Closing Application Via X Button Without Closing Forms Inside Mdiparent Causes Exception Error
May 3, 2010Form1 is a mdi container. It has a bunch of forms that can load inside of it as mdi children. If I close each open form inside the form1, and then click the red X at the top right, application exits fine.If I click the red X without closing the forms inside I get: An unhandled exception of type 'System.CannotUnloadAppDomainException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Additional information: Error while unloading appdomain. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131015) However I can break from it. How do I get the application to not show that error? What must I do to fix those inside forms or close when the red x is clicked?

VS 2010 - Error Opening Design View (No Editor Available)
Feb 10, 2012There is no editor available for 'file path here'. Make sure the application for file type (.vb) is installed. This is the error that I get when I try to open a project I did a while back in VB. I tried a C# project and I can open the form for viewing fine, but for some reason VB won't work? I really don't want to do a repair on the whole application as it takes a while and I'm not even sure I have the ISO right now.

Mar 6, 2011I'm working on an application that opens different mdi child forms to do different things whit the data from an Access database. For example I have a form that searches an item in the data base. The other form shows the items details or history. All database communication is handled by data-manager classes. Each whit it own instance of the class. The child forms have no connection to each other (passing of the item is by global variable object).The error occurs after the formclosed event from the closing form.The same error occurs when I open the form one by one.When I have two different child's open and I close one I get this error message: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled. The above code is what I used in VB6 to close all forms associated with my programs before my program closed. I have been searching for information on how to make sure all forms are closed when closing a VB2008 program.
I have seen info on using the Project Property Shutdown mode When startup form closes and I currently have this set.
Is this all that is really necessary? Will the garbage disposal close everything else to free up RAM?
Also, if I have several forms open and want to close all from the main form without closing each one individually, what is the best approach? Is there a collection like in VB6, go through the collection, compare it to the name of the main form and close it if it is not the main form?

Jan 30, 2012I just upgraded from Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I have a program in which I am receiving the following error:"There is no editor available for C:...Form1.vb. Make sure the application type (.vb) is installed."
This occurs when I try to open the designer view of the form.This problem does not exist in new programs (ones created after the upgrade).I am at a loss to explain this.

I also did run the build solution. After that I tried to debug my application and now it runs but does not open any form. Apr 25, 2009i just found a new error problem on my app.. i have a save button that saves text1. as the file name and text2. as the content.. i recently tried to save this file name on my app: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareC07ft5Y as a file name, and due to the in the file name, it made my app error and close without being able to save my file.. my question is, how to bring a msgbox saying "invalid characters in file name" instead of causing it to error and shut down. (just found out that registry entry is for SafeDisc-enabled products, although, i'm not fully sure..)

May 21, 2011VB express.yesterday my computer started squawking about the project that I was running in debug being edited outside of the editor, and did I want to reload.The message box gave me four choices: Yes, Yes to All,No,and No to All.It started doing it when I had a new project with nothing but a multiline text box that I was trying to use to display the numbers in a for next loop there was practically nothing there that I did.It squawked about that for projects that I ran many times before, and haven't edited at all recently.It kept coming back repeatedly.So far as I know, I have edited nothing outside the editor.What would I be reloading?

Oct 31, 2009I just cannot work this out so is it different in C# for VB in VS. Lets say you have added a control (does not matter what control) to a form, go to the 'View Code' of the form. In VB at the top of the source window below the Tabs of your project you see on the left a Class Name combobox (Type in C#) in VB you can select the control you just added, now in the right Members Name combobox (Members in C#) in vb i can select a member I want to add lets say Click event, this will be added to the project but in C# it just cannot be done?
The reason for this is that I have a Usercontrol that Shadows/New delegate thingy in C# TextChanged event I can easily Select this member in VB but not in C# do I have to add the event manually e.g. [Code] In VB I get a Handles event, Any ideas?
