Using Tooltip On A Form?
Mar 22, 2011I assigned a tooltip in my forms, I want it to show up everytime the form is minimized and hovered by a mouse pointer. These forms I am talking about are MDI Children.

Feb 17, 2011I am currently programming within Visual Studio 2008 with VB.Net. I have been asked to add a tooltip to the upper closing button (the 'X' in the top right of the form next to the maximize and minimize buttons).
First I added a ToolTip from the toolbox to my form. I didn't have to disable the tooltips for the minimize, maximize and close and it usually doesn't appear. I then used @Saman function with one minor change:

As you can see instead of using his ToolTip1.Show() I used ToolTip1.SetToolTip(). I found with the show it worked infrequently, yet with the setToolTip it set the tooltip of the ('X') close button to my new text ("Save and Close") and thus it shows up whenever my mouse goes over the close button.
Show Balloon Tooltip From Another Form?
Jun 13, 2010I want to display a balloon tooltip in the system tray. Currently, my app has four forms. the main form host the notifyicon. In process of operation with other forms, i want the current form to be hidden , and display a balloon message using the notifyicon of the main form.
in the form about to close this is what i did

The problem is that the procedure executes, but dosen't show any balloon .Another problem is that the notify icon does not disapper automatically when the app exits, except you hover the mopuse over it.
Tooltip Only Shows After Click Form?
May 5, 2010I have a small non mdi form with only 3 controls. The user can select a name of an animal on a listbox and a thumbnail picture of it is shown on the picturebox. There is also a tton.The tooltip on the thumbnail is quite important as left/right click do different actions but for some reason the tooltip will not display unless the user clicks the form.

Id like to chose the up to 16 byte hex field with a small numeric up-down counter. My problem is that I am writing the visualizer and the visualizer is not allowing me to assign a tooltip to me.form1 or aything nearly approximating that. I'd like the "form" to look like a tooltip. Currently it does allow me to use a messagebox. I have discoved that visuliizers can call classes:

Where Hex1 is a class but the class will not allow me to define a tooltip.

Jan 31, 2011I have two vb2008 programs with tooltips and on one of the programs, the tooltips re-appear after timeout without having to go to another tooltip and on the other program, after timeout, the tooltip will not re-appear without going to another tooltip. I can't find any differences in the tooltip setup that would cause this to be so. I have seen a couple of posts that are close to this, but it appears that they have just given up and did a work around. Does anyone have an idea or a solution?

Dec 24, 2010Using VB.NET 2008 desktop project, I created a simple tooltip on Form_Load event and attached it to a button on the form. Looks great when user hovers over button but times out after 30 seconds (which I set using popup delay etc.). But once it fades out, the second time user hovers over the button, the tooltip never shows up. Almost like it dies a natural death!

This produces multiple lines in my ToolTip based on a SQL query eg:

Is it possible to format the string so the spacing is a bit more presentable like:

When users leaves the current control, (when validating event is happenning more precisely) I validate the input text, if it's not valid then I set focus to the control again and I want then to show the tooltip, wether the mouse cursor is on the control or not.
