Excel - Combining A Msgbox With A Combo Box To Populate A Single Cell
Dec 4, 2009
Novice VB user, trying to create a pop up msgbox upon opening a file, whereby the user selects from a list (of available options), the choice then gets entered directly into a cell reference. I have seen this before and know that it's primitive programming but i'm still a learner.
i Have this code which populates a number of combo boxes from an excel document, the problem is that it only populates the 1st three lines, does anyone know why this is??
I need to populate a Combo Box with sheet names in an Excel File. I Have an openfiledialog that i search for the excel file and put the dirPath to a textbox, now i need to populate the ComboBox with the sheets in that file, the idea is so when i select sheet3 in the ComboBox, i can pass that sheet name to the string for processing.
I am a newbie programmer using VB.net and I need to create a form with a TextBox that will populate an excel table. I created the form already but I do not know how to transfer the value of the textbox to each cell in my spreadsheet. The table is only only column and 2000 rows.
I need some help displaying the contents of a cell in excel into a combo box. I've been able to display if the contents of excel are numbers but can't seem to figure out how to display text.
I originally developed a simple application software [VB.Net + MS Access] (Lets call this project A) but now I want to include more functionality in it. I have an encryption/ decryption software utility (Lets call this project B ) and a Text to speech generation utility(Lets call this project C) . That is, I want to add Projects B and C to project A. [Such that clicking on the main form of project A calls a form from project B or C as desired].In solution explorer, I right clicked--Add Existing Project--and added both the above mentioned projects 1 by 1. (Added B and C to the solution explorer with the already present A).As the application software's (Project A's) main form is the main form of my project, I want to have a menu option on the main form (Of Project A) so that a user could click on one of the menu options and the main form of my other projects ( Project B or Project C or Encrypt/Decrypt or Voice Generation) should open by him doing so. To this effect, I tried the following:
1. I dragged the form simply from one of the projects (From B or C ) into the folder of my Application Software (Project A).This generated a lot of Build errors and the Voice Generation utility (Prj. C) would not work like this.
2. Tried to reference a dll, however the authors of Projects B and C did not include a dll in their projects.
3. Now I came to know that to call a form residing in another project folder or even another folder within the same project, you have to give a path for the form. HOW DO WE DO THIS?
As you can understand, I cannot copy the entire code of the 3 projects here....I will try attaching my project here though..Here it is: http: rapidshare.co...MY_Prj.zip.html[Dear Administrator: The downloading option on the webpage does not allow files bigger than I mb, thts why I used an external link]As I said, in the application, Project A is TMS.NET ; Project B is EncryptFile and Project is C.I encountered a problem while adding project C [spoken word], so the project contains only projects B and A. I will try to attach project C seperately. That is, TMS contains proj A+B and Speech contains C.
I want to combine two projects into one i.e. image and audio steganography with a single .sln file. How do I connect them? I'm using Visual Studio 2008.
I am attempting to combine multiple bitmap images into a single graphic object using Drawing.Drawing2D command but am noticing the image quality changes.I tried various combination of these ...
but did not get the "perfect" quality. What I want is one image to be in one region of the graphic object. Another image to be in another region. There is no overlapping of the image regions so essentially I want an source image to be as is in a given region. I noticed an option for "CombineMode" for Drawing2D but cannot figure out if and how to use this to get what I want.
I am getting an error when i try to populate some combo boxes with a value, the combo box has values in and the right amount the code is getting the right number.
the error msg is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I am trying to update a row or a single cell in ms access through vb.net. But when i update the text box named NRIC, say for example i want to update "s4522147B" to "tr4521856C" and mean while leaving the other fields the same.
But the thing is when i make the changes in nric.text (textbox), the dataset actually updates the whole column in the table instead of the selected textbox.
I have been tasked by my boss to create an application that takes information from an excel database holding sales figures, margins, budgets etc calculates all the figures and exports the totalled values to a table and graph also in excel. Although this is fairly easy, there is some complications I am dealing with. In the database there are many territories, and each employee has 1 or more territories.I'm not sure what I have done wrong, however the totals are not adding up properly. My code is:
'Defines Excel Objects Dim objExcel As New Excel.Application Dim objWorkbook As Excel.Workbook Dim objSheet As Excel.Worksheet
In VB.NET I would like to create a complicated data structure with multiple types of data stored in an array like format (see below). I am trying to create a data structure that would look something like this: [Name; xLoc; yLoc; zLoc; [Jagged Array]] Note: Name needs to be dimensioned as a string, xLoc and so forth as integers. The Jagged Array would look like this:
Can this be rewritten any better using LINQ? I'm a C#er trying to think in VB.NET for this current project. It's in an ASP.NET Web Forms .vb codebehind:
Public ReadOnly Property AllowedCategoryIds As Integer() Get Dim ids = New List(Of Integer)
I have a datagridview and in the _CellValidating event I am checking a cell to make sure it is filled in. If it is not, I want to stop editing, display a msgbox, and highlight the particular cell. Here is my code :
If e.ColumnIndex = 2 Then If e.FormattedValue = "" Then If Me.dgvFish.IsCurrentCellDirty Then MsgBox("Sample Number is a required field.")
[code]....
For some reason, I can't get the cell's backcolor to be filled in.
I'm attempting to copy cells, one at a time, from an Excel 2003 (or 2007) spreadsheet to a Word 2003 (or 2007) table. I'd like the code to be version-agnostic, and so am using late binding. The formatting of the contents of the Excel cell, such as color, underline, strike-through, needs to be preserved. My approach is to use a Word doc as a template. It has a table at the top which I can copy to the end of the doc, add rows as needed, and fill in the word table cells with the data from the excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all the formatting disappears. All I get is the text itself.
I have user form that copies data form on excel sheet to anther after the paste takes place.I need to perform a cleanup process. If the cell Value = N/A or the Cell formating is Strike thruIt need to1) Cut the Entire row 2) Shift the Row up3) Then paste the cut row into an anther sheet in the workbook
I have and form that Copies form on excel sheet to anther after the Paste takes place I need to perform a cleanup process. I need to cut the entire row, Shift Rows up, and paste it in anther sheet in the workbook if the value is N/A or the formatting is strike Thur. I am having trouble figuring out the code here is where I got to.
'Declared Stuff Dim wbTemplateSAS As Excel.Workbook Dim rangevalue As String = LastRowtx.Text - FirstRowtx.Text + 9
I have tested the code for the DataSet and DataAdaptor and both work fine, and as test was able to place the MaxRows variable into one of the text boxes on my form so I know thats all ok. But I am now trying to use the function below to copy the 1st cell of each row into a combo box to populate the options and comes up with a null exception error but cant get my head around it.
I would like to update an Excel cell using the cell name, such as "A1", instead of using the row and column, such as (3,2). I haven't been able to do it. Here is the code I used to update the cell by row and column. How would this code be updated so that it updates the cell by cell name instead?
I am new to Visual Basic and I'm trying to make a simple combo box that automatically populates from dataset. The table is from BaseMaterial with the column Material.
I'm trying to populate a combo box with a dataset, this sort of works, but everything is just appearing on the same line. I think this answer might be to put the dataset into an array, then put the array into the combo box.
...problem is, I'm not sure how to do this! My code thus far is,
Dim usernameList As Array 'Retrieve usernames where player has available status GetFilteredData()
I am currently stuck in one part of my application. I have two combo boxes that i am having the users select from. The first combo box is simply bound to a datatable. that is working properly. The second one i need to populate off another datatable after sorting out what the first one is requesting. Basically it's choosing a line number on the first box and then selecting the machine associated with that line number.[code]...
