I am trying to dynamically build a TreeView. I want to be able to expand a top level node & have any child nodes be added on the fly. The problem I'm running into is that I can't get the "+" symbol to appear if there are no subnodes to begin with. I could probably add a "dummy" subnode, then when the parent node is expanded I could delete the dummy node & add my real nodes, but that sounds cheesy.

1. collapse and expand treeview when i click plus sign (+) on treeview, treeview didn't expand subfolder but when i click image, treeview expand it.
2. showing path that i check on treeview when i check the treeview then i'm click the button, then return path that i check

Im currently trying to build a treeview from data like:

(So splitting at the .)However, im havign trouble getting the tree to work properly..Ive tried like creating a root node, then splitting each line of the input at the dot, but i just cant get it to work right.
I have the following code which checks for the value of the 'cc_supplier_status' column for each of the rows in my table. If the state is 0, I need a child node to be added to a node named 'Inactive Suppliers' in my tree view (tvw_Supplier) with it's text being the value of the 'cc_ supplier_ name' value for the same row.If the state is 1, a child node is to be added to a node named 'Active Suppliers'.If the state is 2, a child node is to be added to a node named 'Pending Suppliers'.The code I have now just filters out the status value for each row, and performs a select case on it. Because my listview is populated dynamically when i click on treeview, i want the listview itemes to inherit the function of the treeview. For example, instead of cliking the treenode in the tree view to open a form i will click the list view item and the form opens.

I am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.
After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?
I just created a simple application. I Builded that using build->build myapp. I got .exe of that application. i runned. all went fine. but when i closed that app, even after closing it is in memory. it is still running. how to deploy it properly?

I have a Form with a Media Player in it. Which plays a Song.

It's playing in the background since the Form is hidden. When I play itin Debug, everything works fine. When I run the app outside Debug, I get this error: [URL] The Music File is there, but strangely, there comes this weird error.
A particular VB.NET project is actually throwing 'Build Failed' But when I try rebuilding again it says 'Rebuild Succeeded'. It keeps alternating this behavior. Kind of random. Any vbc.exe issue of long locking the PDB or xml files?

Can you tell me how to test these events? My postbuild event, I believe calls a project file in the solution file that wraps files together in a bundle in debug mode. View 2 RepliesI have some very simple questions about making a release build exe in vb.net using MS VB 2010 Express.
I realize that my project's executable is built in the bin/debug folder. However, when I copy this to any other location on my computer or someone else's, this executable does not function. I have read that I need to create a release build but in MS VB 2010 Express, when I use the Project-Properties menu and change the Compile tab configuration to Release and the path to binRelease, I still get the exe in the binDebug folder and not the binRelease folder.
1) Is it normal that exe's from the debug folder do not function outside of the debug folder?
2) Most importantly, if the release build produces a faster exe, could someone please explain step by step how to do this with MS VB 2010 Express ? I do not see any button on the compile tab in the project properties that actually builds the release.

Suppose in a solution there are two projects A and B. A is a class library project, B is a console project. I set the output path of project A as ..in elease, after I compiled it, I found it is ture that a created file testA.dll is there. Just curiously I checked the folder ..indebug, it is empty. Likewise, I set the output path of project B as ..in
elease. Okay, then I add the file testA.dll to the project B and run the solution etc..
My question is that after these procedures, I found that testA.dll is also in the ..indebug of project A. And also when I checked the folder ..indebug of B, testA.dll is there as well but nothing in the ..in elease of B. I just want to know the secrets of the build path, I am always confused in the real world because there are several projects in a solution.

View 1 RepliesWhen the Visual Basic compiler (Vbc.exe) crashes, Visual Studio fails to detect this and becomes stuck in an inoperable state. The "Build" menu appears as it would if the solution were building, but the Cancel Build (Ctrl+Break) menu item has no effect. Trying to close the application or the solution gives the error:
"The build must be stopped before the solution can be closed."
I can't find any way to remedy this short of terminating the devenv.exe process and restarting Visual Studio completely. Is there anything quicker and less severe?
In my program I have a combo box that the user selects a date from and a list view that the user selects an employee ID from. How do I properly design my database query string to use both the date selected and the employee ID selected? The date is stored in a variable called YearMonth and the employee ID is stored in a variable called EmpID.

Trying to build a small array to fill a combobox, when I type my code I have no errors in the error list, but when i go to compile/run/debug I get:

I am getting two errors
1) Cannot publish because a project failed to build.
2) An error occurred while signing: SignTool.exe not found.
Regarding #1, I can manually build and rebuild the application without error. I only get this error when I try to Publish.
Regarding #2, I looked in my SDKv3.5Bin directory and indeed the signtool was not there. In fact I only had 3 files (genasm.exe, genasm.exe.config, and hidpi.res). I copied the signtool.exe from the Visual Studio 2005, (file dated 10/26/2006), but I still get the same error saying it can not find the file.
