Error - ExecuteNonQuery Requires The Command To Have A Transaction
Oct 11, 2010
Public Sub Procedure(ByVal procname As String, Optional ByRef param() As SqlParameter = Nothing)
'Execute Store Proc In Database
Dim cmd As SqlCommand
cmd = New SqlCommand(procname, conn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
[Code]....
I have came out with a simple DAL, when i pass in stored procedure and param, it throw me exception as the following
"ExecuteNonQuery requires the command to have a transaction when the connection assigned to the command is in a pending local transaction. The Transaction property of the command has not been initialized."
Any ideas on how I handle the following error thrown in the SqlDataAdapter.Fill as a result of the BeginTrans in the callee?
System.InvalidOperationException = {"ExecuteReader requires the command to have a transaction when the connection assigned to the command is in a pending local transaction.The Transaction property of the command has not been initialized."}
This one copied from microsoft web site, is this command working...? Error like " Executive Reader Requires.......Transaction property of the command has not been initialized..."
I'm passing in a sql command such as "EXEC StoredProc 0" into a a function called ExecMyCommand where StoredProc is a stored procedure taking a parameter of 1 or 0.It works fine with the following code.I had tried to judge success by looking at NumRowsAffected but soon realized that the -1 could represent a successful run even if -1 was the return value.So then I changed the code and return mLastRunOutcome = False if there is an error.So for testing I changed the name of the SP to like StoredProc2 in the database and ran the same command "EXEC StoredProc 0" and to my amazement, no errors were thrown in the code below..Of course ran the same command in Query Analyzer and it barked that there was no SP by that name.How do I know when a command ran successfully or not in code here? and Why didn't the ExecuteNonQuery throw an error when the command was not right??[code]
I keep getting a syntax error on the ExecuteNonQuery command. I am sure that the table names and column names are correct. Anyone see what I am doing wrong? Am I using any reserved words as column names or something?
Dim da5 As New OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT JobPlanNumber, SLPartNumber, Quantity, Order FROM tblSLMaterials WHERE JobPlanNumber = ?", cn) Dim ds5 As New DataSet
Error : Execute requires the command to have a transaction object when the connection assigned to the command is in a pending local transaction. The transaction property of the command has not been initialized..
This one causes the error: Dim oOperation As COperationOutputTypeBS oOperation = COperationOutputTypeBS.GetOperationOutputType(txtOperationCode.Text)
When ever I try to update a record from data grid using a dataAdapter record it always showing ' update requires a valid insert command when passed data row collection with new rows' From specific sql server Table only. Resulting me holding up a project.
I get this error at the Commit of a transaction in a desktop application:
This OleDbTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.
Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction.It is using an Oracle database.This class is a simplified version of my database class:
Class MyDatabase Private mConnection AS OleDbConnection Private mTransaction AS OleDbTransaction

Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?
I have an issue with a data base updating it won't update for me in debgging mode it is stopping here on this bit of code which is highlighted in red. the error which comes up is .(update requires a valid update command when passed datarow collection with modified rows.)

What value will be returned from below execution with select, insert, update, delete?
Dim L_EXECUTED_NO1 As Integer = command.ExecuteNonQuery() Dim L_EXECUTED_NO2 As Integer command.ExecuteReader() Dim L_EXECUTED_NO2 As Integer = command.ExecuteScalar()
For example, I tried "Dim L_EXECUTED_NO1 As Integer = command.ExecuteNonQuery()" with Update SQL statement and that returned "-1". But it returned 1 for Delete SQL statement.

