Dim TelTBMenu As New ContextMenuStrip
With TelTBMenu
.Name = "TelTBMenu"
[Code]....
Whilst the form is loaded this runs fine twice, but then although the Setting boolean is reset the ToolStripItem text remains unchanged unless the form is re-loaded.
I have VB.NET code that is called when the selected tab index of a tab control changes, I am trying to get the code to change the text in a text box to the URL of the web browser control that when the tab changes. I have the code below, however it gives errors:
am writing a program in vb.net 2008 ... I want the user to be able to change the font on a different form, however any code that I try and write comes up with the error code property is read only.. I hope I have given sufficient detail... oh one more thing I am trying to use fontdialog from the tool box.
Is there a way to change label text at run time?. I don't want to annoy users with popup. So planning to display error in a label if its text could be changed.
So far I have included a Main Form which has a label lblErrorFeedback which is not visible initially and I have done this but does not work.
I've got a button_click function that calls a Powershell script and outputs the results into a text box. This sometimes take a few seconds, so I wanted to first change the .text of the textbox (called Results) to "Please wait... searching remote PC" so the user knows the program is actually doing something.
Results.Text = "Please wait... searching remote PC" Results.Text = RunScript(LoadScript(fullPCinfoScript)) However, the text will not change. It basically waits to change the text of the text box
I'm searching for a way to change the font size of selected text in a RichTextBox (rtf) having different font families (e.g. Arial and MS SansSerif) and font styles (underline, bold...) using the FontDialog, but without changing the families and styles. The following code resets all the font attributes, which is not what I want:
My client wanted to have a textbox in the Customer form of the application, which offers the applicable endings to a started street name. He starts to type a street name and the textbox offers a list of streets which start with the char sequence he typed into the textbox. Textboxes have the AutoCompleteCustomSource property and even though a list of common street names will be longer than it could be pre-filled on start, I could just hit a database with a query, populate an AutoCompleteStringCollection and show that to the user.
Now here's the thing: If I make the list populate on every keypress/keydown whatever, the program crashes and throws an AccessViolationException. I've found out that that's because: The control is in the middle of showing the AutoComplete list when at the same time it is being modified, resulting in the crash. When you refresh the Autocomplete List, the control is recreated with new pointers. Keyboard and mouse events (KeyPress, MouseOver, MouseLeave, MouseHover) attempt to reference the old control's pointers which are now invalid in memory causing a memory access violation to occur.
The underlying AutoComplete implementation does not allow for changing the AutoComplete candidate list object once it has been set on a window. To allow changing the list, WinForms destroys the Edit control or ComboBox and recreates it. This causes an exception if the underlying control is destroyed while the AutoComplete window is still use it. I read about this on MSDN, their resolution: Do not modify the AutoComplete candidate list dynamically during key events. I know that you can do this by creating a custom control and such, but can it be done with just pure coding wizardry?
we're working on a billing systemCurrently I am working on the categories module. Here's the thing:I need a dynamically changing UI. So the user can add categories, delete them and teh UI would accordingly add or remove controls automatically.I used DataGridView, but since the fetching and storing of data will not be done in a database, I need to fetch it and update it using an HTTP API, the data bindings are causing problems as I need to update, Insert or delete data using functions instead of letting VB do the hard work. I tried creating a datatable and checking for changes everytime user added/deleted/changed a row, but again the problem is: in a datatable I am not able select what type of control represents the column. For Example I have a parent category column where the control needs to be a combo box. The datatable's columns don't seem to provide an option and are automatically set to text box.I am thinking there is a really cool way of doing this that I am unaware of. all the VB.NET books I have read only seem to use DataGridView in conjunction with some sort of a database and not independantly.
How to set up a Chart using the new MS Chart control. I want to be able to populate the data via SQL because the user will be able to dynamically change the values via drop downs. The format of the data will be the same (Qty, Time Period) but the Focus of that data will change. I'm honestly not sure where to start, I can draw the chart but I have no idea how to populate it with data via code so it can be changed dynamically. VBE 2010, and I'm hitting an AccessDB
I made a class that overrides the onpaint procedure of a menustrip.I then made a class that overrides procedures of the ToolStripRenderer.This allowed me to get the look of the menu strip and context menu that I wanted.However highlighting doesn't take place. How can I make it so when I move my mouse over a ToolStripItem i can render my own highlighting colors.I need to beable to get the item that is currently being hovered over. Then I need to take that item and fill a rectangle. My issue is getting the item that is being hovered over.Here is my code. I used MSDN examples to help.
Public Class cMenuBar Public Sub New() InitializeComponent()[code]....
I have made a program wherein you the labels are dynamically created with a press of a button. if you press on the label, the label would then change color from white to blue. my problem is that how will you make the backcolor of the label change when the button3 is pressed.
here are the codes. placed the whole thing since I dunno if you guys would understand what I mean.
[code]...
PS here is the link to what my program looks like. link to my program . the button3 in the image is Reserve Seat.
I can change the color of the return value based on conditional statements but cannot figure out the correct syntax to change the table cell back ground. My attempt is commented out.
