Forms :: Power Mode Change Not Getting Triggered

I have an application that detects a power change (to standby or hibernate).
AddHandler SystemEvents.PowerModeChanged, AddressOf PowerChangeSub
When I hit the standby key on my keyboard, the power change is detected and all actions are done properly. However, when I enter the standby mode by using: Application.SetSuspendState(PowerState.Suspend, True, False)
The computer goes to stand by but the event of powermodechanged is NOT triggered.

I have created the following piece of code to try and see if the user pushes the 'f1' key, and if they do.

I am not sure if this code works yet because the keypressed event is not triggered when I push a key. Could someone tell me how I can change my code so that it will test what key is pressed, no matter what control on the form has focus?

I am having a problem where I am on a text box and try to click a button that will bring up some reports. Since my cursor is still on the text box it doesn't go through the "Leave" and so what I entered into the text box is not saved (this happens in "Leave"). I have read previously not to use "Lost Focus" because it causes problems when you leave the form it triggers the "Lost Focus" on on the fields and just in general to use "Leave" rather than "Lost Focus". Is there a way to force my way through the "Leave"? I also don't know which field my cursor could be on (there are probably 20 text box or combo box fields on this form.

I am migrating my code from vb.net 1.1 framework to vb.net 3.5In my windows application, the base window has some buttons and events are written for the same.I have shortcuts defined for these buttons also, for example: ctrl+d, DEL (keyboard) etc.Now i open a property Grid form on top of my base window for a selected object.Even when the focus is on this property grid, i am noticing that my base window events are firing on pressing those shortcuts.
example:I select some text in my property grid and hit delete button from keyboard. The delete event that i have written for the selected object gets fired and the text is not deleting.I fail to understand why is it happening. It wasnt behaving like this in .net 1.1.In .net 1.1 it would delete the text and only when the focus is back on the base window, hitting Delete would call the event.How do i control such a behavior? Is there some property that i need to set for property grid in .net 3.5 to prevent base window events from firing till the time focus is on property grid form?

When in "Add" mode, I have all controls on the form enabled with the exception of a listview that is disabled until the record is saved. The listview needs the primary key from the saved record in order for items to be added to the listview.
When in "Edit" mode, the form is populated when a record is selected on a search form. Specific controls are disabled. When a value in a control is changed, I have a RecordModified property that is set to True and then the Save button is enabled. I also have combo boxes that need to be populated but the selected value needs to correspond to the value pulled from the database

i made a form as big as my screen and remove the button on the title bar to ensure that the form will not be tamper with, but i still can make it small using mouse arrow drag, going to last border of the form.

I'm having trouble with setting a datagridview's cell in edit mode, or rather, to let the user type some input on load of a form (as in Excel or the like).
This is my code (after the dgv has been filled):
dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditProgrammatically
'(or dgvTentander.EditMode = DataGridViewEditMode.EditOnEnter)
dgvMyDGV.CurrentCell = dgvMYDGV.Rows(lastrow).Cells(TeCOL_Quant)

The code correctly indicates that the cell is selected, and when the page is loaded I can still se the cell selected, but the cursor doesn't appear and nothing happens when I type.

I am using in built sql server 2005 which comes with visual studio 2008 in my project.This is my connection string.SQLConnection oConnection = new SQLConnection("Data Source=.SQLExpress Initial Catalog=Fas");
When I try to open the connection like oConnection.open() I am getting error like "Login failed for this user. User is not associated with trusted connection."By some googling I get the idea that I am using Windows authentication mode. So how can I change it to mix mode authentication? I dont have separate sqlserver installed on my system. It is same that comes with visual studio 2008

I have an outlook application, whenever the user receive a new mail I show him a form and some controls
The user needs to insert information and close the form. Sometimes the user is not near his machine so whenever there is a new mail I am adding new controls and modify the child size.
It has been successful using the Form.show() method but not in showdialog() i cant add controls and change the form size can someone please help on the subject?

It's just a small calculator project so it's no big deal, but after I had built the project, I wanted to change the project name and all the file names that had that string in it (and all internal references to that string). I had played with this before and knew that it was asking for trouble but I thought, "What the hell, I'll try it again." feeling a bit brash.
Well, everything works fine in debug mode, but there is this DOS window that pops up just before the main form does, and it doesn't go away for the entire debugging session. I think I see that window pop up on all other projects too (if the main form doesn't cover it up completely), but normally, it's only there for a split second.

i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.

I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.

I'm working on a simple base form in which all the other forms in the project will inherit. This base form only adds 5 properties (at the moment) dealing with painting a gradient background. The problem I'm facing right now is when I change a property on Form1 (the test form) and click run it doesn't show that change. I also checked the .designer.vb file and when I make a change it's not added to the code behind file, I'm at a loss right now to why.

I am using VS 2008 and UltraGrid from Infragistics v 5.2
I have two UltraGrid objects on a Winform. While the AfterRowUpdate event gets triggered for one, it does not get triggered for the other. Here's the procedure of the offending UltraGrid event:

I'm having a really annoying issue which I can't get to the bottom of. I've got a NumberUpDown control which has a ValueChanged event. There is only one reference to it in my entire project which I have commented out to prove that it isn't calling the event. Even though the number is not being changed (the control sometimes isn't even in focus!) the ValueChanged event gets called. This is driving me crazy and I wondered if I could back track through the code to see what actually caused this event to trigger?
