I need a pattern for an asp.net validator that's for a phone extension field on the entry part of the page. I need it to allow a single digit up to 5 digits. I was able to use this pattern "d{5}?" until the requirements changed to "up to 5 digits" on me.
Does vb 2010 have a 'REQUIRED" property or control that allow you to make a textbox a "required" field? I googled and saw something about required property in controls in toolbox but somehow I could not find it anywhere in my vb 2010 toolbox. Would it be easier to write it? Does anyone have sample code?
I need to set validation on a textbox where the user types in their email address... This is not a required field though so I want to allow the form to be submitted if the textbox contains the default text ("Email address").I've posted the code i have already to ensure a valid email address is typed.
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator CssClass="errorpopup" Display="Dynamic" ID="regexpEmail" ValidationGroup="mySubmit" runat="server" ErrorMessage="<strong>Please enter a valid email address.</strong>" ControlToValidate="tbEmail" ValidationExpression="w+([-+.']w+)*@w+([-.]w+)*.w+([-.]w+)*" SetFocusOnError="true" />
I'm using VB 2008 with .Net 3.5 and I want to check that a combo box has a selected value greater than 0 (default = Nothing Selected) before allowing the user to move off the tab page to another tab page. The Leave event does not allow me to cancel and the Validating event on the tab page does not fire unless the user has at least visited the combo box field.
I have 5 combobox and they are required. I would like the user to put input or select the combobox. If no input, msgbox comes up then he has to insert input or click on a custom cancel button i have made.
I have 2 text boxes one for email and one for Name. If text is entered in email I want to make Name required field. How can I do this using .net validation controls?
I'm trying to use the ExceptionMessageBox to prompt a user that a field is required. I'm getting a syntax error saying "Type 'ExceptionMessageBox' is not defined". I added the ExceptionMessageBox as a reference, but still has that same error. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.
Here's the code:
The bolded part is where I'm getting an error.
Try If rptAcctNo = 0 Then Throw New ApplicationException("Error occurred")
I have used ADOX for create some fields in my database in access but the required property of this appended fields (columns) are set in "yes" but I want to be them "No" who knows how can I solve this problem
On my form i use binding source bound to fields.. if a user starts to change something then hits cancel (i set all the fields to "" to clear them) and then if they choose that record again it shows nothing in the bound fields..

I have a VB.Net application that is using an Accss 2003 Database (Design Master) and I'd like to run an SQL Transact command to make an existing text field requried. So far I have tried the following and both appear to give an error and do not make my field "Required" (IS NOT NULL).
ALTER TABLE tblJobs ADD CONSTRAINT LeadSourceNotNull CHECK (LeadSource IS NOT NULL) ALTER TABLE tblJobs ALTER COLUMN LeadSource IS NOT NULL
simple method to make an existing Access 2003 Table field required?
PS: I will be running a query to make all row entries that have a null in the LeadSource field equal to "Unknown" before I ALTER TABLE?
How to disable other controls when an item is selected from a different combo box. When someone selects a specific item from the combo box provided, It should automatically disable other controls specified to be disable.
I have Listbox, that I want to assign primary key, and a text (eg. students table). So i wrote this code.
mySQLCmd.CommandText = "SELECT studentname, studentid FROM studentstable WHERE Year(DOB) = " + selectedYear Dim dt As New DataTable myReader = myCmd.ExecuteReader()
[code]....
When I select something on the listbox, both of selecteditem and selectedvalue properties just return the student name, not the student id. So I get this error.
Error on Line2. Conversion from string "RichardCole" to type 'Integer' is not valid.I don't know why? So i do i get the studentid value back ? I need to know the ID coz name can't use as PK so.
My problem is I have a data grid in Visual Basic, it works fine but as the columns extend past the width of the window I needed a scroll bar. This is where the problem arose. When a column past the 4th is clicked the scrollbar will shift to give it focus. As there are check boxes here they are constantly clicked and when they are the scroll bar shifts but the button isn't checked and must be clicked again. I was hoping there was a way to disable this Auto focus so clicking a column will not cause the scrollbar to move.
I would like my website to allow users to download files which are stored as blobs on the database, the database holds fileID fileName and theFile. I have a grid view with two columns, fileName and a template column, which is databound to fileID and has a linkbutton. When the link is clicked it calls to a function which downloads the file. The function needs the fileID to download the file, how do I get the fileID bound to the selected linkbutton.
I'm looking for the easiest way to bind data from a SqlDataSource to textboxes dropped in Visual Studio 2008.For example, I have 4 textboxes currently that have Address, City, State, Zip.I also have a SqlDataSource on the page fetching the ID of the record and selecting those 4 fields based on ID. How am I able to quickly bind each box to those particular fields selected? I would think this would be really straight forward - but seems it's not. Seems like the answer is funneled towards having to create a GridView or some type of control.
I have an Entity Data Model with two entities in it "Roles" and "Users". There is a navigation property from I have a EntityDataSource and a GridView. The EntityDataSource points to the Users entity and has an Include="Roles" parameter.I've added a BoundField in the GridView that points to RoleName, a property of the entity Roles. However, when I execute the code I get the above error.I have used very similar code successfully in another application. Any ideas why this isn't working?
