Oct 25, 2010I have just realised that ComboBoxes don't have a Change event. I have a combobox filled with a few items, eg. Bakery, Deli, Fruit & Veg, etc. Choose one of these items, all the related items show in the dgv. However, when I blank the text in the Combobox (press Delete key whilst Combobox has the focus), what event fires so I can blank the dgv? The combobox does not contain a Blank item. Even if it does, the Blank item only fires the ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged when the user scrolls down to, or clicks on, the blank value.
I want to clear the dgv when the user blanks the combobox without necessarily changing the selection index.

Why Did Clear() Clear Both DataTables
Feb 28, 2011In my winform program (in vb.net) I wrote:

But when I run the program, Clear() cleared both dt and dttemp! Why? Aren't dt and dttemp supposed to be two distinct instances of DataTable?
(I finally found a solution - dttemp = dt.Copy() instead of dttemp = dt. But I still can't see why Copy() was necessary in this case.

DataGridView - -1 Error From The System.Windows.Forms
Jun 21, 2010OK, in it's simpest terms, I have a custom object (all string Items) which I add to a list of those items. The list is declared as a global variable. One form updates the list, another contains a dataGridView (vs.net 3.5) that displays the list items. The view displays the correct data. For some reason, if I select a header in the dgv before it's populated, that's fine, but if I select it (click anywhere with the mouse) it bugs out with an Index = -1 error from the System.Windows.Forms. CurrencyManager.get_Item(Int32 index) bit.

Sep 29, 2010I am programming in VB9 WPF and Blend 3. I was working on a program in Blend 3; I can work on all my forms and everything runs fine in Blend, but when I opened it in VS the WFP forms would not display (I have five of them in my program and they all have the same problem in Visual Studio.), but I can run the program in VS, see the forms in run mode, and work on the code behind with no problem. I can't determine what is causing the WPF forms error in VS. It appears I have a "ResourceDictionary_4 error, but I cannot locate that dictionary in either Visual Studio or Blend. I even tried searching my entire computer and can't find any trace of it. Are there any ideas as to how do I solve this problem? The error messages I am getting are:

Aug 21, 2009I have created a datagrid of my own in vb dotnet and converted to dll. I add this dll to a project.i have 2 forms and i have added this control on 2 forms. When i run the project and open 2 forms simentaneously an error " reference not set to an instance of an object" occurs on acess of any property of that control.

Mar 20, 2010I got the "infamous" 'Cannot Access Disposed Object.' error when I was attempting to open a form again after I had closed it. The fix (even though it's annoying), is easy enough; but again it's managed code problems and weirdness I still haven't changed my opinion that I won't be using MS .NET after this when I get my development box back to normal. So, my thought is that the "IsDisposed" property runs some sort of function to determine the Garbage Collection state and does a collection, or updates the request for the collection to be done.

Apr 11, 2010I'm trying to do a basic function, I'm using Visual Basic 2008 express, I have a windows form with 1 textbox, 1 button and a serial port. When the button is pressed serialport1 is opened then the data received is trimmed to remove unwanted char from start and end and then is displayed in the textbox, when the button is pressed again the port is closed, this works fine but in debug mode I get a cross thread error, telling me I can't use textbox1.text=result
