I have a query being created using oledb from access and need to get the information to an already existing excel spread sheet. I am using VS 2010 with vb.net, access and excel are 2010. I have been running in circles for the last two days and cannot figure out how to get the data from a datareader into excel. This is a vb.net console app, so no web tables or grids can be used.
Dim conn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:PureshowPureshow.mdb;")
Dim cmd As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT PWTC08.Lot AS LotID, PWTC08.Reg AS OfficialID FROM ((PWTC08 INNER JOIN SWTC08 ON cint(LEFT(PWTC08.Lot,

I am almost to the point of just outputting to a CSV and telling the user to import into excel each time. I can export to excel if I put it in a webform, but I cannot figure out how to do using a console app.
The backend uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 runtime engine with an MSDE database engine. The frontend however is built with Microsoft VB.Net and the dotnet framework. I'm not sure how this changes things when trying to extract the tables. I've found the folders where SQL-notepad looking files are contained but am not sure what my next step should be. TBH i dont know what version of Microsoft VB.Net framework is used but the system is quite old and was made in 2001. If you haven't noticed from my poor phrasing i'm a bit of a newb when it comes to programming. If there is a particular programming code i have to put in i wouldn't really know where to put it.

View 2 RepliesI wont to export query results from Access to Excel.From my Access app i execute this function
Public Sub qExcel(pQuery As String)
DoCmd.Hourglass True
Dim dbs As ADODB.Connection[code]......
Everything is OK when I run this function for the first time. But when I try to run it the second time I get method range of object _global failed error.Also I've noticed that first execution creates excel process that is in my process list even after I close excel. Second execution creates second process and after error when I close excel both processes are gone.Third execution creates no error fourth creates errors .... and so on
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset
View 1 RepliesI'm running into a bit of a roadblock here. I have tried to search the web/forums for answer for last several hours to no avail and I'm not the expert VB Programmer.However, I was able to write an app to do the following:
1) read Outlook emails for particular emails containing xml link in which I was able to download the file and save to my hard drive.
2) opened the Excel spreadsheet to run the macro which import those XMLs into existing XLS spreadsheets to refresh the data.
3) Those XLS spreadsheets are linked in my MS Access in which I join all four XLS sheets to create one report via Query which I have created in the past prior to this app development.
I have manually done a File Export of this query via ALT+F then E and what I'd like to do is to either take control of menu commands OR alternate method of performing a File Export to a new Excel spreadsheet (version 2003).I've seen two different methods, one via DoCmd OutputtoFile and another is TransferSpreadsheet.Here's my Access coding I have in my VB 2010:
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
Public Class OutlookOfflineEmailExtractor
Dim wsAccessApp As Access.Application

View 2 RepliesI have a project am about to start and I want to used vb.net 2008.
I have an access database with some messed up data for example instead of firstname, Lastname field the person who create the database used fullname for the name filed. The good thing about this is the clerk types the names with a space.
I want to create a program that find the first name insert it into a new table.firstname and last name and put it into a table.lname using a loop all at once.
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2008 (VB.NEt). I've created a project which
connect to a Microsoft Access Database (OLEDB) & displays the records using textboxes in the windows app.
I need to add a button which exports the database to a fixed length text file. Does anyone know the code I would use to do this?
I'd like to export a table from Access to a text file (or a spreadsheet) using VB code in Excel 02. I'm using the transfertext command but my code runs through without actually doing anything or throwing up any errors. If I swap the code round and change Export to Import and move the data into the text file manually then the code will happily import the table into Access.
Sub Export()
dbfile = "C:XLSMDBTable.mdb"
Dim a As Object
Set a = CreateObject("access.application")

View 4 RepliesI am exporting data from vb.net to excel and it is dropping the leading zero when its displayed on excel. How can I avoid the dropping of leading zero? I read the solution of adding a single quote but it makes my excel sheet column ugly. Also users will complain if they see a single quote on zip code field.vb.net code
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment)
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"
Response.Charset = ""
the stored procedure outputs XML and it is transformed by XSLT before it is displayed on EXCEL

<xsl:template match="/">

adding a single quote or manipulating excel sheet with column formatter (general/numbers ) etc. I don't want user to make any changes on excel to get the display properly when the excel is displayed from web page it should be all set with proper formatting. also we have no control over client excel software?

I have an asp:table which I want to exported to excel. One of my fields are alpha numeric and when exported to excel the leading 0s are stripped off. After going through this thread: Validation (CSS 2.0): 'mso-number-format' is not a known CSS property name I would like to use the css method "mso-number-format:@;.But the css is not exported to excel. I just tried to test it with simpler css things like bold font etc but its not getting carried over. I can see that if I surround my asp:Label with tags this change gets carried over to the excel but not the css bold . Other solutions in other thread does not work for me as ="00111" shows up as desired in excel but in the web form it shows up as ="00111" which is not what i want.
View 2 RepliesI need to export Chart(image) and grid (tabular) row data into excel file. I can not use automation because Office tools are not installed in my server. I've found a bunch of free/proprietary tools like:

JetCell (DevTrio)
Aspose.Cells (Aspose)
But I do not know which one is better for my needs. I need to export not only grid row data but also Chart (image), thats why I am thinking about.
