ATM I'm trying to color individual items on my combobox. While reading stuff I googled, it seems that the only way to do this is through the DrawItem event.My question is, will the draw item be 'called' when i assign text to the combo box? combobox.text = "string"

I'm using a TabControl and have overridden the DrawItem event to produce my own background and foreground colors for the header text. It looks good but there's still grey color around each header. I thought maybe the Padding property could be set to (0,0) but that seemed to have no effect.
View 2 RepliesSo I have a custom listbox that is displaying garbage text when scrolling horizontally. I need the custom listbox to stop an annoying flicker, but it's causing issues with the scroll. I think I could solve the issue if only I could access the hscroll event, but I don't know how to do that. I will put down my custom listbox class just in case you will need it to understand the problem.
Edit: I realized my question is a little vague - telling me how to access the hscroll event within the listbox will suffice

I've been having a problem setting certain items in a listbox as checked when the form is loaded. I have tried putting the code in the form_activate, form_load, and form_shown events and each still crashes when it encounters:

sub I use on all forms in my app I would like to put in one central place (of course right). in vb.net I put this sub in a module it has a "Handles tabcontrol1.Drawitem" - I get an error saying handle requires with events variable defined in containing type or one of its base types.also when I refer to tabcontrol1 in a module it wants to know which form.. Can I use sender to define current calling form?

The scrollbar that comes with the ListBox is too small for touch screens, so I use my own scrollbar instead. But when you do this on various forms you end up repeating a lot of code. So my solution was to create a custom scollbar that has a property I can set to the control I want it to be a scrollbar for. In vb6, I can use the withevents keyword to get access to the control's events so that all the scrollbar related code can be in the custom scrollbar object I created, except...I had to create a refresh method for the consuming code to use to let the scrollbar know when the number of items changes. The scrollbar doesn't need to be told how many items there are because it has access to the control, but for a listbox there is no event to tie into when an item is added/removed so not 100% of the scrollbar related code could be encapsulated.

In the Leave event of T1, the validation of text is done. If the data is invalid, a suitable Messagebox is displayed and Focus is set back to that Maskedtextbox (T1.Focus()).Now, if I enter any invalid data and click on the Listbox in Form1, the following things happen:
1]T1 Leave event is entered, focus being on the Listbox
2]Invalid data message box is displayed
3]Focus is set to T1(T1.Focus()) of Form2
4]After End of event, T1 Leave event is again entered. And now, Focus has changed back again to the Listbox.
5]Again Messagebox is displayed and T1.Focus() is done
The issue is, after step 3(focus set to T1), the focus is reset to the Listbox in Form1. Hence Leave event is entered twice and messagebox is displayed twice.

I'm using a textbox to supply a filter for the datasouce which is bound to a listbox. It works (mostly) with a few exceptions, one being i was to restrict the height of the listbox to the number of entries (upto a maximum number), so a bit like a combobox (which in effect is what I'm writing). One of the problems is when the number of entries changes there does not seem to be an event raised, although the OnDrawItem is called for the items to be displayed (the displayed ones!) Is there anyway to find out (in a derived listbox) when the number of entries has changed in the datasource?
View 4 RepliesI am passing some values from a Gridview Update Click event to a popup ASP.net page that dynamically builds a series of textboxes in a Placeholder based on the number of sentences that are found in a specific cell of the Grid Row selected.The boxes that are built represent each sentence found in the cell of the selected row. When I launch my app. I see the listbox and what appears to be where the buttons are but no text is being displayed. Maybe I am missing the point of the listbox. Can I have buttons in the listbox and have the text display for the bottons?

I am developing a program that populates a rich text box and from a click event on a listbox. The data that is being loaded into the rich text box is located in a richtextformat file located on the hard drive. I noticed that when I entered a URL into one of the richtextformat files that it appeared that I was able to click on the text as if it were a link. So I wondered if it was possiable to click on that URL and open a web browser from the loaded richtextformat file? I have read several articles in regards to opening hyperlinks in rich text boxes which can open a web browser with a given URL.

basic question which i cant figure out is i have a listbox and i total up all the values in it and send it to a text box. but in the listbox i cant have more than 10 items in it i at the moment have a message box telling me how many items i have in the listbox which is simply MsgBox(ListBox2.Items.Count()) when the 10th item is entered i need it to not allow me to enter anymore so i know it needs to go 0-9 but not sure how to implement it.
