Jun 30, 2010I'm fairly new to VB.NET but have been programming for a while. Anyway, for the life of me I can't figure out how to properly populate a datagridview in .NET. I am using VS 2010. I add the control to the form, click the arrow on the control and select "add project data source". From there, I select Database, then Dataset, choose and ODBC data source, the table I want to use and enter the data set name.

I have a datagridview with data from a datatable, this datatable have these fields (id,num1,num2, date,user,ref,qt,cost,center), some of them are hided in the dgv (id,num1,num2,date,user). The user can edit,delete and add new rows to the dgv.
I have a save button that performs this actions:
First check if there are new rows, and if yes it fill the hidden fields. Then validate the inserted values by the user with a couple of ifs. In the end, i call the bindingsource EndEdit, and call the adapter Update command against the datatable...
This sometimes works others not really, i don't understand why.
The error it's: "Concurrency violation: the DeleteCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records"
I think sometimes when Updating it occurs to.

Aug 12, 2011Ok so this is going to take some explaining. The process I am trying to do is grab data from a table function in SQL and then fill a dataset with the returned values. I then have to run this query twice more to query an alternative number table. Then add to the same table as the previous queries.This needs to be as fast as possible, so I am currently using an adapter.fill to populate the datasets and then a dataset.merge to put them all into one table.
The problem is the query can return duplicates which waste time and space, because of this I made column 3(part_ID) the primary key to stop duplicates.When this is run with the .merge it quits at the first instance of a duplication and doesn't continue with the population.

May 3, 2011I have a DataTable that's constantly being updated with new data from my database via a timer. That data is eventually reformatted and displayed in a DataGridView control.In an effort to prevent the DataGridView from completely refreshing from re-databinding (thus, clearing out selections, resetting scrollbars, defaulting sorting settings, and making the gridview flash as it reupdates), I'm simply removing old rows from the datagrid that no longer exist in the DataTable, and adding new rows to the datagrid that appear in the DataTable since the last update.
For the sake of simplicity, we'll call DataGridView the LEFT table, and DataTable the RIGHT table I'm looking for a way to go through both tables (LEFT and RIGHT), and remove old rows that are no longer in RIGHT and delete them from LEFT. And look for new items in RIGHT and add them to LEFT. Each table has a column called "RecID" containing a unique id for each entry that can be used for comparison. is there a way to do this all in one loop? What I'm looking for, in pseudo code:
<loop through everything>
if RecID does not exist in LEFT but exists in RIGHT
add new item to LEFT
if RecID does exist in LEFT but does not exist in RIGHT

I would like to have a child form that contains a list of columns associated with the datatable that contains a checkbox that will allow the user to hide and show the columns ( I do not know the best control to use here) (I assume this is the easy part as All i need to do is loop through each of the datatable's columns to get the column name)

1st case .Can i retrieve the data simply with NO oledbparameteres and NO " select * xxx where yyy like 'd' ".I think there is a issue with the Oledb connection that "omits" them.To explain better the query right now with the filters in access returns 3 rows, without the filters 30 rows,can i get just the 3 rows to do my job... 2nd case .
