View 3 RepliesIn my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

Actually, I wanted to validate the todayMonth textbox just to input number between 1 to 12. The problem comes out when I do this procedure : Lets say I input an interger 11 and it passes the validation and proceed to another textbox. Then I click back to the todayMonth textbox, it shows this error :
"Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid."
I don't know why my value in the textbox is "null" or empty . I still saw the value 11 on the textbox.
Is there a way that a label's text is updated each time the input of a textbox changes? The textbox and the label are on the same form. I looked everywhere but didn't find a solution that worked.

Code = "Black" -> Turns screen black.
Code = "OFF" -> Turns off the PC.
And so on.
If I call that Sub from Immediate console, It works perfectly. But if that Sub is called from an event, It does nothing, and usually throws an Exception. I read somewhere that I can fix this by using Threads, but I don't understand how that can help and make it work.

ok im having trouble with my imput box it crashes when i enter text, nothin and when i press the cancel button. i do realise when i click the cancel buttin it returns a null value and vb doesnt like it but why does it crash with letters or typing nothin because i have put if it = "" then.... shouldnt that mean it will accept nothin entered? heres one of the input boxes maybe u can tell what im doin wrong and how to fix it.

Upon careful consideration of the latest syntax additions to the VB.Net language ( ie. 2010 edition) I wish to suggest a name change of the language. My reason is simple, increasingly the language is becoming nothing like the BASIC core language which the earlier versions represented.
