Draw Lines Between Elements In 2 List Views To Bind The Data?
Aug 4, 2009I am using VB 2008 and wonder if there is a way to draw lines between the data elements in two listviews to bind the elements together?

Dec 30, 2010This is what I'm sure will be the first of many noob-ish questions from yours truly... I'm studying as a mature student for a Computing Degree (encompassing web design, hardware, programming and systems analysis). The programming seems to be my weak spot this year. I enjoyed C++ last year, doing basic console applications, but progamming visually with VB in Visual Studio 2008 I'm struggling!

DB/Reporting :: ODBC To SQL Server 8 Shows List Of Procedures But Not List Of Tables Or Views?
Oct 27, 2009In VS 2008, VB.Net, I am successful connecting to a local SQL Server (version 8) and seeing all tables/views/procedures in Server Explorer. The local OS is Win XP Pro SP3. I created an ODBC data source to a remote SQL server (also version 8) with a database of the same structure as the local one. The connection tests out ok. The remote computer runs Windows Server 2000 SP4. In the VS 2008 Server Explorer I add this ODBC source. When I click on the plus-signs to expand items, neither the tables nor the views show anything, whereas the full list of procedures appears. Is it the old SQL Server version? Is it the old Server OS version? Something else alltogether?

I have a generic list obtained from a class using LINQ. The list has 4 objects, each object consisting of a Letter property (string - A, B, C and D) and a corresponding Number property (integer - 1, 2, 3, and 4).
In Silverlight, I have a combobox control and a text block. I'm trying to figure out how to:

Jul 18, 2011I have the following "contact" data (exampled below) stored in an xml file.I've created a frmContacts windows form and placed a list box control inside it.I'm new to the list box but plan to have the users manage the list by letting them add, delete, and pick from it. For searching there should also be a sort function/button (by last name then first name).If the user deletes from the list the corresponding data in the file will be deleted.If the user picks from or adds to the list, I'd like to find the best way to populate the corresponding data elements on another form (i.e., in their respective text boxes). This will include the ability to edit/save from this other form too.

Data Bind A Drop Down List In A Gridview From A Database Table Using VB?
Dec 4, 2009So in this gridview, there is a column for status and I want to have a drop down list with Pass, Pending, Fail appear when the edit button is clicked. These values are already in a table, so I need to somehow bind from this table to each ddl for every row.Here is the column from the gridview. [2008] Collecting Sub Items In List Views?
Mar 12, 2009I have used list views for a project. I have used sum items on the items. The sub items are prices of products. I will need to use these sub items to come up with a total.Also, i have used to listviews, for a smoother look and feel. You click the product which then is removed from the list view and added to the second one. Would this also "move" the sub item across to the other list view?

Apr 1, 2012I'm new to Visual basic (which will be obvious from my question) and am writing program that does various calculations, then displays the results in a list box. the results, however, are all concatenated, end don't each appear on a new line. I tried adding a carriage return/line feed at the end buit the compiler rejected it.
I can't find any examples of creating a list box, and adding multiple entries (one for each time a loop is performed), nor of how to use columns to make the resulting display cosmetically pleasing.

It seems in VB2008 I can only use pens inside a picturebox1_onpaint() subroutine, I can't tell a picturebox what to do from a button_click subroutine or form_load subroutine first and then send the results to a picturebox. I have no control over when the graphics are drawn and from which subroutine. How do I solve this in VB2008 ?
Lines Won't Draw To Picturebox?
Apr 11, 2009I have a simple picturebox, line drawing procedure (call it "DrawTheLine"), which fires ok when I call it from a command button. But when I try to call it from the boot form_load procedure it doesn't work; no lines draw. No errors are raised.
Things I've thought of are:
1. The form_load procedure is not done creating all of the controls on the form, so it can't work with them yet. Doesn't make sense because my drawing call is the last thing in the form_load procedure, and it executes, but the picturebox does not show the lines.
2. Tried Application.DoEvents, but no go.
3. Tried using picturebox.invalidate to force a paint event and "called" the drawing procedure that way, with the appropriate arguments. Again, the procedure "DrawTheLine" fires, but no lines draw to the picturebox.

I want to create a local list to store changes that only get persisted if the user clicks save. Currently if the user clicks cancel - the changes are still applied in the first form because I assume the objects are reference type.I have the save working as it calls a service layer to do the save and then refreshes the other form - but not the cancel.
