Oct 2, 2009I am working on a very basic draw poker program. I need to analyze the hands. So far I have been able to identify a a pair, straight, a flush , and a straight flush. I'm not sure how to find three of a kind, full house, etc I have a function that uses a hash table to find out if there are duplicates in my array. I can use it identfy a sequence of cards. (i.e. if it returns a 5, that would be five cards in sequence) I'm not sure how to/if at all to use this for a pair , three of kind etc.. Maybe a differant approach would be useful. I've tried various pseudo code idea on paper and just don't see it.

Apr 21, 2009I've created a class that inherits from CollectionBase that populates with a custom object type. I populate the custom collection and set it as the datasource for a ListBox control and set the appropriate DisplayMember value to one of the properties of my custom object.
While the binding behaviour is working great, I'm trying to polish up the UI because when the list of objects is somewhat long, there is a momentary flash where the ListBox displays the custom classname which is then replaced with the appropriate display data. I'd like to keep that initial flash of the ToString() method from appearing. I tried SuspendLayout() and ResumeLayout() on the control and the form, but neither keeps the flash from occuring.
What am I missing?

Jun 28, 2010I am in the process of converting vb6 assemblies to VB.NET.I am trying to overcome a particular design challenge.I have a vb6 EXE sitting on a Terminal Server which is shared between multiple customers.Each customer has customizations in the form of overrides to this EXE in custom business logic contained within DLL's.We know what DLL to look at based on a setting in the database.We use the CreateObject ("CustomerDLLName.CustomerClass") method to create late bound objects.If the object is "not nothing", we check for override code.For example, if my base EXE has a sub called PrintForm, based on the logged in user I may use the base sub within the executable, or I may need to use the sub in a custom DLL:

Asp.net - Element 'system.webServer' Has Invalid Child Element 'rewrite'?
Feb 14, 2012I have a number of rewrite rules for a lot of things that I did in IIS7, like removing trailing slashes, canonnical URLs, lowercase lettering, and such. IIS altered my web.config, and everything works fine on the website, like it should. But in the Visual Studio web.config, the opening < rewrite > statement is underlined in blue, and at the bottom of VS, it says that the element 'system.webServer' has invalid child element 'rewrite'. But this is how IIS made it. I didn't do this manually. Should I be concerned with this VS error, or should I just leave as be, since it's working how it should work? I am waiting for an email to arrive (the page automatically refreshes) and then I want to click the link (I do not need to click to open the email or anything like that) I also have the code to click and navigate to the address reason being it was the only way I could figure out how to stop it opening in a new window on IE
So my only problem is I need a way to check every x seconds for the element and then if its there proceed with my code and if its not wait and then check again or however this is done in VB.If this is not the way its done please point me in the right direction the code I am using to find and then navigate to the link is

The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?
