Forms :: Validate Currency And Numeric Using KeyPress?
Oct 21, 2010
this is my code in VB.NET 2008 and it works as the result, i can input starts from 1.00 until 99.99
but i need more than this i want the textbox automatic validate the input as i typed in the textbox
example: i typed "1000" then the textbox will write "1,000"
example: i typed "10000.99" then the textbox will write "10,000.99"
nb: it has to disabled from typing ","
I would like to know that how am i going to validate the data inside a currency field to see whether its format is correct or not ?How am i going to reload the data when an action is canceled ? For example, when i click the cancel button, a message box will pop up and ask the user whether he/she want to cancel the action. When the user click yes, the action will be cancel and the data inside a database will automatically display inside the text boxes, as if everything is start from the beginning
I want to validate a textbox.text value to a currency. For example if a user enters $154.45 i want the value to be 154.45 or if the enter USD154.40 I want that to be invalid. how can I do this? basically check that the input is all numbers.
I know you can validate textbox text by using the keypress events. But the form i'm working on has multiple groupboxes with multiple textboxes. So rather than having a sub routine to validate every groupbox, i was wanting to have just the one keypress event that handles the textbox entries, and depending on the textbox calls a specific validation routine.[code]
I have two Numeric "spinner" boxes on my form called, nrcStartNumber and nrcEndNumber. The valid range for these boxes is 1-9999 (set for the controls at design). My question is what is the proper way to validate the two controls against each other such that the nrcEndNumber is always greater than nrcStartNumber? A similar question would be the same thing with two datetimepickers (formatted to time) such that the end time is always after the start time?
it should take either decimal values or integers and max length is 16if it takes decimal value as input then it should contain only 14 digits in decimal place and 2 digits in fraction part eg(1234567.12-valid) but (12345678.123 - invalid) and also(123456.12345- invalid)
The code below allows me to enter an integer in to the text boxes, but if I enter a decimal in any it throws an error. How do I validate decimal values in addition to integers?
Private Function numeric() As Boolean 'validate text boxes as numeric Dim blnnumeric As Boolean = False
I'm trying to validate input boxes for numeric value and range value. If I validate for either numeric value OR range value there is no error (for example, comment out one of the validation statements), but if both statements are present and I enter "a" I get an error "Conversion from string "a" to type 'Double' is not valid." Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
i am use vb 2003 windows app with access 2003 database i want this code to check for numeric input only in the last text box CompanyProdPriceTxBx.Text
this is my
Private Sub SaveCompanyProdbtn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveCompanyProdbtn.Click Dim rep As Integer If CompanyProdNameTxBx.Text = "" Then rep = MsgBox("Please Input Product Name", MsgBoxStyle.Critical)
I have the following bit of code to validate two text box entries, and it catches both text boxes individually just fine but my question is: Where would I put the code if the text box entries are both valid?
Dim intExponent, intBase As Integer
Dim ErrNum As Int16 = 1
If Not Integer.TryParse(txtExponentInput.Text, intExponent) _
[CODE]...
I tried a "Case 1" but apparently that doesn't work for some reason...
is there any function to validate if a string has only numerical characters? I can cross character for character and verify if it is a number. But I look for something simpler or if already a function like that exists.
I cannot use IsNumeric or IsDigit because it returns numbers to True with point or comma.
I need only numeric characters (no comma nor points
Dense student here with little sleep here during finals week...I have a text field being read on a button click event (along with lots of other information being read). This field needs to have a number entered.
I either:
1) Force a default value (i.e. - "2")
2) Verify there's something in the field AND that something is numeric...
I wanne make a windows form application. Its a currency converter that can convert EUROS to belgium franks, german marks and the coins off Nederland.it has to be possibel to round the result to zero decimal. I already made the design with the radiobuttons and labels. But I dont know how to make it work. Its also for a assignment.
I am working on a VB application in Visual Studio 2005. I have a number of fields where the user needs to enter currency amounts. I am using a MaskedTextBox with the following currency mask. msktxtAssessedVal.Mask = "$ #######.99"
The problem that I am having is that when the users type in the value, the cursor always starts at the leftmost position and appears to force that many digits. The typical data values can vary anywhere between 9,999,999.99 and 20,000.00. If the users do NOT have a value that has 7 digits left of the decimal point, they need to move the cursor to the correct position before they start typing in the value. These users are used to quickly typing in their data, then tabbing to the next field so the current behavior is not acceptable.
