[i][b]I have always developed apps for desktops with an access database on one server for one company or sql server. I had one connection string. Now I am in a situation with multiple clients using my software on their own server. This means different connection strings can anyone suggest an efficient way to do this without changing connection strings for each server throughout the application?[/b][/i]

I've just started ASP.NET for real, and I was wondering if it is possible to use connection strings from Data Sources instead of hard-coding them. I've added my connection in Data Sources and it works, and I can also drag a table to a page in design mode, but I can't figure out how to access it in code. Here's what I get when I drag it in:

Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

I'm creating a program in VB.Net that heavily interacts with 2 large MSSQL databases. I do not know a ton of vb and I'm fairly new, but I would assume just having the connection strings in the code and releasing the program it would be quite easy for someone to reverse the program and get my connection info? correct me if I'm wrong. My question is I'm wondering if there is a safer way to use a connection string in my program. Would I just have to encrypt my app? Create a module or dll?

I have been struggling with the construction of an Access connection string. Here's the problem.My Visual Basic 2008 project is located in a disk partition on my hard drive that I have named S:. My Access MDB file is in the same location.When I deploy the application it obviously will not be in an S: drive on the user's machine. My concern is that if I construct the Connection String using the file designations on my computer as:

The deployed application won't know where to look for the data file. I know there are some shortcuts that will allow me to construct the connection string, but I do not know either the designated names or where to find them.

After running the following sub (VS debugger), I try to detach the database in SSMS, but it shows the connection open still and won't let me detach. If I close program in debugger, the database shows no connections. I check the dataadapter's connection in the finally block and is shows closed. What gives

I have Visual Basic 2010 Express and SQL Server 2008 R2 (not Express) installed on my Windows 7 machine. In Visual Studio, I am attempting to create a Data Connection to a database in SQL server. Server Mgmt Studio is not running. When I attempt to add a connection in Database Explorer, to the AdventureWorks _Data database, I get the message "This file is in use. Enter an new name or close the file that's open in another program." There are no programs running except VB, except maybe for the SQL Server engine running the background.Please note that I can open and access tables within a database in code
within Visual Studio, I just can't add a connection in Database Explorer.Am I doing something wrong? I've been very frustrated on this issue for a long time

I am trying to connect a VB.NET 2003 Oledbdataadapter through the wizard to a SQL Server 2005 Database, but i get an error message during the wizard.These are my steps:New Connection, Select provider (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server), Select Connection:server name, log on: use windows NT integrated security, select database. My Ms-Access .mdb file is on my website. It is in the App_Data Folder

I'm trying to create a method to compact the database, so I used JRO to do it. To do it however, an exclusive access is required, and when I try to call the method I get an exception.

My query is not the straightforward connection to MS Access.I am using a third application that places all data in an Access database BUT recently they changed the database so that it doesn't end in '.mdb', instead in another suffix: '.accdb'.The database is still an Access database but I cannot connect to it using the connection strings:[code]Previously I was able to use the second connection when the database name ended in '.mdb' (Database Name.mdb).

Following conflicts that im facing;
1-database Connection issue : I have made successful connection with ACCESS database from win form (vb.net) but the Connection string's location
Is locally accesse only b/c database is placed in my Drive C:databasedatab.mdb , but i need the location which can be universally accessed like in websites image location like that imgsrc=/images/1.jpg , for this issue i have used dim cn as oledbconnection = ("provider=*****,datasource=|datadirectory|/datab.mdb")
But this connection is not working , i know there is just issue in connection string may im missing any syntax.
2-Login Form : i need easy coding for login form which confirms from access database table "USER" , the username,password field, if both are matched it proceed to the main form where menus and blah blah
