RichTextBox And Displaying Jpeg Images
Sep 4, 2009I'm having a problem with displaying JPEG images in a RichTextBox. When I insert a JPEG image into a RTB it automatically gets converted to a wmetafile8 and displays correctly - however, if i insert a JPEG image into file via another method (currently using the web) it get saved as a jpegblip (as you would expect) but the RTB will not display it. Opening the rtf document in Word displays the image correctly.I have tried this with png and gif files also but none of the images will display unless they are wmetafiles. Is this a limitation with the RichTextBox or is there another reason?

Jun 12, 2011I'm trying to make a way for them to export orders to a .rtf file. In order to preserve formatting (bold, underline, etc.), I'm creating a RichTextBox (through code) and formatting the text appropriately. To save the output, I'm simply using the RichTextBox.SaveFile method. Now, to list all of the products that were sold in the order, I'm deriving the information from a ListView. The ListView contains the product name, product price, and quantity sold of that product. I cannot find a way to list the output in a table-like structure, so I tried making a DataGridView and pasting it onto the RichTextBox. Unfortunately, this didn't work at all, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what I can do. I can't simply use Tabs to space out the information because it doesn't get formatted nicely.

Jul 25, 2010The new issue is that the knife item gets added to the listbox, but when I click on it...the picture isn't displayed in the picture box, and the description isn't displayed in the rich text box. I have the image path and name correct. I have no idea why the description isn't going in the text box.

VS 2008 Displaying Data On A New Line In RichTextBox
Oct 6, 2009I am using VB2008 Express. In my program I have a loop that is updating variables. As these variables are updated, the updated information must be displayed in the RichTextBox. Everything works fine and I can display my first line of data, but then the next time the second line of data overwrites the first line. I would like each update to be on a new line, so I need to force a new line in my code. Here is the code for part of the loop so far.[code]

Jan 31, 2011I have two vb2008 programs with tooltips and on one of the programs, the tooltips re-appear after timeout without having to go to another tooltip and on the other program, after timeout, the tooltip will not re-appear without going to another tooltip. I can't find any differences in the tooltip setup that would cause this to be so. I have seen a couple of posts that are close to this, but it appears that they have just given up and did a work around. Does anyone have an idea or a solution?

Dec 24, 2010Using VB.NET 2008 desktop project, I created a simple tooltip on Form_Load event and attached it to a button on the form. Looks great when user hovers over button but times out after 30 seconds (which I set using popup delay etc.). But once it fades out, the second time user hovers over the button, the tooltip never shows up. Almost like it dies a natural death!

Feb 17, 2011I am currently programming within Visual Studio 2008 with VB.Net. I have been asked to add a tooltip to the upper closing button (the 'X' in the top right of the form next to the maximize and minimize buttons).
First I added a ToolTip from the toolbox to my form. I didn't have to disable the tooltips for the minimize, maximize and close and it usually doesn't appear. I then used @Saman function with one minor change:

As you can see instead of using his ToolTip1.Show() I used ToolTip1.SetToolTip(). I found with the show it worked infrequently, yet with the setToolTip it set the tooltip of the ('X') close button to my new text ("Save and Close") and thus it shows up whenever my mouse goes over the close button.

I want to add tooltip to the menu items in the menus I have created.Now I know that menu items have a property call tooltip and if I type text there, tooltips are displayed. But I want to use tooltip control for that because it gives me flexibility of changing colours or adding a heading to tooltips.I was able to bound tooltip control for controls on forms like button, textbox etc. But how can I achieve the same for menu items. Basically I want that my tooltips for menus have a heading also and If I want I can change colours.

Format Text For ToolTip?
Jun 15, 2010I'm populating a ToolTip with a string of text that has vBCrLf at the end to return a new line.
textfortooltip += dr(0) & dr(1) & vbCrLf
This produces multiple lines in my ToolTip based on a SQL query eg:
Administrator COMPUTER1
sa COMPUTER1
RandomUser COMPUTER2
Is it possible to format the string so the spacing is a bit more presentable like:
Administrator COMPUTER1
sa COMPUTER1
RandomUser COMPUTER2
Through tabs or another method of populating the ToolTip?
