Apr 17, 2010In a winforms application (VB, VS2008 SP1) i bound a checkbox field to a SQL Server 2005 BIT field. The databinding itself seems to work, there is this litte problem: user creates a new record and checks the checkbox, then the user decides to create a new record (without having saved the previous, so there are 2 new records to be submitted) and checks also the second.

VS 2008 One Line Txt Display Of Saved File
Jul 16, 2009I saved a text file. The text characters were in RichTextBox iwth multiple lines. I used
RichTextBox1.AppendText(ControlChars.Cr) or RichTextBox.AppendText(ControlChars.Lf)
at the end of each line, but when I opened this text file using NotePad, all lines were displayed with ONE line. The strange thing is: if I open the same text file using other editors, .e.g. an IDE of Microchip or Freescale or Multi-edit...the text display had multiple lines as expected.
What should I do to make display as expected in NotePad?

Jun 2, 2010What I am trying tot achieve is the following:User inputs data in one form that saves to the dataset table no problems. On an edit screen I want the current data saved to appear in this page within all the relevant fields but when saving I want this data to add to the dataset table as an additional line of data so the transaction records are kept.I want to add a new datarow regardless of it saving one change or all 7 changes that are possble.
e.g. Line 1 - user inputs 7 cells of data Line 2 - user amends 2 cells of data Line 3 - user amends 1 cell of data an so on. Unfortunately the terminology for certain items above may not be correct as I am still new to this programming and still on a massive learning curve.At the moment I do not have the code for what I am trying to achieve as I really dont know where to start with it.I am currently able to save the data and have it appear in the "edit" panel however only the cells changed are saved an it overwirtes the initial input.

Display Previous Shadow Copy Versions Of File Allowing User To Choose One?
Dec 11, 2011I'm writing an Excel file recovery program with VB.Net that tries to be a convenient place to gather and access Microsoft's recommended methods. The basic functionality seems to work although I haven't tested graph macro table recovery yet.
It occurred to me that Vista and Windows 7 users could benefit from being offered a list of previous versions of the file within my application if the Shadow Copy Service is on and there are previous copies. How do I do this?I looked at a lot of web pages but found no easy to crib code. One possibility I guess would be to use vssadmin via the shell but that is pretty cumbersome. I just want to display a dialogue box like the Previous Versions property sheet and allow users to pick one of the previous versions. I guess I could just display the previous version property sheet via the shell by programmatically invoking the context menu and the "Restore previous versions choice", however I also want to be able to offer the list for Vista Home Basic and Premium Users who don't have access to that tab even though apparently the previous versions still exist. Additionally if it possible I would like to offer XP users the same functionality although I'm pretty sure with XP only the System files are in the shadow copies.
I looked at MSDN on the Shadow Copy Service and went through all the pages, I also looked at AlphaVSS and AlphaFS and all the comments. I'm kind of guessing that I need to use AlphaVss and AlphFS and do the following?Find out the list of snapshots/restore points that exist on the computer.Mount those snapshots.Navigate in the mounted volumes to the Excel file the user wants to recover and make a list of those paths.With the list of paths handy, compare with some kind of diff program, the shadow copies of the files with the original.Pull out the youngest or oldest version (I don't think it matters) of those shadow copies that differ from the recovery target.List those versions of the files that are found to be different.This seems cumbersome and slow, but maybe is the fastest way to do things. I just need some confirmation that is the way to go now.

My problem is when the new data comes out from the API, if it is equal to the previous data and it will appear 0. But what i want is the new data comes out is 0 and it will equal to previous data. e.g: first data comes out is 12.00, in above case, if the second data comes out is 12.00 but it will shows 0 which means unchanged. But in my case now, i want if the first data come out is 12.00, then if the next data is unchanged (0) and it will appear 12.00 and so on.

Dec 22, 2009Using VB 2008 Express, I've constructed a simple database type app for saving contacts. The table data I save at design time is always saved correctly but data entered at run time seems to get saved even after closing the app and VB. However, after restarting the computer, the newly entered data is usually gone. Why would this be? I've seen a few video tutorials on creating simple database apps and did everything they did and am getting the same problem. I thought it was a configuration problem so I actually re-installed Windows and VB 2008 Express (as well as 2010 Beta 2). I have noticed that in the database explorer, the .mdf file has a red x to the bottom right of the yellow database icon and when I click the + it seems to turn into a black plug. Is this normal?

Oct 6, 2010I have 2 applications that collect data every 5 minutes and imports that data into a SQL Server 2005 table. Every so often the location that I'm quering to get the data hasn't updated thier values so the application is trying to insert duplicate data into the database table. Because I have Primary Keys set on 2 of the 3 columns the insert fails which of course causes an error in my application.What I am needing to do is if it runs into a duplicate insert wait 1 minute or so and then retry running the download data Sub.Each sub calls the next sub in the process line.
