pages have all the buttons) When a page loads and decide I want to go to a different page without entering information into the form, I click a button to move to a separate page and the validation pops up and I can't change the page, it stops me every time?
I am using a masterpage. On a accounts page I have a Usercontrol on this UserControl I have one more user control. If Account is closed I want to Disable all the controls on Accounts page (including parent and child userControl - controls collection).
