Fixed Number Of Rows For A Data-bound Datagridview?
Jan 22, 2012
Anybody have tried having fixed number (painted) of rows on a datagridview regardless of the number of rows of the datasource??? i.e. datagridview will still show 20 rows even if the the datasource have 8 rows only? like gridlines already painted as is - with/without datasource binded.
I have two datagridview's both are databound. First one shows items for sale and the second stores all the items that were sold. I am trying too transfer selected rows from one to the other but no matter what I keep getting told "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound."
Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.
I have DataGridView display Customers Details. The DataSource are from DataSet. After the user have created a new customer record and updated the SQL SERVER Table, Instread of refreshing the whole DataGridView I am trying to add new rows with data from the TEXTBOX into the DataGridView and it generated this error message: Rows cannot be programmatically added to DataGridView's row collection when the control is data-bound This is the coding which the error was generated from:
Private Sub FRefreshDataGridViewRow() 'use strmode to determine New or Edit existing record Dim strCell1 As String = CType(Me.txtCustId.Text, String) Dim strCell2 As String = CType(Me.txtCompName.Text, String)
With a DataGridView bound to a bindingsource, which is filled by da.fill(ds) . How do I go about deleting selected rows when the UserDeletingRow event is fired? I've used the following code in the event:
Dim dsEmplTran As New DataSet daEmplTran.Fill(dsEmplTran) dsEmplTran.Tables(0).Rows(dgvEmplTran.SelectedRows(0).Index).Delete() Dim cb As New SqlCommandBuilder(daEmplTran)
I am trying to develop a scheduler for my workplace for which I am using a datagridview. The data displayed in the datagridview is bound to a SQL server database.
I need to be able to drag and drop rows so that the any job with a high priority and a nearer deadline can just be dragged from anywhere in the grid and dropped to the topmost point in the grid. I don't mind using two buttons (up and down) to do it either. But I am not able to figure out a way to do it.
Is there a way to add rows to a DGV as I want to add information from another form to the DGV. The .Rows.Add() does not work as I am told I can not add rows to a data bound grid.Short of unbinding the DGV and re writing everything, I can not see how to do it.
Is it possible to number the rows in DataGridView ( does this property exist)? When I load the data from the database to DataGridView I want to show thenumbers of row. like this
I have a window form with a label. On the form I have a dataset, bindingsoure, and tableadaptor (all created by the IDE in response to binding the text property of the label) To fill the datatable, the IDE created this: Me.ClientsTableAdapter.Fill(Me.MyDataSet.Clients) Works fine. The bound field is a phone number, stored in the db as a 10 digit numeric string I need to format this with the standard ()-, and I have a function that will do just that. How can I apply the formatting so the phone number appears in the label properly?
I have a dgvAssetsSummary which holds data queried from the database, it hold's the AssetType column and Total column, it's grouped by AssetType, giving a summary of all the totals and what assettype they belong to.I'd like the Total column to be formatted so that there are no decimals and with commas, at present each total has four decimal places and no commas, this needs to be able to be read easily by clients. I've tried using the following code to format the column after I query the database, but to no avail.
I have a datagridview created for my windows app in 2005 and I'm not sure how to get it to grow and shrink, depending on the number of rows that are displayed. The form contains several filters for the user to use in order to get their desired recordset displayed in the grid and therefore, the size of the grid will be constantly changing. How is this usually handled?
I have a datagirdview which I need to process.. I have more than 50000 rows and 200 columns in it. DataGridView accepts columnindex and rowindex only in the form of integer. Is there any way in which I can use long instead of integer.
I am a programmer from Uruguay. I have read the other similar questions about my problem, but nobody has given the answer I need. I use VB .net 2005 and its datagridview. I bind it to a dataset which is populated with a table of MySql. And when I sort the numeric columns, it sorts them as string, not numbers. I have tried casting the data to integer in the sql statement, but it doesn`t work. I changed the format of the column of the datagridview to single or long but it didn't worked either. I really can't believe it is happening, it is a so common need! I thingk It should be totally automatic.
