Read The String Which Contains XML Data And Store The Elements In A List?
May 17, 2011
I have a string with xml data.Dim appManifest As String = New System.IO.StreamReader(Application.GetResourceStream(New System.Windows.Resources.StreamResourceInfo(e.Result, Nothing), New Uri("AppManifest.xaml", UriKind.Relative)).Stream).ReadToEnd()
I have a list of files and all of them have a different size. I need to upload them in chunks of 250Kb (or less if it's a small file or if it's the last chunk of a file).What I would like to do is read a bunch of chunks (lets say 15 chunks), in a separate thread, and then store the chunks of data in some sort of list. This list must be available to other threads.
An upload thread (I don't need help with uploading itself) takes the first chunk from the list and marks the chunk as "currently being uploaded". When the chunk has been fully uploaded, then the chunk is removed from the list. A second upload thread takes the next available chunk in the list that has not been set to "currently being uploaded", etc. There are a total of 10 upload threads working at the same time.
As soon as a chunk is removed from the list, then a new chunk of data is read and added to the list.Does anybody know what kind of list I need or how I should do something like this? I don't expect people to write out the code for me, but I have no idea where to start with this.
I have the following "contact" data (exampled below) stored in an xml file.I've created a frmContacts windows form and placed a list box control inside it.I'm new to the list box but plan to have the users manage the list by letting them add, delete, and pick from it. For searching there should also be a sort function/button (by last name then first name).If the user deletes from the list the corresponding data in the file will be deleted.If the user picks from or adds to the list, I'd like to find the best way to populate the corresponding data elements on another form (i.e., in their respective text boxes). This will include the ability to edit/save from this other form too.
Is there a class or something I can add to be able to read an email?I really want to be able to make a real email client (like outlook).Is it possible with vb.net?
I have a data in the below format number = 4 length = 7 force = 100 Now I want to read it in a format that it will check the string 'number' or 'length' or 'force' or whatever and stores this data into specified arrays or listboxes. Like a force() array or listboxforce.items()
What I am trying to do may be better for use with SQL Server but I have seen many applications in the past that simply work on text files and I am wanting to try to imitate the same behaviour that those applications follow. I have a list of URL's in a text file. This is simple enough to open and read line by line, but how can I store additional data from the file and query the data?
E.g. Text File: link1 - 0 link2 - 0 link3 - 1 link4 - 0 link5 - 1
Then I will read the data with: Private Sub ButtonX2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ButtonX2.Click OpenFileDialog1.Filter = "*txt Text Files|*.txt" If OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then Dim AllText As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(OpenFileDialog1.FileName) Dim Lines() = Split(AllText, vbCrLf) [Code] ..... Am I going completely the wrong way about storing the data after importing from a text file?
I just wondering if Visual Basic.NET and VB6 can do these examples.I have use python before and i will take some examples.Save numbers to a list and add
Quote:
this_is_a_list=[1,2,35,4564,532,2454,3404,3,455,2,1] x = len(this_is_a_list) this_is_a_list.insert(10, x)
len is a function who count how long a list is. This list is 11 numbers long. I will now insert/add number 10 after the last number. The first number has the place 0. The second number has the place 1.Can VB.net do that? Check how long a list is?Delete a list?
i am try to read from a file and then split the data and store them in an array but i am getting an error. can someone please point to the right direction here is the file i am trying to read from
In .NET which data type do you use to store list of strings ?Currently I'm using List(Of String) because it's easier than Array to manage and add/remove stuff. I'm trying to understand what are the other options, when they become handy and when I should avoid List(Of String) usage.
So I have a dropdown setup on the page called ddlVehicleType that is populated from a store. This method gets called when another dropdown is changed, and it's supposed to remove all items from the aforementioned store, re-add them as needed, and then populate the dropdown with the new values.
It's doing everything it's supposed to EXCEPT clearing the store before it re-adds the values, so the result is, when I switch, I'm getting what it used to be PLUS the new values that should be in there by themselves.[code]...
This is probably a really basic question - but I have a list of items (custom objects) being passed from one winform (.net 3.5) to another. I want to create a local list to store changes that only get persisted if the user clicks save. Currently if the user clicks cancel - the changes are still applied in the first form because I assume the objects are reference type.I have the save working as it calls a service layer to do the save and then refreshes the other form - but not the cancel.
i have two list boxes with words in them and i want to put then in a string of data..or a textbox either one. And also how can i move the listbox down aumaticaly on a timer?
My program creates a array of numbers as entered by a user and then finally adds them up. The form should be able to display the numbers typed in by the user. I know how to put one of these numbers into separate labels and could display each number that way but I wanted to know if there is a simple way to display the string that is created as a list in perhaps a read only text box or similar?
I cut my programming teeth on QBASIC so apologise if I'm a bit behind the times. I wrote a program in QB and I'm trying to convert it to VB.NET. One stumbling block I've hit is the DATA & READ facility, there does'nt appear to be an equivilant in VB. I want to read a list of data into an array using a FOR NEXT loop.
i know that integer is a variable to store whole numbers and that a string is a varialbe used to store any text, but what variable type would you use to store a number that has decimals?
I have an XML form, and I want to read in the values in each of the elements of that form. I have a bit of code to start me off, but it doesnt just read the data in the xml tags, it reads the xml tags as blanks. I need to know how to get around that, so that the program displays the data only.[code]....
I like to read text from another application's buttons, labels and textboxes with the help of "SendMessage". I've tried so many different code examples, but nothing worked. Maybe somebody of you has a small VB.Net-Example on your harddrive and explain it a bit to me.
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
I have a feeling it is an easy one, but for the life of me i cant figure it out. My project at the moment is to grab content from a website and use it in some way (havent worked out this part yet, still trying to get the data).
Currently, i have grabbed the whole website and written it to a text file.. No dramas there. Then i read each line until i find a certain string... Again, no dramas. MY problem is; after reading and finding the certain string, i want the program to grab whatever "characters" there are until it reads a certain string again, and then put those characters into a string for later use.
so for example: READ WEBSITE... CREATE TXT FILE...
I got a list of objects. Each object has a property called Z (integer).There will come a point during run-time I will want to re-arrange such objects in my list depending on their Z property. The objects with lower Z go first in the list, and the ones with higher will go last.I have thought of a couple things, like making a new List, then loop through each object in the original list as many times as the amount of objects such list has (so if it has 10 objects, I would loop 100 times), and each iteration will check the Z values. When a cycle is done (for every 10 iterations), I will remove the object with the lowest Z number in cycle and add it to the new List. And so on until the 100 iterations are done.
I have a List of a custom class (barData) that I need to remove elements form based on a date.
The bardata class holds data of stock price information.[cod]e...
Is there a way to do it without looping through each bar as I may have 2000 plus bars for each stock and may have 2000+ plus stocks to look at. It can be done by looping but it is slow.
I am reading an XML file and there is some data within the file that I need to do some math functions on and comparisons with.How can I convert some of the read data into a number?Can it be done before I read it meaing can I specify that what's between certain tags is a number?
Dataset's ReadXML() method would read an XML document. But how would we skip certain columns? [Code] So, if I use ReadXML(), it would read the whole document and the dataTable would have "id" column, "name" column and "price" column. But I want to have only "id" and "name" column. How can I skip certain columns from reading it?
