Forms :: Build Treeview From Database?

I have a treeview on a form and I want to allow the user to create a tree structure of their choice. What I mean by that is no limit to parent and child combinations, so basically have the same functionality as in Window Explorer.
Now comes the problem, what I want to be able to do is store this tree view hierarchy in a database, so that when they add a new node to the treeview it is stored in the database at the correct level. Then if the user closes the form and re-opens it loads the treeview hierarchy from the database.
I would really apreshiate some guidance on database table stucture and how I can loop through and build the treeview

I am trying to dynamically build a TreeView. I want to be able to expand a top level node & have any child nodes be added on the fly. The problem I'm running into is that I can't get the "+" symbol to appear if there are no subnodes to begin with. I could probably add a "dummy" subnode, then when the parent node is expanded I could delete the dummy node & add my real nodes, but that sounds cheesy.

Im currently trying to build a treeview from data like:

Which im trying to build into a tree like:

b
c
d

(So splitting at the .)However, im havign trouble getting the tree to work properly..Ive tried like creating a root node, then splitting each line of the input at the dot, but i just cant get it to work right.

I have a problems with my application..
1. collapse and expand treeview when i click plus sign (+) on treeview, treeview didn't expand subfolder but when i click image, treeview expand it.
2. showing path that i check on treeview when i check the treeview then i'm click the button, then return path that i check

I am using a treeview as a menu to open forms. Currently, I have a Select Case statement to determine what the node text is, then the form opens.With many forms, Im not too certain that a Select Case statment is the way to go.

If I build a Windows Forms project in Visual Studio 2008, and start it with a Sub Main instead of a form, and for the time being, don't show any forms, is it considered a Console application? Will console.writeline work?

I have been working with VB 6.0 for years. I am converting an app that uses treeviews to VB.Net 2008. The way it use to work the tree grid started with a list of the drives on the system. Left click drilled down in the selected drive or directory. Right click would perform an action with the selected drive or directory. In VB.Net it appears you can only select with left click using the AFTERSELECT event. Is there a way to select a node with right click?

Is there any way not make a Treeview (windows forms) Node gray it something exactly like how a particular folder turns into when we click on Ctrl+X on a folder in windows explorer. I tried with changing the backcolor but that not is like exactly I want.

I am working with buttons I have A treeview that when you click on a node it changes the text in textboxes and I need it to change the command the button does. So when a user clicks a node it changes text in 3 text boxes and changes the download link for the button. As you can see from the code all works fine but I need to use a button to download stuff and I dont know how the download code is

I'm developing a windows application. I have a form in which there is a list box and a treeview control. My purpose is to fill treeview according to list item clicks. This is done using a pair of subroutines called ReloadPermissions and FillMenuItem:

There are only two subroutines in which nodes are added to treeview control, and they are subroutines above. The problem is that whenever list item is clicked, node count displayed in treeview is increased!!! I checked number of nodes before and after call to tvPermissions.Nodes.Clear() using MsgBox. Results show that number of nodes isn't increased (1 before call, 0 after call, again 1 after ReloadPermissions() is called), but what is displayed doesn't show such a behavior! Refreshing window by putting it under other windows or call to tvPermissions.Refresh() has no effect.

I have been playing with, and researching, this all day and can't figure it out. I have a Windows Explorer style form with a TreeView and a ListView. I've populated the TreeView with directories and when a node is selected, the ListView fills with the contents of the directory associated with that node. No problem there, but I want to be able to select a directory in the ListView and automatically select the associated node in the TreeView, just like it works in Windows Explorer. All the information I've found online tells me how to populate the ListView from the TreeView, but I haven't found any good examples of how to populate the TreeView from the ListView.

I have an application that has a treeview in the MDI parent form, there is a button1 that adds a child node to the treeview and a mdichild form for that specific treeview child node. i would like to know if it is possible to save the trevview and the MDi child forms to a single txt file or csv file no matter how many mdi children and treeview child nodes are poduced.

I'm a Quite new to Visual Basic 2008. I have to build a database application for one of my assignments and one of the problems I'm having is to build a form that will be used to search a customer from a Customers table. The database is from access2007.
I have to have 4 radio buttons on the form which will be the options to search the customer by, so I can search by Customer ID, Customer Name, City and postcode. When I select one of those options I need to enter the phrase I'm looking for within a text box I have called TextBoxSearch then press a command button to perform that search but I'm not sure how to do this.
The customer ID is the 1st row, Customer name is the 3rd row, City is the 4th row and the postcode is the 5th row. How do i tell the program to go to that row and grab the detials based on the text entered from the text box? and display only those detials on the datagrid view?

I have a past experience with visual Foxpro and SQL. Now, I need to build a database with multiple data files (say 100 files), each data file with millions of records, each record with dozens of fields.Then, each data file is linked with other files by using different fields. Primary data is in English. Then there would be a translation of the English data is in another language. Primary data in English is stored in separate files whereas the translated data is stored in separate data files.

I am creating a Library Cataloging program for a local charity using Visual Basic.I have built the basic data table into the VB Project and I would like to populate it with the existing data that I have in the excel sheet containing the current catalogue. I have been looking for a some working code for the last couple of days to set up a treeview in my WPF app to display some database data. I use VB as i am much more confident in it - which drastically limited the code examples out there. More examples i found used manually entered data to populate each node versus a database which was little help. I finally found some code which bound the each node to a query and related the query via a DataRelation. Great this should work perfect!
The example used the Northwind database so I changed it to my database and plugged in the queries. To my shock the treeview populated fine except.... all the data is invisible.

and here what i end up with the data seems to be there but you can't see it.PS there may be some confusion as to the objects. I went back tried to keep as close to the original code as possible when i discovered the problem only replacing the queries with my own - the original code used "Categories" and "Products" where as I "use Distributors" and "Titles"

What is the best to load a treeview from a database where it goes 4 deep

How would that look in a database? and then how would you load the tree. I can load everything up to the grandchild, but as soon as I load the great grandchild I start having issues. So I am thinking it is the way they are in the database.

how to populate a treeview from a SQL datbase. I have been looking on the web but I have not found a lot and wwhat I did find show some things that, like child nodes that I cannot find. Basically I am pulling orders from the Northwind database and want to have a branch with an order and off this branch the with the ID of the order details. So when the they click on the order node it expands to show the orderdetail ID.
I get the a branch, weiht the code below, with the order IDs but cannot get the child branch.
