Form Populate Through Databinding
Oct 22, 2009I have this form Customer which is designed with labels, textboxes and comboboxes. I want to populate them by way of databinding. How can i do this??

Populate Text Property And Items Of Combobox Not Using Databinding?
May 12, 2010 I'm rewriting a VB6 application in VB.Net. So far I have 2 forms, frmLocations (frm1) and frmLocationInfo (frm2). frmLocations has a combobox, cboLocations, from which a selection is made and an "Ok" button is clicked, which then loads frmLocationInfo. frmLocationInfo has a series of textboxes to display info corresponding to the location that was selected - Location, Location Number, Phone, Fax, Email. There are also 3 comboboxes on frmLocationInfo - cboDepot, cboFreight, and cboDispatcher. I need their text property along with items to be populated, also with data corresponding to the initial selection made on frmLocations. I'll spare you all the difficulties I'm having w/the other comboboxes, and instead focus on cboDepot. I have gotten it to populate its text property to display the corresponding Depot, however, the items are not populating and all you see now when you click on the dropdown arrow is only the depot that shows up in the text property.

Apr 27, 2010I have a form, frm1 w/a combobox, cboLocations, which is being populated using a sql string. There is also a frm2 w/a series of textboxes and other comboboxes. I want it so that once a selection is made from cboLocations, the textboxes and comboboxes on frm 2 are populated with the corresponding data. Here is what I have so far:

Databinding To Hidden Form Fields?
Nov 19, 2010I'm using simple data binding and have in total 3 fields on my Form and 2 of them are hidden. The two hidden fields are calculated by filling in the first one. bellow you find the code I'm using, when the update is done only the first field that is fill in is written to the Database. How can I change the code to get all 3 of them written to the Database

Updating Two Tables Using A Databinding From Within A Form?
May 16, 2011I have three tables Tasks, Notes & CallTypes Each item in Tasks and Notes has a relationship to CallTypes and my form edits work fine. However: Notes only belong to tasks, and when i update the note record we will need to change the CallType for the Task as well as for the Note and they could both be different.
I have the Notes working fine, but i cannot update the tasks. I have created a databindng on to a form from the datasources window. All the notes fields are ok and are working I then add the calltype field from the tasks, draged from the data sources window (i dont want all of the tasks fields, just the calltype).
The code does not through up errors, but when i save the form it only updates the notes and not the tasks.

My target is simply binding these controls to an XML file so that whenever the file contents are changed externally, the text box values change dynamically. Nov 26, 2011I am missing something simple. I know how to bind asp.net datagrids and webforms, but this is my first time trying to bind to an object list of T in a windows form. (I am use to using datasets with datatables and im trying to get away from doing that).I have a simple object list that gets populated on the form load. However if I click a button to add a dummy record the datagridview does not display the new record added. The bindingNavigator (if clicked nextrecord) and "debug stops" all show that the new record I just added to the object list is there.
Even adding the datasource object in the watch list shows the new records are there. They are just not displaying.
I cannot seem to figure out as to why the new record is not being displayed in the datagridview when I can see the record got clearly added to the datasource.

Cannot Populate Controls After Reopening Form
Apr 26, 2011Platform: Visual basic 2008, MySQL 5.1.x, Windows XP, MysQL connector-net 6.2.3
The program has an MDI parent and its child forms. When opening one of the child form, the program seems to be working fine (it populates data from mysql and presents it to corresponding textbox, list and other controls). When you click Edit and save the data, the data is successfully saved and updated. But when you close the particular child form (without closing the MDI) and reopen it again, it cannot populate the controls (textboxes, etc.) with data.

Jan 14, 2011I can do this easily with table adapter, but I can't seem to use variables in the table adapters connection string, or specify the connection string to use before "filling". Is there a way to populate the form without using any sort of binding? Currently I've used this method - a search form that populates a list box, and on the double click action I have this:

I have a textbox that displays the date, however, when I try to assign a date value I am getting the error message that I cannot set the textbox value to a textfield. Is there a way to assign the date value to the textbox?

Populate Combobox When Form Loads?
Feb 28, 2012is what I have so far. I have a form that needs to load a file externally and populate the combobox. I can get that part if I use a button, but I don't want to use a button. I want it to populate when the form loads for the first time. The below code does not accomplish this, it doesn't even try to load it. I put break points in this code but it never breaks

DataGridView - Won't Populate Second Time Form Is Called
Jan 28, 2011I am building a program where for part of it the user can enter a parameter which will then query a database and populate a DataTable with the results if the number of results is greater than 1 it will call a "lookup" form to popuate a DataGridView with the DataTable, from this the user can select a row and the result is passed back to the main form or if the result is not there the "lookup" can be closed.
This works fine the first time the parameter is used to query and opens the "lookup" form and populates the DGV, but if the user returns the the main program after using the lookup form and enters a new parameter and the lookup form opens again the DataGridView is not created and populated. But i am 99% sure the DateTable is being populated as if the row count is 1 it will automatically return the single value and this is happening even after the lookup form has been used.
So it is just when the Lookup form is being used a second time the DataGridView is not being popuated or the DataTable is not being passed.

Feb 22, 2010I have a system that I need to connect to an access database. Once connected, I have a form that allows a new customer to be entered into text boxes. I need to then take the data in the text boxes and save them in the database table.On a similar note, I have another form, where the customer details can be updated. Basically, by searching for a Customer reference number in the database, the form is populated with the table data. Then I want a button that will update/overwrite any chages made.

Aug 18, 2011I want to display (DataGridView's) selected row contents (each cell value on appropriate text box) on text boxes on the form. This should be fairly simple task for experienced i am sure.So far i haven't been able to find a single working solution to accomplish that as most of the articles are written for VB / VB 2005/ VB 2008 and not VB 2010.

For searching there should also be a sort function/button (by last name then first name).If the user deletes from the list the corresponding data in the file will be deleted.If the user picks from or adds to the list, I'd like to find the best way to populate the corresponding data elements on another form (i.e., in their respective text boxes).