Does anyone know if there is a way for the maskedtextbox or any text control to detect where the user types the decimal and format the data accordingly?
I've searched for the solution for this however 'answers'i've found have perhaps been a little more than I've needed. basically i have 2 textboxes on my form, 'textbox1' is populated by a value from a database, say.. 200.00 on form load. 'textbox2' needs to accept a users value (say 50.00) and then add/subtract that from the value in 'textbox1' when the form's refreshed/submitted/whatever
whats the syntax involved in this process, i've seen efforts involving parse, 'Cint' etc but need to check there isn't some ridiculously easy way of doing this..
I've been encountering this problem. When I add a listbox at my game, all my keypress events and codes doesn't work. But when I remove it, it will work again. I don't know what's the problem. I need the listbox to add strings on it for my game.
I am very new to vb.net, just wonder can I use vb.net to do something like this : I have alphabet from [A][B]...to [z]. When A is clicked, product name that start with "A" and it's price will shown in a table below.
I have created the following piece of code to try and see if the user pushes the 'f1' key, and if they do.
[Code]...
I am not sure if this code works yet because the keypressed event is not triggered when I push a key. Could someone tell me how I can change my code so that it will test what key is pressed, no matter what control on the form has focus?
i know this has to be simple but i can find anything anywhere tonight on how to check if while a textbox has focus if the ctrl+v or ctrl+c was pressed i simply need to use it like such:[code]
I am trying to create a currency converter that will convert currency. I have a text box to enter the amount and 2 combo boxes to choose which currency you are converting from and to.
I am using a webservice site XML that contains the conversions.
The problem is I cannot get the display to work properly.
i created a validation procedure on a textbox_validating event. the procedure goes something like [Code] but somehow it doesn't stop the system from continuing. what happens is on my Save Button where i have. [Code] i'm assuming that when i click the save button, the Textbox1_Validating event is also fired since it also brings up the MessageBox. but then after pressing OK on the MessageBox, it continues to try and Update the DataTable where I get an error from the database saying that the Column does not allow null values.
also when i click Save Button, i noticed that the Textbox1_Validating Event is only fired when the cursor is on that item. basing from this, it seems that the not all Validating Events are fired when an Adapter.Update is executed. what's the best way to validate items? should it be on the Save Button and not on the Validating event of each items?
I am making a project, a database project using vb.net 2005 at front end ans sql server 2005 at back end. i have to validate my form, like for sTUDENT ID, only numbers are acceptable. that what is the way to validate it? the way which i have used is
For i = 0 To maxrows - 1 For h = 1 To maxrows Me.Controls.Item("TextBox" & h).Text = ds.Tables("TestCriteria").Rows(i).Item(0) Me.Controls.Item("NumericUpDown" & h).Value = ds.Tables("TestCriteria").Rows(i).Item(1)
I started editing an existing code (basicaly to learn vb) without any real previous experience. Well let's get to the point;I have a form that gathers data from db ordering by user ID (on click count).I have one DataGridView with a list of user, some have data in db, some have not. I came so far that if I CLICK on a user that have data, all data is dissplayed in 6 dinamyc textboxes. If user has no data inly first (emty) row with 6 dinamyc textboxes is created.
BUT THE POINT IS (my question to you) - I have a button that simultaneously adds a row of dinamyc textboxes bellow and multiplyies textbox04 (name is clickcount & 4) and textbox05 and displays the result in textbox06.I want to add a messagebox that shows if textbox04 & 05 are empty and in that case exits sub. Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'Reset warnings[code].......
I have a question about how to validate a text box with only word inside. Below is my code i use, it's only can detect if number 1 to 9 in single number, but not 11 or 999 or Joanne11 Joa223nne etc. I want it can detect the text box have and number or symbol then will show an error messageBox, else continue.
I'm doing a programming course at college, and I'm making a simple program that finds the mean of three numbers. Making the basic program was easy, but I can't work out how to validate the text boxes so that they only accept numbers. I've Googled, but I haven't been able to find anything. I have a look on the forums here but couldn't find anything either.