I have a UI that uses datagridviews / bindingsource / datatables of typed dataset for data entry. The dataset itself is serialized to a varbinary(max) in SQL. (i.e. no tableadapter, backend schema).I would like to limit the number of rows the user can enter into some of the grids (the data is used to fill PDF forms and I don't want them entering more rows than the forms can accomodate.).I have subclassed the datagridview, added a rowlimit property and tried to manipulate the AllUsertoAddRows property
Imports System.Windows.Forms Public Class dgv Inherits System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView[code]......
The behavior I see is that the messagebox comes up after leaving the max row even when the user is trying to leave the grid. I can lose the messagebox and deal with notification some other way but I thought someone else may have come up with something a little more sophisticated to handle simply causing attempting to add to many records to navigate out of the grid to the next UI control.
with more control over changing values in a data bound DataGridView. On form load, all the data is pulled down from the attached database and fills the gridIf I want to change one of the values in the grid, I can put my mouse cursor in the cell, change the entry and save it back to the database.
I have searched the web and this site for an answer but have not been able to solve this problem.I am not able to place a flashing cursor in a specified cell of a data bound DataGridView on Form_Load.My test project consists of a single Visual Basic 2008 form with a database created in Microsoft SQL Express 2005 using the Add New Data Source in the Data Sources window. The database has one table consisting of 2 columns.Column 1 being the primary key with Identity Specification set to On.The second column is a VarChar50.The DataGridView was placed on the form by dragging it from the Data Sources window thereby creating the Binding Navigator and the Private_Sub Form_Load code.I have added the code that should put the cursor where I want it.[code]
I have a DataGridView object to which I've bound a list of objects (of type Asset) returned from a database query.I'm programming in VB using Visual Studio 2005.I want to grab two copies of the bound object (calling them oldAsset and newAsset) from the selected row in the DataGridView, update newAsset based on input from other controls on the form, and pass both oldAsset and newAsset to a function that will update the appropriate record in the DB.I try to grab the two copies like this:
Dim currentRow As DataGridViewRow = Me.AssetDataGridView.CurrentRow Dim newAsset As Asset newAsset = currentRow.DataBoundItem
[code]....
Opening a watch window on oldAsset and newAsset indicates that the appropriate values are pulled at this point. But when I try to change a property of just newAsset, like
I have a datagridview that is populated from an Oracle 11g DB. What I would like to do is add the values of a column together and display the results in a textbox. What would be the easiest way to do this?
I have a DataGridView that is bound to a DataSet I created from a database table named Contacts. The Contacts table contains a field called StatusId. StatusId is a foreign key to a table called Status. The Status table contains StatusId and StatusName.
i wanted to create a random number generator that iterates through a series of number between an upper and lower bound. say between 1 and 100. Basically I want the number generator to pick the numbers randomly and then display them until all 100 numbers are picked without any duplicates. so thats easy I can code that. But what I don't know is how to show those numbers in the order they are generated on a windows form. So i have basically a variable that I will let be changed 100 times (or however many times I want, I don't want their to be a size constraint just using 100 as an example) and each time the number is generated I want it displayed on screen (in a list or something not sure what. Hopefully some type of scrollable list) and each successive number also to be displayed in same format beneath it so that I can see the list in its entirety. What type of form control do i use for that? I could do messagebox.show for each iteration but then user is required to hit ok after each iteration and that would obviously be a bad idea if user selected a large number to work through. Anyways, code isn't exactly necessary just point me in the right direction, i.e.what control (if any) to use.how to format the change in data?
I am currently using DevExpress 10.2 within Visual Studio 2010. In a previous question I was trying to print the current user view of a DevExpress GridControl with the user's choice of expanded or collapsed master rows and/or group sections. I was told this was not possible at this time. I have now decided to use the following code:
