OK this is my third thread on TCP problems and the first two I managed to figure out for myself within 10 mins of posting before anyone had a chance to reply so lets see if it works again - failing that if you have any advice I'd be most grateful.
I have a server app which should be sitting and listening for messages on one port (4000) and then processing requests and sending data back via another TCP client on a different port (4001). My code is based on someone else's example and it works fine sending and receiving the first message, however after the first message the listener seems to stop listening and never gets any further messages.
Am I misunderstanding how they work? After I get the first message do I need to close the listener and create a new one, or should the same listener keep working until I close it?

I have a windows form which to summarize lets the user open a file containing 32 bit hashes, then search for one of them. The hash is then converted to its string representation. The application is giving the results I would expect but I'd like to make it execute faster than it does now; some files can be pretty big > 100 MB.
I'm doing the file read using a BackgroundWorker object to display progress updates and ensure that the UI is available during the process. But for that i need to add a System.Threading.Sleep(1) instruction in the loop; otherwise the application freezes with big files. And System.Threading.Sleep(1) creates a noticeable lag. Any suggestions on how to make searches fast without freezing the UI? Getting speeds comparable to hex editor programs for example.
I am having trouble with XMLTextWriter.WriteStartElement throwing an exception:

when trying to write the second element in my XML document. This error comes back as "The Writer is closed". I have not closed it, so I am guessing it has fallen out of scope?? I have created a class to write an XML file using XMLTextWriter as an object within my class. Below is the relevant code. I'm working with a disconnected dataset that is NOT using a database. I'm maintaining an external file in xml format using the ReadXML and WriteXML methods of the dataset. I have a Holiday table structure in the dataset with the following columns:

-HolidayName
When the app starts I read the Holidays into the dataset. I then check the Holiday table to see if any of the Holidays are in the past. If so, I want to delete the given Holiday row from the Holiday datatable. I'm trying to convert code from Delphi to .Net. I'm stuck on one line:

I am working on this app and decided to add a listbox to the form since a listbox can contain objects. The objects I decided to add are buttons. When I launch my app. I see the listbox and what appears to be where the buttons are but no text is being displayed. Maybe I am missing the point of the listbox. Can I have buttons in the listbox and have the text display for the bottons?

I've made a listbox and imported multiple paths into it (writing the app in VB.NET 2.0).For example:
C:Path1file1.txt
C:Path2file2.txt
C:Path3file3.txt (varies depending on what the user selects)
I need to be able to grab each path seperately without having to get the user to select a particular item so i can do a batch of all the paths selected.
I'm using the following to add a list from a txt into a listbox, which works perfectly.

I have set the "DisplayMember" property of the Listbox to "Text" and "ValueMember" to "ID".Everything works fine when I add a new item to the list, but when I edit the item and change the "Text" value, it is changing in the object but the Listbox still just showes the original value.I have tried calling ".Refresh" and ".Update" to see if they worked, but made no difference.I usually use VB6 for prototyping programs but decided to use VB.NET for this one. Did not realise VB.NET got shot of the "ItemData" property in the ListBox control.
