Lets say I have a Listview which has one column named "Cost" where ill be a Currency Value which needs to carry the symbol for example "BsF. 22,34" or "$. 22,34". Lets say I need to apply aritmetics with those values after whats the best way to store em or at least ignore the symbol when using arithmetic on them?
View 3 RepliesNeed to get this done: To have just ONE cell that is defined in a dropdown list with several (various) countries currencies, and each time when I choose a currency on this dropdown, EVERY cell in my worksheet which has a figure formatted with CURRENCY will automatically turn into that currency selected only in that dropdown cell. I have imagined whether if there was a solution, that the monetary cells do not necessarily have to be first in CURRENCY format, or do they have to? Anyway, I do nt know how to accomplish this, Without the solution, I have still at this time just set all the cells with monetary amounts in simple NUMBER format, ie. no CURRENCY SYMBOL at all, till I find a solution ..
View 1 Replieshow can I display the EURo) sign instead of a question mark in a console application on german windows XP SP3 system?(untested code due to lack of access to a XP system)

EUR displayed as question mark

View 4 RepliesI want to format several textboxes so that they would accept a decimal number like 2356.90. Now, let me first describe to you how I designed the designers view.. or rather I am going to attach what I did.
Ok... first the textbox SUM OF THE BILLS i would want to display two decimal point places.. so that when a person clicks the click for sum button, it calculates the sum of the bills and places it in the textbox. I got this code so far...
Code:
Private Sub txtJanuaryBillsSum_TextChanged(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtJanuaryBillsSum.TextChanged
txtJanuaryBillsSum.Text = Format(Convert.ToDouble(txtJanuaryBillsSum.Text), "####.##")
[Code]....
Everything was fine and it was running ok but when i added the code for the format of the textbox I suddenly got that error.
I am working on a VB application in Visual Studio 2005. I have a number of fields where the user needs to enter currency amounts. I am using a MaskedTextBox with the following currency mask. msktxtAssessedVal.Mask = "$ #######.99"
The problem that I am having is that when the users type in the value, the cursor always starts at the leftmost position and appears to force that many digits. The typical data values can vary anywhere between 9,999,999.99 and 20,000.00. If the users do NOT have a value that has 7 digits left of the decimal point, they need to move the cursor to the correct position before they start typing in the value. These users are used to quickly typing in their data, then tabbing to the next field so the current behavior is not acceptable.
Does anyone know if there is a way for the maskedtextbox or any text control to detect where the user types the decimal and format the data accordingly?
this is my code in VB.NET 2008 and it works as the result, i can input starts from 1.00 until 99.99
but i need more than this i want the textbox automatic validate the input as i typed in the textbox
example: i typed "1000" then the textbox will write "1,000"
example: i typed "10000.99" then the textbox will write "10,000.99"
nb: it has to disabled from typing ","

View 3 RepliesOn a form I have a listbox and a textbox bound to the same dataset. When I click an item on the listbox the information changes on the textbox accordingly. The textbox is bound to a currency value. I have been using the following string to format it.PriceTextBox.Text = result.ToString("C")It works but I am having problem figuring where to put this. I have one under Validating event of the textbox which works fine when the user is entered in the text box.The problem comes when the form first load the Listbox and the first value is display in the text box it is not formatted. I have to select another item on the list before the textbox format works.
View 6 RepliesI've searched for the solution for this however 'answers'i've found have perhaps been a little more than I've needed. basically i have 2 textboxes on my form, 'textbox1' is populated by a value from a database, say.. 200.00 on form load. 'textbox2' needs to accept a users value (say 50.00) and then add/subtract that from the value in 'textbox1' when the form's refreshed/submitted/whatever
whats the syntax involved in this process, i've seen efforts involving parse, 'Cint' etc but need to check there isn't some ridiculously easy way of doing this..

View 4 RepliesI am trying to create a currency converter that will convert currency. I have a text box to enter the amount and 2 combo boxes to choose which currency you are converting from and to.
I am using a webservice site XML that contains the conversions.
The problem is I cannot get the display to work properly.
As the title says I have a form with many databound textboxes. some of these boxes have data in them and some are empty. I need to add them altogether, so far all of the conversion methods I have tried err out when they run into an empty string, except Val, but then Val won't handle the string with a $ in it. I've tried decimal.parse which handles the $ but not the empty string. So I seem to be in circle that I can't get out of.
View 2 RepliesI have a form where a number of textboxes are programmatically created within a flowLayoutPanel and named by adding together 2 strings.

I have an application that does not load a main form. My start up object is Sub Main. I am not using the application framework. I have several classes that handle different parts of the program.
objAlerts is the main one being used for this issue I am having.
This is how they are referenced in the main program class.
CODE:
This is the unfinished objAlert
CODE:
My issue is that the windows (alert.Show) open in a frozen state where the mouse pointer displays the hoursglass and the window does not respond. The windows show in the list of objects no problem.
Is there a special way that I should be opening these? I can open windows on the main class no problem.
I read that <form>.invoke(alert) might work, but there is no invoke on the main class according to VB.
I am thinking this might be a threading issue, but I don't know how to fix it because this is the first program that I have made using a Sub Main instead of a form.
