I'm using VB 2008 with .Net 3.5 and I want to check that a combo box has a selected value greater than 0 (default = Nothing Selected) before allowing the user to move off the tab page to another tab page. The Leave event does not allow me to cancel and the Validating event on the tab page does not fire unless the user has at least visited the combo box field.
Does vb 2010 have a 'REQUIRED" property or control that allow you to make a textbox a "required" field? I googled and saw something about required property in controls in toolbox but somehow I could not find it anywhere in my vb 2010 toolbox. Would it be easier to write it? Does anyone have sample code?
I need to set validation on a textbox where the user types in their email address... This is not a required field though so I want to allow the form to be submitted if the textbox contains the default text ("Email address").I've posted the code i have already to ensure a valid email address is typed.
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator CssClass="errorpopup" Display="Dynamic" ID="regexpEmail" ValidationGroup="mySubmit" runat="server" ErrorMessage="<strong>Please enter a valid email address.</strong>" ControlToValidate="tbEmail" ValidationExpression="w+([-+.']w+)*@w+([-.]w+)*.w+([-.]w+)*" SetFocusOnError="true" />
I have three required field validator ,in that 2nd validator should not fire even if I don't enter any any value in the textbox. I tried with Javascript. But couldnt do it.
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]"> <head runat="server"> <title>Untitled Page</title> <script language ="javascript" type ="text/javascript" > function step2() [Code] .....
I have 5 combobox and they are required. I would like the user to put input or select the combobox. If no input, msgbox comes up then he has to insert input or click on a custom cancel button i have made.
I have 2 text boxes one for email and one for Name. If text is entered in email I want to make Name required field. How can I do this using .net validation controls?
I'm trying to use the ExceptionMessageBox to prompt a user that a field is required. I'm getting a syntax error saying "Type 'ExceptionMessageBox' is not defined". I added the ExceptionMessageBox as a reference, but still has that same error. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.
Here's the code:
The bolded part is where I'm getting an error.
Try If rptAcctNo = 0 Then Throw New ApplicationException("Error occurred")
I have used ADOX for create some fields in my database in access but the required property of this appended fields (columns) are set in "yes" but I want to be them "No" who knows how can I solve this problem
I have a VB.Net application that is using an Accss 2003 Database (Design Master) and I'd like to run an SQL Transact command to make an existing text field requried. So far I have tried the following and both appear to give an error and do not make my field "Required" (IS NOT NULL).
ALTER TABLE tblJobs ADD CONSTRAINT LeadSourceNotNull CHECK (LeadSource IS NOT NULL) ALTER TABLE tblJobs ALTER COLUMN LeadSource IS NOT NULL
simple method to make an existing Access 2003 Table field required?
PS: I will be running a query to make all row entries that have a null in the LeadSource field equal to "Unknown" before I ALTER TABLE?
I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.
I am just making the switch from WebForms to MVC and would like to ask what are the best ways of hiding particular fields in the view. Assuming we have a model named WishList that has a list of gifts kids want for Christmas and the child's name. We want the elves to view the list of gifts, but only Santa Claus can view the child's name. Would it be best to have two views for the WishList (one for Santa and one for the elves) or is there another way to handle this? My concern is that the number of views can start piling as high as the snow does in the North Pole by the time I enforce all of the visibility settings required in my application.
I am using Page.ClientScript.RegisterHiddenField("hf_Name",value) in an ASP.net application, how to override or assign a new value to the same Hidden Field 'hf_Name' in code behind?
I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.
I need a pattern for an asp.net validator that's for a phone extension field on the entry part of the page. I need it to allow a single digit up to 5 digits. I was able to use this pattern "d{5}?" until the requirements changed to "up to 5 digits" on me.
I've written a program using Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition in Visual Basic. It's a Windows Forms Application. The program is very simple, it just reads a directory of text files, parses the text and outputs another text file as .CSV file for import into Excel. There's no user interaction required but it never displays the form and therefore the progress bar. If I put a GO button on the form and modify the program so that the subroutine that does the processing isn't called until the user clicks GO it shows the form and the progress bar etc. How can I make the program run at startup, show the form, show the progress bar and then pause for 10 seconds or so and then exit?
i am read the email address from the notepad using.[code]after that i assign the value to email.from.In debug mode, i traced and found the value assign in to mail.from is an valid email.. but ! the error still come out [code]
The following is my function. The error occurs when I try and set the from email address. It gives me an error: "The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address." But the email address is in a perfectly legitimate format (I changed the email so I don't get killed with web-crawlers pulling addresses, but it is the exact same format). Hope someone can see what I am obviously missing.
Private Function EmailResult(ByVal strFilePath As String, ByVal strClientID As String) As String Dim CIFunctions As New CISDTSAuto.CISDTSFunctions Dim strEmailAddresses As String()
The values for the hidden fields are already set. I want these value to open a window, in which the fields will be already filled using the values passed by this page. This code is working fine on Internet Explorer, but not on other browsers. Moreover, when I don't pass any value and just open the required window, it works on all browsers.
I am building a program where all the inputs (10) required from the user are asked on one form. Since it is not possible to let fields blank on the database, I would like to know how can I build an 'IF' saying that if all fields are full, then the database CAN save all the input. So that if there are any field blank, it won't save. I just dont know how to do the database condition. Thats all.
