Basically i am making a software that will be interacting with a database (sql).Now what i wanted is a loop which after every 30 minutes, connects to the database finds some info and executes a bunch of statements.For the sake of testing i have made the timer tick at 1 second, and display a record in a database in a label continuously just to see if it works (i will later make the tick 30 min)Now this is what i have tried till now , it prints the record in database perfectly after 5 seconds, but after that just fails.[code]I want to infinitely make a loop in which after every 30 minutes has passed it would connect to the database get a record and then use the value of that record to perform some operations. And this has to be done in the background.

I also need a button to delete records, but I am completely terrible with databases so I have no idea what I need to do to add records. when i press add, i get a new empty record, when i fill it in, i see that the collection sees it, as there is an onform listbox showing the profiles, and it gets listed there, so its actually attached to the list, but the savechanges command does not insert it into the db
there may be some validation errors upon insert, but then i would get some indication, right? now its just silently failing. as if i never tied to commit changes

I have a problem with this code.It loops all records in tables SAP_CC and ORCL_CC and matches all records where amounts are equal in both tables. The problem arises when I need to update the tables.I need to update a column on tables SAP_CC and ORCL_CC, setting the records as matched and also to create new records on the CC_RECONCILED table.

Teh table only contains these 4 fields and another field which is an automatically generated number called nbrQuoteID .All of the fields are number fields but I have tried sending them as text to see if it made a difference (Threw up an error) but it didn't.

I am having a problem with adding a record to a customer table in a Microsoft Access database. I have worked for hours reading my textbook and troubleshooting to no avail. The copy and paste below from VS is a little messy. When I execute this code below the record is not added and I do not get an error of any type. When I go into debug mode, all of the parameters are correct and everything looks good. If I open up Access I can manually add the record but using my program nothing happens. All datatypes are string in VS and text in Access.
First an instance of the Customer Class is created and this seems to be successful. But when I take that customer object and run the AddCustomer method of the customer class it is not successful in that the database does not reflect that the record was ever added. [Code]

View 8 RepliesI have been following a tutorial in a book Vb 2005 Jumpstart Ch 4..Anyway I have followed the books code exactly and the program runs.It connects to Amazons web service and allows the user to search and display books, the application also allows the user to save the titles that they wish by clicking an Add Title button, when the user does this the current focus title is saved to the database and can be viewed off line.When I hit the add title the record gets saved as I can hit the catalog button which opens a new form with a datagrid that has all the titles I just saved in it!! But when I close the app and run it again the catalog is gone?? back to no records again?Now ive never worked with SQL databases before and this is me just having a go at .Net so I have no idea whats wrong or where to look.[code]
