how would you select a row in a datagridview if the number of rows = 1
View 6 RepliesI have a datagridview created for my windows app in 2005 and I'm not sure how to get it to grow and shrink, depending on the number of rows that are displayed. The form contains several filters for the user to use in order to get their desired recordset displayed in the grid and therefore, the size of the grid will be constantly changing. How is this usually handled?
View 10 RepliesAnybody have tried having fixed number (painted) of rows on a datagridview regardless of the number of rows of the datasource??? i.e. datagridview will still show 20 rows even if the the datasource have 8 rows only? like gridlines already painted as is - with/without datasource binded.
View 12 RepliesI have a datagirdview which I need to process.. I have more than 50000 rows and 200 columns in it. DataGridView accepts columnindex and rowindex only in the form of integer. Is there any way in which I can use long instead of integer.
View 2 RepliesI have a UI that uses datagridviews / bindingsource / datatables of typed dataset for data entry. The dataset itself is serialized to a varbinary(max) in SQL. (i.e. no tableadapter, backend schema).I would like to limit the number of rows the user can enter into some of the grids (the data is used to fill PDF forms and I don't want them entering more rows than the forms can accomodate.).I have subclassed the datagridview, added a rowlimit property and tried to manipulate the AllUsertoAddRows property
Imports System.Windows.Forms
Public Class dgv
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView[code]......
The behavior I see is that the messagebox comes up after leaving the max row even when the user is trying to leave the grid. I can lose the messagebox and deal with notification some other way but I thought someone else may have come up with something a little more sophisticated to handle simply causing attempting to add to many records to navigate out of the grid to the next UI control.
I have two datagridview's both are databound. First one shows items for sale and the second stores all the items that were sold. I am trying too transfer selected rows from one to the other but no matter what I keep getting told "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound."
View 2 Replieswhen populating a data grid i keep getting a redundant row in the bottom. is there a way to lock grid rows to the number of rows in the data table?
View 1 RepliesI am currently using DevExpress 10.2 within Visual Studio 2010. In a previous question I was trying to print the current user view of a DevExpress GridControl with the user's choice of expanded or collapsed master rows and/or group sections. I was told this was not possible at this time. I have now decided to use the following code:

how do i count the number of rows that are affected when I updated a table, and display the number of affected rows in a message box ??
here is my code for updating the table ...

How would i delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If i dont delete the successful rows then i will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! AND if i dont move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. You can better see what logic i am trying to perform at the bottom of my code, right after I insert into the database. Here is my code.
Private Sub btnLaserGenerateTicket_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLaserGenerateTicket.Click
'Function declarations

Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound.
how to add Rows programmatically to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound? here is my code but i got error as "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound? "

Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.

It was even difficult coming up with a Question title for this.
Am not sure whether am using the right approach to my problem. See i have this datagridview that contains rows that i would like have saved back into the Database as new rows but with a column altered to a new value.
Eg
PKColumn1 FKColumn2
Column3 Column4
1 1
[Code].....
What am looking at is Change FKColumn2 (some foreign key, maybe i can also have a combo box somewhere on the form and an "import to") values to something like 2 and save the rows back to the database without loosing the original rows.
I have several problems with rows in a DataGridView. Background information: The DataGridView (DataGridViewCalib) is in one TabPage of a TabControl, some columns of the DataGridView are automatically DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn as the DataSource have some colums which are Boolean. This is a Windows Form written in VB.Net with Visual Studio 2008. The user loads an input data file.
The problems:
1) At first arrival in the TabPage, ShowDataGridViewCalib (code below) is called. All rows are then shown in the DataGridView, despite the code saying that some rows should not be visible. Breakpoints in the code show that the code do arrive at the Rows.Visible = False events. Despite all rows beeing shown a Watch in the debugger shows that:

There are two alternative ways of handling the rows in the code. The first attempt (commented away here) is probably the "nicest".
In VB.NET 2008 I've two forms 1 & 2 containing two datagridviews connected to two data source 'ACCESS 2007 tables' Now I want to select multiple rows from one datagridview (form1) & transferring these to another empty datagridview (form2) with a button_click.

I have a VB report which contains a list of locations. I have this list separated into areas and I need to count the total number of rows per area section. I have a groupHeader which contains my area field, then in the group I list the corresponding entries for that area. Then in the groupFooter I would like to give the total number of entries in the group. How can I do this? I have two fields in my groupFooter
groupCount
groupTotalAmount
I am using a tableadapter to connect my project to an MS database. I need a a function which counts the number of rows in the table for something which I am doing. I have sucessfully used the count function to count the number of rows for my other tables, but when I tried to reuse it for another table, it wouldn't work. I get an error...
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in System.Data.dllAdditional information: Input string was not in a correct format.Couldn't store <AH25> in ProductCode Column. Expected type is Int32.
and this is the code which I used
Dim record As Integer = TAProduct.GetData.Rows
Do Until record = TAProduct.GetData().Count
' other codes
loop
It only seems to work if the first column is an integer datatype, which is the case for my other tables, but the table which I am currently dealing with using a string datatype. Is there another way to count the number of rows without using SQL statements or can I adapt my existing code in some way?
After connecting to a database using DataReader, how can I count the number of rows ?
View 2 RepliesI am currently having trouble detecting the number of rows in the table in sql database. I have one column as auto increment, and one column that will show the blkname. But everytime I delete off one row, the program cannot run saying that there is no row at position "up to the latest number". Then, when I try to insert back the row again, the program also gives me the same error. I think the program probably cannot detect the number of rows correctly as it cannot like detect if there is 5 rows in the database and if you delete one row, it will give me the error. The above method is the same if I used the auto increament column and without.
The code that I have wrote so far is :
'AUTOINCREMENT
Dim n As Integer
Dim inc As Integer
Dim numbers() As Integer
Dim StartFrom As Integer
Dim EndAt As Integer
Dim MaxRows As Integer
MaxRows = ds2.Tables("CustDetail").Rows.Count
[Code] .....
I want to get the number of rows where col1 is Null. datatable.compute(count("col1"), "col1 Is Null") always returns 0, and I am sure there are more than 1 rows with col1 is null.
View 2 Repliesi have a table name employee_log...and one of the column name is enroll_no...i just want to count the number of rows of that table ....and display that result ie integer value in textbox..... i used count function but i dun the syntax...
View 2 RepliesSimple question but it is killing.
How do I write an expression, that return the number of rows where a column is equal something.
I can get the total rows like this: =Count(Fields!Foo.Value) and RowNumber("Rapporter")
But I can't get the number of rows where Foo is equal to someString
Foo is a type string.
I am trying a small application here. It is a windows mobile application. I have to create a form with one drop down and a datagrid.Once a value is selected in the dropdown. The focus goes to the data grid.I know before hand that there is only one column. But I dont know how many rows the user will enter. When the foucs comes to datagrid then one row is created where the use will enter a number. When he hits tab or enter a new row is created and the cursor goes there and the user can enter second number. When he tabs or etnerts a new row is created. This should go on until he presses Save button when all these values will go in the database table.
