View 3 RepliesMy Ms-Access .mdb file is on my website. It is in the App_Data Folder
The current connection string is:
OleDbDataAdapter Da = new OleDbDataAdapter("Select * from SerialNo",
new OleDbConnection(@"provider=microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;
data source=ftp://ftp.WebsiteName.com/App_Data/SerialNo.mdb"));
Where am I making a mistake in above connection string?
Note: CRs added in the code for better readability
I created a connection to a Microsoft Access database by using the wizard. Now in the server connections I see my data connection to the db. I'm trying to create a method to compact the database, so I used JRO to do it. To do it however, an exclusive access is required, and when I try to call the method I get an exception.
View 4 RepliesMy query is not the straightforward connection to MS Access.I am using a third application that places all data in an Access database BUT recently they changed the database so that it doesn't end in '.mdb', instead in another suffix: '.accdb'.The database is still an Access database but I cannot connect to it using the connection strings:[code]Previously I was able to use the second connection when the database name ended in '.mdb' (Database Name.mdb).
View 1 RepliesFollowing conflicts that im facing;
1-database Connection issue : I have made successful connection with ACCESS database from win form (vb.net) but the Connection string's location
Is locally accesse only b/c database is placed in my Drive C:databasedatab.mdb , but i need the location which can be universally accessed like in websites image location like that imgsrc=/images/1.jpg , for this issue i have used dim cn as oledbconnection = ("provider=*****,datasource=|datadirectory|/datab.mdb")
But this connection is not working , i know there is just issue in connection string may im missing any syntax.
2-Login Form : i need easy coding for login form which confirms from access database table "USER" , the username,password field, if both are matched it proceed to the main form where menus and blah blah
I'm writing a Windows form application in VS 2008. In the application I need to move among several SQL express databases (.mdf). I'm using the following commands to change the connection:
Me.MyTableAdapter.Connection.Close()
Me. MyTableAdapter.Connection.ConnectionString = "NewString"
Me. MyTableAdapter.Connection.Open()
I can see the form is showing data from the 2nd database. However, When I tried copying the 1st database (for a Save as function I'd like to implement), I got a system error saying "Cannot copy MdfFile: It is being used by another person or program.". Actually, I found all the visited databases were "being used" untill I closed my application. How do I break the connection completely?

View 1 RepliesI will be developing a program using visual studio 2008 with ms access 2007 as my database. What I only use is this type of connection string: "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:mydatabase.mdb;Jet OLEDB:System Database=system.mdw;" but i was asked if it is possible to put the database in sharepoint and I haven't even tried it before. The case is like this, the program that i will do would be installed on some computer units of different branches of the company then the database should be accessible through sharepoint so that every users can access the most updated database.

I am developing an application on VB.NET 2010, I am planning to make an online activation system, the idea behind is that Whenever someone installs my application, the application presents user an activation form, user will be entering product key, name and email address, and then system will establish a connection to a database which contains all the keys on WEB. So how should I make an efficient program to get rid of that.

I am working on an asp.net project in VS2010 using vb.NET (not VBA) designing an interface to allow a user to upload a file to an access 2007 table attachment field. My understanding is that in order to interface with a table with an attachment field you
must use DAO to connect to the database so that you can expose the attachment field properties. When I try to open the DAO recordset I am getting "COM exception was unhandled by user code" with a message stating "Too few parameters. Expected 3". The error code is -2146825227 and the stacktrace message is "at dao.Database.OpenRecordset(String Name, Object Type, Object Options, Object LockEdit)"

View 2 RepliesI have written a simple VB.NET program that connects to a MS Access Database. This program runs in Windows 7 XP Mode, but does not run properly in straight Windows 7. Somehow, the Windows 7 does not connect properly or read the MS Access database data properly with the DataAdapter.Fill method. I have dual monitors, so I can run the identical program side by side (one in Windows 7 and the other in XP Mode) - one works and the other doesn't (it doesn't crash, it just get "nothing" from the database when accessing - acts like it's not connected). Has anyone else run into this, or similar, problem with VB.NET and MS Access connectivity?
View 14 RepliesI've created a small DLL, an addin for Autodesk Inventor, this addin saves some information provided by the user and the program to an access(mdb)database.The whole idea behind this is that it allows users to quickly find drawings, assemblies and so on.The DLL works great on x86 systems however it has issues on x64 because I used ado.net.In a attempt to solve it I forced .net to compile it with the target x86 CPU settings.
However using this I'm unable register the dll (C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727RegAsm.exe /codebase SavetoDatabase.dll )It says its not a proper .net dll file and therefore cannot be registered.
is there any other access-database connection provider (like dao or ado.net) that works on a 64 bit machine? Or do I need to change from mdb databases to another type (like mysql)? because sooner or later all machines its running on will be converted to x64.Or do I need to register the dll in another way?I've also tried to replace the conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 with ACE, with no luck however
I have an MS Access 2003 database built that resides on a shared network path at the company I work for.The database works perfectly for users connected directly to the company network.However, when a user tries to open the database while connected remotely to the company network (they can still access the shared path), they receive the following error:The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.At the time that they tried it, they were the only person accessing the database.They tried a local copy as well as a copy on the network shared drive.[code]
View 4 RepliesI've set up a test database to begin unit-testing an app that I've recently been added to. It is a 3-tier design (presentation layer, BOL and DAL) and this is my first time writing unit tests. I've decided to start at the BOL and I figure the best way is to swap out the ConnectionString (which has been passed along as a Shared String) with one that points to my new test database. However, I don't wish to change any production code. I simply wish to somehow redirect the app to the test database during unit tests.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to make an oledb connection to an Access database.
1. I added a component class.It said drag from the toolbox to add components.
2. I dragged over the Oledbconnection and OledbdataAdapter
3. I clicked on new connection string for the oldeb Connection and try to connect to the SHX.mdb datababase in the debug/ bin folder I don't have a username or password for the database and do not want to set one up.( is this possible in .net?)
4.As soon as I try to test the connection, I get the "invalid authorization specification" message. I can't get past this and do not really understand why I am getting this message.I have vb 2005 standard edition, not express edition.The exact same thing happens when I try to set up the data adapter to the shx.mdb database.
I am on XP2 and not logged in with a password or username. Could this be the issue or is there something else I am overlooking.Also, since I am coming from vb6 and ADO is there anyway to just write the code without having to use datasets, adapters and oledb connections to bound controls?
I think its better if i attach my files for you understand what i wanted to happen in my program.
We are now in our finals and for our project we need to make a program that shows connection of database(sql or access) and vb.net so dont mind if it has a problem in design or anything bcoz the objective of this project is to show what we've learn in our subject IT Programming 1 (vb.net)
