Just wondering if anyone has any tips on calling some sort of visual studio app (untimately a form) from within excel. so something along the lines of having a button in excel which calls this dll/ocx and opens a form for data populating.

I've made a basic loginform in VS 2005 for anyone to use (Continued from the VS 2003 version), here's the zip file containing the form, feel free to use & modify it freely ... you dont even need to tell me about it How it works:Make an instance of it then you can set the properties UserId, Password, UserIdMaxLength and PasswordMaxLength then just call the the ShowDialog method.I've provided some other ShowDialog signatures that allows those properties to be set with only 1 ShowDialog call..When the Login button is clicked on the window you can retrieve the UserID and Password from their respective properties..This works with the DialogResult object as well so you can easily check to see if the cancel button was clicked or not.[code]

View 1 RepliesI need to read data from an Excel workbook in my VB2005 application. I've add a reference to the Microsoft Excel 11.0 object (as I'm using Excel 2003). However, I got the following error when I build the project:
"Warning 1: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'Excel' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. (follow by the path of the project)"

I need to return data to users in excel via hitting this API which calls a sproc on the DB.The problem i am having is in returning the data from the c# method, i'd like to return a datatable object, but maybe this isnt possible. In a cell of a Worksheet, I want to "Call" or make active my vb.net App via a key combination (Alt->V) and have the workbook/worksheet pass the Row number / Column to the vb.net app that will get the data and post back to this Cell. View 3 RepliesI'm looking to call an excel macro (excel version 07) within a separate visual studio application (visual studio express 2010). Basically, a user clicks a browse dialog button to select a xls or xlsm file which is then added to a listbox. Next, I would like the macro to run when another button is clicked. The macro looks at the first column in excel and moves the listed .tif images from one folder to another. I referenced the excel libraries, but seem to be getting hung up on a few code statements (''''ERROR see code below). I would like to run the macro within visual studio for any selected excel file or add the macro somehow to the selected excel file and run it.

I can put similar code into the toolbar button just changing the Button5_Click to the name of the toolbar button but I thought it would be better if I 'called' the already written code.
I changed the Private Sub Button5_Click etc. to Public Sub Button5_Click then in the Toolbar button click event I put 'call Sub Button5_Click()'
I get errors stating that ' argument not specified for parameter 'e' ' and can't progress.
I will be using this code in a few other forms so would like to 'call' possible.
