The use of shift + scroll wheel is fairly common for horizontal scrolling.
Both of those are fairly easy to capture. I can use the MouseWheel event with a flag set by the KeyDown, KeyUp events to keep track of when the shift key is pressed.
However, how do I actually trigger the horizontal scrolling? I am aware of WM_MOUSEHWHEEL, can that be used to trigger the event?
Update: For a System.Windows.Form there is a HorizontalScroll property that is of type HScrollProperties. You can manipulate the Value attribute on that object to change the horizontal scrollbar's position. However, so far I haven't spotted any other controls on which that object is available.

I'm designing a form with a horizontal scroll bar docked at the bottom. I wanted to add support for side-scrolling using mouse tilt buttons and found this solution which, after a bit of tinkering, seemed to do the trick - that is, while the form only had GDI graphics drawn on its surface.
However, since then I've added some controls to the form and found that when the mouse is over any of them the tilt operation only fires once-at-a-time instead of repeatedly as it does when the mouse is over any other part of the form.To see what I mean (if you have a mouse with tilt buttons) dock a horizontal scrollbar onto the bottom of a form, add a few other controls and paste in this code:
Public Class Form1
Const WM_MOUSEHWHEEL As Integer = &H20E
Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As Message)
[code]....
You'll see that side-scrolling repeats when the mouse is over a blank part of the form, but only "one-shots" when it's over a control.I'm guessing the solution lies somewhere in the message's .Result value, but I'm at a loss as to what that should be. In fact I'm not even sure I'm returning a correct value anyway because the code in the original solution threw an exception to the DirectCast function so I swapped that for CType, which seemed to work okay. I've tried working it out using Spy++ but I can't see anything obvious.
UPDATE:I've noticed when I include 'Child' windows in Spy++ there are two (0x020E) messages and two return values, 1 then 0. I presume the message is being passed onto the control by the form. So I guess the question now is: can the message be prevented from being passed to the control? Or can the control's return value be intercepted and converted to 1?

I am new to VB.NET, Now i'm working with Events in VB.NET, I have two event methods, Mouse Click and Mouse Down for a single button in a form, I have displyed a message in each of these methods but only mouse down event is triggered. Why Mouse Click is not triggered? Similiarly I Did the same for Mouse Enter and Mouse Move for a particular button, in this case both the events are triggered.

how to get VB to detect mouse movement, clicks and keyboard presses. I am creating a screensaver program that does not intergrate with the windows screensaver.
The reason I am doing this is because I am trying to invent a screensaver that people can use their custome pictures to see with password protection for their PC when the screensaver facility has been disabled on a domain.

Well im trying to make my own basic Slider control just so i can learn abit how to interact with the mouse...
so far i have this:
vb.net:
Private Sub Rectangle_MouseMove(ByVal sender as Object, ByVal e as System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs)
[Code]....
so this works while the mouse is on the rectangle.. but if we look how the slider behaves its not the same you click and hold the mouse down and can drag it any where even outside of the window and it still updates its position..

To detect rotation of the mouse wheel in .NET/WinForms, I can override OnMouseWheel. Clicking can be detected by overriding OnMouseDown (it's just the Middle button). But how do I detect tilting of the wheel (tilt to the left/right for horizontal scrolling)? Neither OnMouseWheel, not OnMouseDown is being called when I tilt the mouse wheel.

I need to detect whenever user clicks the mouse, no matter what form is selected at the given time.
I know that detected keypresses globally can be done through a Keyboard hook so I assume that i am going to need some sort of Mouse Hook.

hello,
i'm trying to build a application for my buddy who plays online games and has asked for a simple program to click the mouse button within his game that he plays for a certain amount of time with a certain duration between. my questions comes ( and i searched but didnt find much useful information for .net framework anyway) about how to detect a combination of keystrokes to start an action and further more to send a click event to the game that should be main focus. i'd also appreciate any tutorials on sending information to other forms controls etc.
thank you for any help

How would I make my VB Program detect mouse clicks? I want the code in a timer. So if I turn the timer on, my program will detect a Mouse click and then do the rest of the Timer code. And after the timer code is done, I want it to do it again until the timer is closed. So if the timer is on, every time I click the mouse, (anywhere on screen) it will do the rest of timer code.

I have been tasked with showing a tooltip when I hover over certain TabPages within a tab control, I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this little task, but still I am left with no clear answer.
the events that I would normally use, seem only to fire if the mouse is over the actually tabpage, I am more interested in the tabpage under the mouse in the tabcontrol.

I've got a couple of instances of a user control on a flowlayoutpanel. The user control has got a couple of controls on it, and very little / almost none of the control's original space is visible. I need to know when the mouse is inside the usercontrol. What then happens is that the border color changes (of a control in the user control), and when it leaves the control, it changes back to original state.
I tried the following:
Private Sub ctrDashboardWidgetFrame_MouseEnter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseEnter
Try
ShowControls()
Catch ex As Exception
[Code] .....
And it works, but it only works when you move over the original visible space of the user control, and doesn't work when you move over the child controls inside the user control. How I'll be able to achieve this to also work while the user is inside the full user control and not just it's visible space?
