How do I incorporate my custom ASP.NET/VB.NET stuff into a DNN site? Long Version: I'm learning about DotNetNuke. I haven't done much yet, but I'm spending a while analyzing the software, hoping to be able to use it for a very large upcoming project.

I know this can be done as there are other modules out there that have this, but I'm just not getting it to work.
I have created a custom module for a DotNetNuke site. I want to be able to create a class object within the module to hold the information about that object. I can create the object and everything complies. But when I go to use the object in the code-behind it states that the object is not defined. I'm not really sure where to go from here.

I'm really not sure why this is not working. I did download another module code to compare and as far as I can tell everything is the same.
Where can I find the function that handles the login for DNN? I would like to add custom features to the login and I don't see the function in Login. ascx.vb (unless I missed it).There is a tag and a tag that forms the login. I figure one of these has the actual "Login" button, but I cannot seem to figure out where they're coming from.[code]

I would like to do this all in code and able to run multiple instances of the program to get information from many different web sites. Is something like this possiable in VB.net?

And placed it into a module, which I then wen't to my main program and attempted to place this:

To attempt to retrieve the data, but I get no error or information from it. The ini file is inside the folder of the project and I set the SectionName and KeyValue to the corresponding names. I think I am having trouble with syntax? Not 100% sure. This is the code that I got from the same source as the module for using the module.

I need to down load/copy files as in TXT file from an FTP site.I need to code in VB.Net.Currently I manually save it into a folder on my C drive, which I then update my DB.I would like to do it thu my code.

I can simply click on it and IE will ask me if I want to open it or Save it. I want to automatically download them into my folder on my HDD. can this be done thru VB.Net?
View 3 RepliesI currently have a part of my program that uploads an image file MainChart.png from a set location (locally) to a set remote location(on the ftp server). What I would now like to do is be able to upload more than one file at the same time.
What I am currently doing is repeating the same block of code, but changing the image file name from MainChart.png to another one of the image file names, so have about 8 instances of this block of code, Where the file name is just changed.
Does anyone know how I can do this in just one block of code, rather than the program having to keep calling another Sub and logging onto the FTP site each time for each image file that I want to upload?

I am trying to use the filesystem watcher to monitor a folder on a ftp site for files added. Does anyone know how to do this? I have even read that the filesystem watcher was not meant for ftp's but rather local monitoring, which doesn't make sense to me.

View 1 RepliesI have a system which needs to be secure which streams relatively large documents from a webservice to a proxy (Web site) whch then grabs the stream and pushes this to the client. This works but there are some issues where it seems the response is not being pushed until the entire stream is complete? whether this is the case Im not sure have run charles and until it completes it is "Waiting for response".
The documents are currently PDF but it needs to handle many other types for the future. The octet stream etc is mostly testing related, how to get the Dialog to show - saying save as? for the large files the little ones don't matter to much but the big ones leave a big waiting period with no response.

Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.
I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:

So I download the language package for spanish(es-es),chinese(zh-cn) and install them from host. Next when I changed the language of browser then the website language didn't change. Working on dnn 5.0.

I have several DNN modules that I wish to update silently, using the portal's built-in module upgrade facilities called from a separate application, in this case a Windows service. I was able to make it all work with version 4.3 of the portal by modifying the DNN source in key areas to allow DotNetNuke.dll to function outside of a web application. I'm now trying to do the same thing with the 4.9.0 source code and I'm having problems.
Everything works fine until DNN tries to read from the database. I have my Windows service project, the DNN library project, and several other related projects loaded in one VS solution (the additional projects are the same ones that are in the main solution file provided with the DNN source). I call PaInstaller.Install in my service to update each module. Execution gets to reflection.vb and then it tries to create a DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider object based on the type name. It raises an exception when calling System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetType. The exception says:
Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider' from assembly 'System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
I read this to mean it simply couldn't locate the DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider.dll assembly. What's strange is that assembly is in the Bin folder for the DNN library project, and I also have it in the folder where my Windows service is running. The actual SqlDataProvider project is also loaded in the solution. I can't for the life of me understand why the runtime environment can't locate the assembly.
Has anyone tried something like this before, or know what could cause an assembly not to be found while stepping through the DNN source? Am I better off using something other than BuildManager.GetType to get an instance of the SQL provider type?
In the context of a DNN module, what's a good generic way to find out what the URL to the login functionality is?

2. has only one view.ascx control

I do not need DB connectivity and any bells and whistles just one view control. I thought it would be simple but googling for a day now and it seems very complicated.
I have a dynamically created CheckBoxList in a DotNetNuke module I'm building. When DNN creates the page, it prepends the control name with the moduleID and moduleName.
So, when I have "AddLicenseCheckBoxList" on the page, it becomes:
"dnn_ctr949_addRateGroup_AddLicenseCheckBoxList" depending on what the ModuleID and page name is (in this instance it's 949 and addRateGroup respectively). Now, I don't know what the name of the page or moduleID will be when this module is finished, so I need to make sure I am accessing the control my whateer name DNN gives it, and getElementById or getElementByName do not work even when using '<%= %>'.
So what I need to do is use Javascript or some VB to retrieve the checked values of the dynamically created CheckBoxList so that I can run an update on the database with those selected values. [code]...
My module's Page_Load event is firing twice for each "actual" load. On the initial load both loads' Page.IsPostBack property is false.I've renamed Page_Load to Module_Load to verify the name wasn't an issue. I've made sure the method isn't handling both Me.Load and MyBase.Load, which has been the case in the past.The only thing I'm doing out of the ordinary is that my module is inheriting from an intermediate base class.
