May 12, 2009my application adds fields to a table dynamically, is it possible to 'rebuild' a datatable or even change its SQL so that my grid picks up the new fields?

Removing Or Rebuilding Dynamically Declared Type
Dec 8, 2009I am dynamically declaring types (using ModuleBuilder.DefineType() which are used to allow for strongly typed data sets from a CSV file. However when the user adds or alters a column definition I'd like to remove and rebuild the data type. How I drop and recreate a type - do I have to unload the whole assembly or how is it done?

Apr 10, 2010I have a server program. It logs all of the lines on the console textbox in their proper folder, named by their type: Logs\Year\Month\Day\Errors.txt There are about 7 types that it logs. All of these show up in the console window. However, I have check boxes that I want to toggle the types that show up in the console window on and off. For example if I want to hide the Error and System types, I want the rest of the types to show. I know I can do this simply, but if I re-check the boxes to show the System types as well with the others, I want it to show the logs in their proper place in the console window, and that I cannot figure out how to do.I am stuck on this problem and cannot figure it out. I know it involves much more than an If statement to display the types correctly in the right place on the console. Please help me out with some idea of what I need to do.

Jun 10, 2010I am trying to get a line to expand whilst the user hovers over a specific Label or Button, I thought the best way to do this would be using a however so far I cannot get the process to loop until the user stops hovering over the item.

That is pretty much what I have so far, it works however I have to keep hovering and then exiting the Label for the size to increase. I have tried various loops however most of them just end up in an infinite loop.Just to clarify, I would like the X2 dimension of the Line to increase until the user stops hovering over the form.

Jan 20, 2011I'm making a LAN instant messenger and I'm trying to achieve something similar to how MSN will open a new chatting window when you double click on a friend. My main form has a list of friends, and I want to create a new chat window when they double click on one of those friends. I've created a "template" chat form which I want to generate dynamically, and I've run into some problems I need help with.[code]The form will only appear once as far as I can tell, and the chat form has events such as button clicks; an error occurs when I try to change something like the text property of a label for example (eg. clicking a button on the chat form changes the text of a label on the chat form will cause an error to occur). I'm required to generate a timetable for school teaching activities. in this application, I want to display the time slots using labels and I want to enable users to drag them around to place the subject cards in the available slots. I'm even confused with the control to use for the time slots. Right now I'm thinking of using datagridview for the time slot. So I'm trying to drag the labels around and placing them in the datagridview cells.

Apr 9, 2010Is there a way to change label text at run time?. I don't want to annoy users with popup. So planning to display error in a label if its text could be changed.
So far I have included a Main Form which has a label lblErrorFeedback which is not visible initially and I have done this but does not work.

Sep 26, 2010I have a form containing two panels. In both panels there are two labels and textboxes. I set the 'Center In Form' property of the labels and textboxes to 'Horizontally' and 'Vertically' in design time respectively. But as the form is resizable, when the size of the form is increased or decreased at runtime the controls are no longer center aligned in the panels. How can I handle this problem (provided the main form needs to remain sizable)?

Apr 30, 2010I need to be able to add buttons to a tool strip at run time. As of now I've been able to get the buttons to display with a nice little picture just how he wants and some text under it. Just can't figure out how to "enable" the click event for these buttons. Obviously I need them to do something rather than just sit there looking good and this is where I'm stuck. Right now I'd be happy for a message box to come up saying yep I'm working as I could then work with that. Forms :: How To Call Unkown Function In Another Class Dynamically
Jan 20, 2012I've created a dialog which I'd like to popup from any function or sub in any class or form that I have in a project. It would nice to have it work exactly like a messagebox except it's got a progressbar and a cancel button on it. It's job is to display the progress of other functions so it should just stay open until I close it or the user selects cancel.Now I've found many of the basic examples on the net and have got the dialog working exactly as they have shown it. The trouble is that the examples are using a counter or thread.sleep which simply adds +1 in the DoWork sub. In other words, it validates that a worker thread can update a progressbar but it's a closed loop that only exists in the dialog's class.The examples don't show how to call an unkown function in another class dynamically, they're simply a hard coded 1+1 in DoWork. To me it's not a real world example because it doesn't show how to plug into the dialog or get a communication stream from other classes and functions that are running and wanting to increment the progressbar.[code]

I have successfully managed to add a handler for doubleclick and click events the problem i have is that when i add both together it only seems to work with the click event and not the double click. where I could bee going wrong? Forms :: Fill Datatable In The Background?
Aug 16, 2011I would like the main form I am designing in VB.net to appear as quickly as possible. As a result I don't want to fill a datatable in the load event but instead fill it as soon as the form appears, in the background.Then when a user clicks the button a listbox can quickly be populated.
With this in mind I called a function to fill the datable from the _Shown event. The trouble is that the form freezes until the query executes, making the process pointless for my needs.
Does anyone know how to keep the form active while the datatable fills silently in the background?

Jan 21, 2009All I want to do is build some kind of table-like or grid-like control in my form that has two columns. An element in the first column should be a checkbox that is changable by the user, and an element in the second column is some un-editable text. Of course, when the user checks or unchecks a checkbox, I have to be able to handle that event and figure out which row it came from.I've been trying this all day with no luck. Do I use a ListView or a DataGridView? If the answer is DataGridView, do I add columns and rows to it directly or do I try to make a DataTable which I then assign to the DataGridView's "DataSource" property?Is is possible to make editable checkboxes in a DataTable? I succeeded in making checkboxes by making a DataColumn of type boolean, but then I couldn't check or uncheck them during runtime.
