FTP Download Throws 550 Error But Not If I Manually Step Through The Debugger?

Apr 23, 2012

I am attempting to list files within a folder on an FTP site. When I run the debugger, I get a clean run the first time with no problems. Subsequent attempts lead to a 550 error: "The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)." However, If I step through the process in debugger, It works fine. I'm thinking this is a timeout issue because there are many files within the folder. Any suggestions?

Private Sub ListFTP(ByVal Directory As String)
Dim Req As FtpWebRequest = Nothing
Dim Response As FtpWebResponse = Nothing

IDE :: Debugger F8 Step Into And Other Function Keys Not Working?

Sep 30, 2010

I've reviewed the other posts regarding this subject. I'm using VB from Excel and the function keys are not working. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium with Office Ultimate 2007 Looks like Excel is running VB 6.5So, this used to work for me...I've used the debugger quite a bit. When I try the solutions suggested Tools->Options->Keyboard (after checking check-box to show all settings) when I click on the box just below "Apply the following additional keyboard scheme" the only item in the list is default. There is no selection for VB 6 or anything else for that matter.

Manually Download Microsoft Framework 3.5 / 4.0?

Sep 12, 2010

Is it possible to manually download the Microsoft Framework 3.5 or 4.0 ? That would be useful in order to have it during installation of a program . I know that when installing a VB .NET program , it asks to connect and download it , if the PC does not have it already . The problem is that some people have a very slow connection speed or don't even have any connection . Therefore it would be useful to have that installation kit in order to supply it along with program itself .

AxMediaPlayer Step Function Doesn't Step Backwards

Nov 10, 2011

I have a program that plays a video and uses the step function to move frame by frame backwards and forwards through the video. The forward frame works just fine:

AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.Ctlcontrols.step(1)

However, the backwards step (below) jumps a full second backwards while the forwards step only steps .033 seconds forward (presumably a single frame).

AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.Ctlcontrols.step(-1)

I can't find any documentation about this problem online and in fact I can't find much mention of this function.the documentation does say the -1 command should step back one frame. IWMPControls2::step method Is this a known bug or is there an updated function I should be using?

Asp.net - Step By Step User Interaction Pattern?

Jul 1, 2011

I have a wizard where users need to fill out data. You cannot navigate to the second step until first step is completed.

I enforced this behavior by disabling/enabling "Next" button, but I really do not like this solution, since it seems not really elegant or safe here. What is the good approach on building step-by-step processes with enforcing step completion.

Getting Selected Rows From Listview Always Throws Out Error

Feb 8, 2012

I am trying to get the selected rows from a listview. To achieve this, I did this:

Dim numsel As Integer
numsel = Me.ListView1.Items.Count
For countme As Integer = 0 To numsel

[Code]....

It does count the selected rows, but it always throws out the error saying "ArgumentOutOfRange Exception", or something along those lines. For example, if I selected a row, it will output the results of that row. But the loop goes on. I tried everything I can but to no avail. I specifically want to select multiple rows, and I can achieve that if someone can assist me with this simple "problem" I have.

Valid Number Throws Overflow Error

Oct 6, 2010

I have a major problem. Things were going great until I came across this little bug(?) which has thrown a stick in my spokes. As I will demonstrate below, it seems that when defining certain numbers Visual Studio will throw an overflow error.
Dim T As ULong = 14774537964905701134 'Overflow error in the IDE
Dim M As ULong = ULong.MaxValue '(18446744073709551615) we are below the maximum value so it should work, right?

The one solution I have found is that we can use the following declaration instead.
Dim T As ULong = ULong.Parse("14774537964905701134")
However, to make matters even more complicated the value in question is unknown and must be compiled using CodeDOM so using the Parse method isn't an option. Unless there is some way I can determine if that value in particular will give me an overflow error.

Webbrowser.navigate To Tif Throws Browser Error?

Oct 27, 2009

I recently upgrade a project from vb 6 to 2008. Most of the code runs fine.I have a webbrowser form control that I use to navigate local files and display them with. (i have a file list box that you click which calls the navigate of the browser control). Most file types i have test work fine and display just as they would in a real browser window. Excel, PDFs, etc... so examples of files that utilize "plugins" like acrobat reader inside the browser work great. Tiff files are the exception. No error is thrown in vb, but the browser throws 2 runtime errors, included at the end here. After the browser errors are ignored the program continues execution but will just not display the file.

i can type the path to the file (eg c: estfielsfilename.tif) in a regular browser window and it displays just like it should, inside IE, using a plugin.Prior to upgrading, depending on what was installed on the computer, navigating to a tif would open the tif with picture and fax viewer, or display it with a tif viewer plugin.

Why JIT Debugger Control Transfers Error To Program When Run In Debug Mode And Goes On In Infinited Loop

Jan 27, 2010

I cant figure why the VB JIT Debugger control transfers the error to the program when I run in Debug mode and goes on in an infinited loop... I am using VB.NET 2008 and MS Access as the database backend. What I am trying to do here is that whenever I catch an exception (I have some C# code dll added to this main program and it should catch the unhandled exception and the addhandler routine will follow suit. So the moment any unhandled exception is caught MyHandler method is invoked and I need to take the backup of the database (Delete if the original file exists, copy the *.bak file as the original file name(was created during new file development) ,name it as *.mdb ) show a customized messagebox warning the user to abort (custom crash dialog instead of the standard default one)Somehow Myhandler goes in an infinite loop stop at line Globals.startBackup inside Private Sub MyHandler..Any idea on this weird AppDomain.Unhandled exception and how to prevent this from happening? Asp.net - DropDownList Throws An Error When A ListItem Is Not Present Anymore?
