Add Another View To Display Same Page With One Less Field?
Nov 10, 2010
I am just making the switch from WebForms to MVC and would like to ask what are the best ways of hiding particular fields in the view. Assuming we have a model named WishList that has a list of gifts kids want for Christmas and the child's name. We want the elves to view the list of gifts, but only Santa Claus can view the child's name. Would it be best to have two views for the WishList (one for Santa and one for the elves) or is there another way to handle this? My concern is that the number of views can start piling as high as the snow does in the North Pole by the time I enforce all of the visibility settings required in my application.
So i've been working on a page for a project where the person logs into a login page and then can see a list from the database of employees. everything is working except for one problem. If someone puts in a username and password, username= a and password=b, for example it still allows that individual to view the next page and doesn't throw the error that i have enbedded on the login page to say sorry you have the incorrect password/username. The working code that i have so far is below:
I have more than 30,000 rows in a table. It takes a lot of time to load all the data in the gridview. So I want to display 100 rows at a time. When I click next page button, another 100 rows should be displayed. When I click previous page button, previous 100 rows should be displayed. If I type page 5 in a text box, then I want to jump over to the 5th lot of rows.
I also want to display how many pages there will be. Can we implement this concept in vb.net [winform] gridview. I am using database PostgreSQL.
I have an admin page where a user will select a document path and add that path to a certain column of a database. I am using a fileupload on the page where they can find the document and copy the path and then paste it into the details view. However, I want to skip this step and I want them to select a document and automatically make the path show up in the details view.
I need to get the fileupload1 into the DOC contenttemplate area so instead of showing an empty textbox it will show just a textbox it will show the fileupload
I am trying to write a program that will access a remote database and let the user edit different tables that are in the database. My program currently connects to the database however I do not know how to select or display a particular table to the user.
I'm using VB 2008 with .Net 3.5 and I want to check that a combo box has a selected value greater than 0 (default = Nothing Selected) before allowing the user to move off the tab page to another tab page. The Leave event does not allow me to cancel and the Validating event on the tab page does not fire unless the user has at least visited the combo box field.

I am using Page.ClientScript.RegisterHiddenField("hf_Name",value) in an ASP.net application, how to override or assign a new value to the same Hidden Field 'hf_Name' in code behind?
Under Options/HTML Designer/General There is the option of starting pages in either Source View or Design view. I'm now doing Windows Forms and when I open a vb page it is usually to do something to the code. I would like the page tp open in Source View but cant find a similar option for Windows Form Designer.
I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 project that renders conventional strongly typed pages, but on some of these pages I also want to use the page's object to render a specific area (div) in the navigation section of the Master Page.
For example, if I have a Client object and associated strongly typed View, I want the View to be able to insert client-specific navigation items within a div in the Master Page's navigation.
I've actually achieved this in a not very elegant fashion by creating a ViewData item to hold the Client object - this is in addition to returning the client object with the View. The Master Page then takes the ViewData object and, if it's not null, renders the client-specific navigation section. This way of doing things will get very ugly as the number of different objects that have to be handled increases.
i have a button that grabs a text file depending on what the user types in a text box.And then it loads the text file and makes an HTML report on an external browser. Thats all good. But i want another button under that button that does exatly the same thing but it displays the html in a form using Web Browser for vb.net. 2008 version by the way. so i have two buttons, depending on what the user pushes. same html is produced, but one is in external browser while the other is in form. Here is code i used for first button
Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim sFilename As String sFilename = ("E:\RMIT WORK\Testing\" & txtOfficeID.Text & ".txt") If Not File.Exists(sFilename) Then
Yes I made A webrowser In Visual basic 8 & I was woundering Like How Would I view The web Pages Source Code In My Program.so like I type in the textbox1 like [url]...

