I am calling a login form from the base form. From the base form I disable it after i show the login form. Then from the login form I want to re-enable the base form that is disabled... View 15 RepliesI have a program that uses two forms. The program opens to the Main form, and the user can navigate to the other form from the Main form through use of a button. Here's the way I've currently written it: When the Main form loads, it declares and instantiates the other form during the load procedure. When the user presses a button, the second form is displayed by means of the ShowDialog method. On the second form, there is a Return to Main Screen button which closes the second form, bringing the user back to the Main form.
So, here's the structure of the code:

Here's my reasoning: Originally, I wrote the code so that a new instance of the second form was created every time the button was pressed. The problem was that whatever data was displayed on the second form, previously, was lost when the user returned to it a second time. Since the user would be switching back and forth between these forms, frequently, I needed that data to persist.
What is the best practice for accomplishing this:
1) Declare and instantiate the second form on program start, as I have done, and use the button simply to show the form?
2) Declare and instantiate the second form each time the button is pressed but maintain the variables on the Main form and pass them ByRef to a custom constructor for the second form? Is this even possible?
3) Something else?
Is there any way to make a button on a form momentary? I have an app where I need to have a jog button for a motor and for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this.

vb.net experts, I am new to vb.net but I have some programming background and some experience. What I want to do is this. As of right now I have a webpage with buttons on it and each button once clicked runs a script in DOS and a the DOS command windows appear.
I would like to make a vb.net form with buttons on it that each button when clicked executes the same program. However the kicker is I want the DOS output to be displayed within the form along with a scrolling bar to the right of the window so a person can scroll thru the outputted DOS window. I am currently working on a program that has several buttons in it lined up. Each button goes to different applications (.exe programs). The program I am making is suppose to be a fullscreen program and won't let you see any of Windows when it's running.
Therefore I want to make a "back" button that always stays on top of any application and when I push it it will take me back to my WindowsForm (startpage of the program).I am also wondering if you can make it so all .exe programs only can run ONCE. So if I press one of the buttons saying "open notepad" I want it to work so it can't open Notepad once again making it two notepads open. Just go back to the first Notepad opened.
My form has four panels, each contains radio buttons. At design time, all buttons have checked = false, which is what I want when form loads.When the form loads a radio button in one panel has checked = true
For the other three panels, all radio buttons have checked = false.I have tested this with no code in the Form_load subrroutine.How is checked = true being set for that that one radio button ?

We have an application that is installed and runs just fine on Vista. Our users are requiring a change to our application in order to change the system time on their PC. The code to change the time is as follows:

When this code executes, it bombs because of UAC. How can we modify our program to display the message similar to when they try to change the system time via the Control Panel. That is, it warns them that something is about to happen that requires their permission.

Anyway, how do I do this: The credit card number TextBox control is dynamically enabled/disabled depending on the choice of payment type? And did I do the newOrderButton correctly (see code below)? View 4 RepliesI attached a picture of how my project should look and what the labels are. There are a total of 12 books and 4 different age groups. In each age group there are 3 books. There is also a previous and next books button which will show the next book in that age group. I want to make it so that previous button is disabled when it is on the first book of each age group and so that the next book button is disabled when it is at the last book. The only issue that I am having is that after the button is disabled it is not enabled again after. Here is my full code for this part as of now. As you can see I made it so that everytime I click on a new age group the previous button is disabled initially.
I took some unnecessary code out of here because I don't want anyone from my class finding this and coping all of my work.

Enabling Flash in the visual basic web browser control?
View 12 RepliesI am creating a dedicated browser to be used exclusively on a single program located on my hard drive. Security is not a concern as the webbrowser URL will be set to the program's default web page path with no navigation options for going online. The program utilizes dynamic web pages with powerful search capabilities that require ActiveX controls. When I run my browser application, I get a series of security warning boxes stating:

Clicking "Yes" allows me to continue and the program features work, but the recurrent warning message boxes are annoying. The default "script errors suppressed" property of the webbrowser control is "false." If I change it to "true" I don't get the security warning boxes but some of the search features on the web pages with ActiveX controls don't work properly.
Is there a way to programmatically enable ActiveX controls in the webbrowser control so that I can set the "script errors suppressed" property to "true" (hence no security warning message boxes) and still allow the ActiveX features to work properly? Or, set the "script errors suppressed" property to "false" and have my program automatically activate the "Yes" button each time a security warning message box is called by Internet Explorer? The goal is to get the ActiveX controls to work in webbrowser without having to click through the warnings.
when I got home to try out the method in the above post in my real application things did not work out.The big difference is that my main form is a MDI. When I open my edit form, it's mdiparent is set to the main form. When I click 'edit' and then disable "me" the entire application goes modal.I was expecting only the MDI child to go disabled, not the whole application..Basically, I want only the MDI child window that opens it's "edit" dialog to go disabled..