How do I correctly declare the table cell? Findcontrol must not be the correct way.
I have a DataGridViewImageColumn that should display an image for only certain rows. After I bind a generic list of classes to my datagrid, I loop through each row and update the image cell with an image that is an embedded resource for the rows that require the image. This works great if the form has been fully loaded. However, when I attempt this on form load the image doesn't show up? I also can't perform simpler things such as changing the row background color on form load. Should I be performing this logic in a different event after form load?
For i As Integer = 0 To dgvRoles.Rows.Count - 1 Dim imageStream As System.IO.Stream = Nothing imageStream = Me.GetType().Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream("MyApplication.Timer.png")
just wondering if it is possible to add a method to all forms in my project without having to do it on one form and Inherit all my other forms from that one
I am converting a VB.Net application to C#. Everything else is going great. Except this bit. I have a function which builds menus,sub menus and seperators from a database. It can build a MenuStrip or a ContextMenuStrip which can then be assigned to a form.
This means that menus can be extensive and conpmex but managed outside the application, which I also use as part of my security access model. All menus are controlled from the database externally, it also means I can develop visual tools (Treeviews etc) to manage user menus. The application uses menus extensively which is by design.
Programmatically I want to assign an eventhandler to every item that isnt a dropdown or a seperator
In VB I would do this, (works perfectly)
[Code]...
"System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem' does not contain a definition for 'DropDownItems' and no extension method 'DropDownItems' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"
I want the width of the item to be (lets say) 300 ... how do I do this? when I set the autosize property to false (so it doesn't size to the text) and then set the width to 300 it goes past the edge of the menu! This is what i mean ... in the designer as this shows you the width.. but the runtime version is the same:
I'm creating a custom control which inherets the BindingNavigator.I need do add one ToolStripButton at specific posistion (9 element) on the ToolStrip of the BindingNavigator.So, I wrote the following code:
I am trying to get a line to expand whilst the user hovers over a specific Label or Button, I thought the best way to do this would be using a however so far I cannot get the process to loop until the user stops hovering over the item.
Public Class Form1 Dim Sec As Integer Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick Sec = Sec + 1
[code]....
That is pretty much what I have so far, it works however I have to keep hovering and then exiting the Label for the size to increase. I have tried various loops however most of them just end up in an infinite loop.Just to clarify, I would like the X2 dimension of the Line to increase until the user stops hovering over the form.
my application adds fields to a table dynamically, is it possible to 'rebuild' a datatable or even change its SQL so that my grid picks up the new fields?
how I could go about Changing the border of my Forms and the title bar of the forms. I would like to change it globally so that it would take effect on all my forms.
I'm quite new at this but I'm trying to change the look of a tab control other than the options provided in the control's properties. In short I want to create a large tab that will fit a picture but I don't know how to change the size of the tab. I also want to make the control look somewhat different than what the control provided with VS.NET looks like.
What I need to know is how to create a custom control that operates the same as tabcontrol but looks different than the traditional control provided with VS. I tried looking up how to create a custom control but all I could find was how to create one programatically and I don't know how it would apply to a tab control. Maybe the only way to do it is programmatically but I would rather play with the control in the designer than having it appear only at runtime.
In form frmAddPlayers I declare and create an array of pictureboxes in the Load event using the code:
Dim pbxPlayerJoined(7) As PictureBox
[code]....
In the watch window the value of the pictureboxes is System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox. Later in the load event I start a background worker in form sfrmUSBDevice using the code:
sfrmUSBDevice.sReadWriteThread.RunWorkerAsync()
The background worker waits for user input and then calls a subroutine from form frmAddPlayers. The subroutine changes the image in the picturebox to indicate that the user input has taken place. However when the debugger returns from sfrmUSBDevice to frmAddPlayers the watch window shows that all of the pictureboxes have a value of nothing. Then when I try to change the image of the picturebox I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" exception. It seems like when the debugger goes to the sfrmUSBDevice form and comes back to frmAddPlayers the objects on frmAddPlayers have lost their information.
I'm making a LAN instant messenger and I'm trying to achieve something similar to how MSN will open a new chatting window when you double click on a friend. My main form has a list of friends, and I want to create a new chat window when they double click on one of those friends. I've created a "template" chat form which I want to generate dynamically, and I've run into some problems I need help with.[code]The form will only appear once as far as I can tell, and the chat form has events such as button clicks; an error occurs when I try to change something like the text property of a label for example (eg. clicking a button on the chat form changes the text of a label on the chat form will cause an error to occur). The error I actually get is:[code]Now, call me a newb if you will, but I really don't know much about threading and all that hocus pocus.
I'm trying to add a DataGridView to a Split Container Panel. I am able to add the control, but it just places it on top of the old one. What I want is to add it below the existing one. How to do it.
I'm currently making an application that involves time tables / scheduling. I'm required to generate a timetable for school teaching activities. in this application, I want to display the time slots using labels and I want to enable users to drag them around to place the subject cards in the available slots. I'm even confused with the control to use for the time slots. Right now I'm thinking of using datagridview for the time slot. So I'm trying to drag the labels around and placing them in the datagridview cells.
