VS 2010 Stopping Users From Minimizing The Form (even Using "Show Desktop")
Feb 24, 2010I am writing a little app to take over from Active Desktop as we are using Win7.
I am having problems getting my form to stay open, if the user hits the "Show Desktop" button the form minimises. I need this to stay open at all times in the back ground.
I have disbled the minimise button to stop the users using it.
how I can stop this from happening or if I use a timer to check the windows state it apears normal as it looks like the "Show Desktop" button does not actually minimise the window!

Developing A Computer Application Designed To Monitor The Network And CPU Statistics On A Computer?
Jan 29, 2009I am developing a computer application designed to monitor the network and CPU statistics on a computer remotely. The monitored computer would have my program installed and the monitoring computer would display, in a form, the information being sent from the remote client.The application does not send any information regarding packets, user names, passwords, etc. It is solely meant for monitoring CPU performance and Network resources remotely.
What would be the best method to send this information over to my host machine?I am programing in Visual Studio 2008 on windows XP. The client machine is also XP. I know this sounds a little shady, but it is required for my little business (http://www.iquorum.net) to monitor what and when something happens on our machines when I and my employees are away.

VB Application Crashes When Trying To Show The Next Form
May 21, 2009I have a VB application in .NET Framework 2.0 and I'm using VS 2008 Professional for development. The application is running without any problem on some PCs and it's not running on one of the PCs. To make sure that nothing is wrong with the that specific PC, I tried to reproduce the issue on my machine. So I formatted my PC and reinstalled everything. After installing .NET Framework and required drivers, the ran the application i got the same error. Then I installed VS 2008 and open the project to debug my code and then I realized that the exception is being thrown on this line:

I was thinking about doing this part in radiobuttons
The application should be able to store at least 10 motor class objects in an array, create an input form in the application that allow users to input new motor records to be added to the array and create another form that displays all the motors in the array in a list box. This is what I got so far, I know its not much, but whats really puzzling me is how am I suppose to show all the data in the listbox in the second form.

Update Statistics In Window?
May 27, 2012I'm a novice that has developed a data processing application for which statistics regarding the processing status are recorded in the application window. All works well until an arbitrary point at which the statistical upates to the window cease. When the application finishes, then the application window properly displays the final results. However, intermediate to the completion of the application, all updates to the status window are suspended. Can you please inform me of the means by which I can continue to display the status updates when other activities appear to interrupt the updates prior to completion?

Jun 8, 2010I recently finished an application which I spent a long time making, but when I sent it to my friends so they could beta test, everyone single one of them said it stopped responding on start up. I took the .exe out of the project>bin>debug>application.exe and thats what I gave them, and it doesn't crash for me, so i was wondering what might be causing it to crash, or if they would need extra files for it to work properly?
Also, when my friend opened it, he says he got an error that says:

May 10, 2010I use a fontdialog box in my application allowing users to change the font details within my application. This works fine but unfortunatly I don't seem to be able to set the values in the dialogbox as they are read only.
Basically if the user has Bold Wingdings set and wishes to change it to something else then when they open up the fontdialog box I would like to be able to set the font to wingdings and bold so the user can see what they previously selected. Word seems to do this so why cant I?

I've made a small XML file in the VS2010 project with 1 class stats and made a list to 10 levels (to lazy atm to write all 85).
the XML looks like this:

On the Form1.vb I've to combo boxes, 1 to display class names and 1 for levels.
Also have some Labels to display i.e. the base_STR number. But after trying random stuff to get it linked and closed VB to restart again because it was messed up too much
.net - Application Updates Ignored By Users Are Never Reshown?
Feb 23, 2012I'm using the Application Updates option in Visual Studio with 'Before the Application Starts' checked.Users are complaining of canceling the update and then finding out they really want the update. When they decide they want to update there is no way for them to update the application until I publish a new version, because once they cancel the dialog box it never shows up again.
Is there a way to create a menu option to force a check for updates?
Kind of off-topic... Are there any open source Application Update programs for .NET?