It'ss not running the cmd2.executenonquery. I've tried many different things such as opening a different connection and yet it still doesnt run that line of code, but it'll run the message box in the if then statement. So I assume it's something to do with the connection somewhere. I've also tried using try and catching the error. nothing. So the problem is that its just not running query2.
However, I've just inherited a problem and was wondering if anyone knows if I can solve it with a command line application written in .NET. Basically, we have a SAP transaction which has been written which imports data from a csv file.At the moment, it will be a manual process requiring someone to log in and run the transaction. Does anyone know if it's possible to action this from a command line app which we could then set up as a scheduled task?
I am completly flummoxed!!! I have writen code for updating my table from a form but when I use the same code only changing the table names it wont work I get the following message: "Update requires a valid Update Command when passed DataRow collection with modified rows" My codes are as follows:
the row gets delete in the dataset when i put RemoveAt(0). But when i want to refelect in the database, it gives me the error: "Update requires a valid DeleteCommand when passed DataRow collection with deleted rows."
Primary Key Issue!!!! Hell such a litttle mistake mannn... toooook so much time and so irritating...
I have a program that calls on an Access Database to get it's data. I wrote a public sub to speed up the data access commands when I needed them instead of typing everything out. When I use the DA.Update(DS,"tblmain") command it works fine EVERYWHERE ELSE but for some reason it keeps locking up in one spot and gives me this (non-verbatim) error:"update requires a valied insertcommand"Here's my Public Sub that accesses the database.
Module Database_Funtions Public PROVIDER As String = _ "Provider = Microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;Data Source = "'Provider for DB access
I'm going through a book which is teaching me some basic coding principles of the language. The current section is detailing how to set up a master child form using two tables linked with a foreign key. The master table is displayed as a number of text boxes, and below is a grid with the child table which shows related records to whatever master record you happen to be checking out. At the top of the screen are the default navigation controls that are added with the grid. The master table is named Person and the child table Book. They are linked using a foreign key and have cascade set up on them.
The book informed me of the code required under the save icon on the navigation control so that when it is clicked both tables will be updated as required. It is as follows: If Validate() Then 'Make sure editing has completed on both master and child tables Me.BookBindingSource.EndEdit() Me.PersonBindingSource.EndEdit() [Code] .....
I have double checked that the code matches that shown, so this should in theory work fine. But if I manually delete a record from the Book (child table) grid and then click the Save icon on the navigation bar it comes up with the error "Update Requires A Valid DeleteCommand when passed DataRow collection with deleted rows".
Why changes made are not permanently saved to the database? I gather that it's using a "copy" of the data in the database but how do I get the code/form to make changes to the actual underlying database records as well as just the copy? I find this system very unusual, if someone deletes a record in the application why would anyone want this to be just done temporarily?
I'm trying to update a record in MS Access database with the code below. But it says 'Syntax error in UPDATE statement and highlights cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()'.
I'm new to ASP.Net and I'm having an error while trying to add record to my database. Any help? After executing the code, I'm having the message "Error in INSERT INTO statement" and the execution stops at cmd.executenonquery().[code]
I've got this code and it opens the database connection in debugging (and i've used the wrong password to test that it fails) but when i come to ExecuteNonQuery I get this error
ExecuteNonQuery: Connection property has not been initialized.Here is my code.VB.NET
Public ConnectionString As String = "Data Source=JOHN-PCSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=RLNZ_11;User Id=App;Password=Password;"Dim connection As New SqlClient.SqlConnection(ConnectionString)connection.Open() Dim command As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("INSERT INTO news (ID, NewsID, NewsTitle) Values (@ID, @NewsID, @NewsTitle)")command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ID", "")command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@NewsID", NewsID) command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@NewsTitle", NewsTitle)command.ExecuteNonQuery()
I've seen plenty of examples of transactions in the actual store procedure's SQL. But I'm wanting to do the transaction and keep track of it in code. I tried this but it says that my insertcommand's transaction object is null. How can I fix this?
vb Dim conn As SqlConnection = DBConnections.SQLServerConnection conn.Open() Dim params(1) As SqlParameter
I am trying to insert the information from comboxes, check boxes, and date and time picker. I am getting the following error when I hit submit button. "ExecuteNonQuery: Connection property has not been initialized. - system.data" I am sure I am making some silly code mistake that I am not able to figure out.
Dim icount As Integer Dim SQLstr As String Try SQLstr = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:ADAccountDel.mdb;"