I have an application I'm currently working on that requires Administrators to be able to track the views of a ticket and it's duration.I've got the tracking of the number of views by users sorted out, I have a table that contains a TicketID, UserID and a DateOpened. Each time a user visits the page, a new row will be inserted. However, the way I would like to track the duration of views is by having a DateClosed field in the table which will allow me to work out view duration in the code as opposed to storing the time directly.
I can't use Google Analytics or anything Third Party for the task either due to internal policy as it's an intranet application. What would be the best way to achieve filling this field on page exit?
I am using the ASP.NET MVC VB.NET XML Literals View Engine created by Dmitry Robsman and described on his blog in this post.
[URL]
I would like to create strongly typed view pages using this view engine, but it doesn't seem to contain the requisite VbView(Of TModel) generic type by which I would create such a view class.
The end result should look something like this:
Namespace Views.Client Public Class Details(Of Models.Client) Inherits SiteMaster
[Code]....
Once there is a VbView(Of TModel) class that inherits from Dmitry's VbView class, how to hook that up so that it works with standard MVC controllers that call the view like this.
Function Details(ByVal id As Integer) As ActionResult Dim c = SomeGetClientFunction(id) Return View(c) End Function
Like in firefox or Internet Explorer where you can right click and view the html page source how can you do this in an app?I have a web browser in the form and I'm trying to view the web page in the web browser and then view the source code of that page in a box below it.
I need a pattern for an asp.net validator that's for a phone extension field on the entry part of the page. I need it to allow a single digit up to 5 digits. I was able to use this pattern "d{5}?" until the requirements changed to "up to 5 digits" on me.
I know i can run webforms and mvc views in seperate files, but i want to run the web server control output and events in/on the mvc view page, however, i keep getting this compiler error:
Line 38: <CuteWebUI:Uploader ID="UploadPic" runat="server" UploadType="IFrame" Line 39: FileTooLargeMsg="{0} cannot be uploaded! File size ({1}) is too large. The maximum file size allowed is set to: {2}." Line 40: TempDirectory="~/UserData/Images/TemporaryImages" UploadingMsg="Uploading..."
[code]....
i don't know what else do do, it just wont recognize the control name when im writing the event signature, right after the "handles" keyword, comes the server control name and then a dot, and then the event name, but as events its just giving me "Me", "MyBase" and "MyClass" options to run events for... doesn't let me access "FileUpload.OnFileUploaded" which is the control name & event name i want to write the sub routine method declaration (and subsequently method) and signature for.
I use a GridView control with paging allowed, when i select a row in the first page i can retrieve the values of all the fields including the hiddenfields with the instruction (GridView1.DataKeys(GridView.SelectedIndex).Values(0)). The grid have all the DataKeyNames and I populate the gridwith a dataset i made coding.now the problem:when I change the paging of the grid the grid shows me the real data, but when I tried to select one row
I need to populate single record at a time based on the search criteria. For example I have employee_name and the other personal information of an employee. I need to display a single record at a time based on the name entered by the user(The important point here is that I need to populate the name combo box here for the employee to select the name). I do not want the results to be displayed as a datagridview. I think I can do this if it is a datagrid view but I want display each field one below the other separately as a single record.
I have a combobox which reads a directory and displays the file names in the combobox. What I'm trying to do is when a value is selected in the combobox I wish to display this in a label.
I have tried the following
Label1.Text = Combobox1.SelectedValue
But it doesn't seem to work.
My coding to display value in the combobox
With Combobox1 .DisplayMember = "Name" .ValueMember = "FullName"
[Code]....
I have the first snippet of coding in the Combobox1_SelectedIndexChanged event.
The "FullName" works with textbox1 when i select a value in the combobox but I want to display the "Name" in label1.text

I have made a report in crystal reports 10 in that i want the field only displays data without the special characters like its showing 11-00-3200-002-37 but i want it would show the field like this 1100320000237 without (-). so does any one help me to do this in crystal reports 10 not in application or software code.
The values for the hidden fields are already set. I want these value to open a window, in which the fields will be already filled using the values passed by this page. This code is working fine on Internet Explorer, but not on other browsers. Moreover, when I don't pass any value and just open the required window, it works on all browsers.
I have written an application which extracts a list of URL's (currently in Internet Explorer cache) from an XML file and displays them in a data grid view. From here i would like to launch Internet Explorer in a hidden mode and capture an image for each of the selected URL's in the data grid view. Is this possbile? If so what is the best way to go about it?
