I am having a little trouble with the folowing code. I made it so that it searches column "U" in the excel spreadsheet and for bcode that is input into a text box. The code runs perfectly the first time it runs but if i try to search a second time it gives me this error " Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A01A8"

Ive been trying to figure out how to find the next empty row in an excel spreadsheet.My project is a VB project, written in Visual Studio 2010 Express.What i need to do is open the spreadsheet (that is predefined) and find the next available row. I'm using vb.net to check that certain Excel or Word documents exist in a folder.
EG

If the documents are created using Excel 97 or Word 97 the files are found. If the the documents are created using Excel 2007 or Word 2007 the files are not found.
I have checked the permissions between the two different versions and they appear to be the same.
why Dir dosen't work with Excel 2007 and Word 2007 files?
Using VB.NET i want find a specific string that occurs in column B of an Excelsheet and copy that entire row and paste it in a new worksheet. This string occurs a couple of times in this B column.I know how to open up an excel sheet in VB but I'm having difficulties searching for the string and then copying that entire row and do it multiple times (loop until the end of the column)

This works great but I now want to adjust the series length so that the charts only used the data collected (not a range of 32000). I'm trying to iterate through the charts and determine the range for each series of each chart but not having much luck. The snippet below allows me to see the xvalues but does not return any information as to where this data is located. Does anyone know how to extract the range for each series in a chart?

I am taking a VB2008 class and I have the entire program figured out except for one thing. I've checked our text I've scoured the internet and I've tried tons of things.
What this section of code does is access a data file, calculate the average from it... done.. that works, calculates the highest number in it... done that works... and calculate the lowest number from the file... nope... not working. I've tried tons of things and what i have in there now keeps giving me an output of 0, when it should be a 2.

how to find the row position/index in a data table, using a value from another table. For example, I use the row position from Linkingtable1 to get my value for CustomerID, but i want to use the CustomerID to search the CustomerTable for its row position, in order to show the Customers Name in a text box, As currently when loading the textbox shows the customerID. I understand the code to get the names from the rows in the datatable, its just finding the row position of the customerID.

I have a binary file. If I look at it with a hex editor, the first values are:208, 207, 17, 224, 161, 177, 26, 225, 0, 0, 0, ... etc.It has a length of 330240 bytes I have tried to open it and read it into a string so I can manipulate it and write it back. No matter what I use, I either don't get the correct number of bytes or the values in the string are incorrect. The most common error results in the first values being: 63, 63, 17, 63, 63, 26, 0, 0, 0 .... etc.It is interesting that it appears that any value > 63 becomes 63.
I get the 2nd values by a simple loop:

I have tried a whole number of ways to read in the file, including filestream, My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText, File.io.readAllLines, etc.All either give me a string length of about 324000 (not sure why) or, if they do, don't have the correct values. Yes, I have tried various encoding options.
I need to find a string (sort of like: "D" & Chr(0) + "L" & Chr(0) + "S" & Chr(0)... ) so I can then replace that portion of the string with a new value, then write out the file.I use the ".indexOf" to find the data in the string.Why can't I load the file into a string? Or, do you know of an easy way to find some text (similar to above) in a file and then replace the next x number of bytes with a new value and close the file?
I created a VBA project in Excel. I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel �workbook.data�, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells �workbook.results� and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".
I am reading in data from an excel file that is only viewed inside the program. This excel file is being populated by data from multiple PLCs (7) through DDE links via RS Linx Gateway. I would like this data to be written to two different excel files and specific sheets within those so that it can be viewed later on.
My program has a form that will allow the user to view the data live, meaning they look at the first excel file from the program so that they are not able to edit the DDE links or change the file in any way. The other excel files (there will be two, one for good parts, one for bad parts) have specific sheets for each part and each tester station. For example, if the part is a ABC part, and it is a good part, and it was tester on tester station 1 then it needs to be saved to the good parts excel file, in the ABC sheet and in the good tester station 1 sheet.
If part XYZ comes along and is a bad part (fails testing) then it needs to be saved to the bad parts file, the XYZ sheet and the bad tester station 1 sheet.I might have added more detail than is needed to solve the problem but I thought I would add it anyways to help you all understand my problem a little better.
I typed this question once already, hit preview, and somehow never got the preview and lost what I typed. It has been that kind of a day.So here is my quick overview then I am going shopping. I am using OLE DB to select from an excel spreadsheet. It has over 15000 rows and 33 columns. Sometimes even when a cell is not null, it is returning a null value. If I just do a "select * where [termination date] is not null", for example, it will return no rows even though I can see with my own eyes that sometimes termination date is not null.

I was using ContentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" on my web site to display a datatable in an excel workbook on the client. It worked great. Now that I have upgraded to Office 2007 and vb.net 2010, I get a warning saying that the file is in a different format than specified by the file extension (.xls). I googled new ways of exporting data to excel, but have yet to find a good example. I usedMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel which worked great, except I read that you are not supposed to use this on a web server.

I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .
