I just finished this application where you enter a five-digit credit card number, with the fifth digit being the check digit. everything seems to work except, I can't seem to get it to determine that any number is "valid". Every 5-digit combination that I enter returns "The credit card number is not valid". Im using visual basic 2008 express

i want a button to perform a function of checking the last digit number in a field of a table in and add a digit to it and display it in a textbox.
View 1 RepliesI'm supposed to write a program that validates an inputted ten digit ISBN number using the check-digit at the end to ensure that the sum is a multiple of eleven. Before calculating this and detecting if the entered number is indeed a valid ISBN, we're required to check the first nine digits and see if they are indeed integers. After this the tenth digit is checked to see if it is "X" (for ten) or 0-9.
With the code I've written it keeps returning false for whether or not the ISBN is valid, even with valid numbers. I feel like its something to do with the hyphens; have I misused the replace function?I'm a little lost on how to make my code work, but I'm fairly certain my logic is okay so far.

View 2 RepliesI would like to know that how am i going to validate the data inside a currency field to see whether its format is correct or not ?How am i going to reload the data when an action is canceled ? For example, when i click the cancel button, a message box will pop up and ask the user whether he/she want to cancel the action. When the user click yes, the action will be cancel and the data inside a database will automatically display inside the text boxes, as if everything is start from the beginning

View 8 RepliesI'm using Visual Studio and table adapters using an Access DB as the backend. I need the minimum 4 digit value. I want to get next available 4 or 5 digit number. And this will change depending upon the users request. Currently I use a table adabpter query. But how would I write a query. I suppose I could do a long iterative loop through all values until I see a 4 digit.But I'm trying to think of something more efficient.

I got most part correctly but the only part isnt working right is when the last 5th digit match the sum number at the last number.

I need a regular expression that can validate that a string is an alphanumeric comma delimited string.
Examples:
123, 4A67, GGG, 767 would be valid.
12333, 78787&*, GH778 would be invalid
fghkjhfdg8797< would be invalid
This is what I have so far, but isn't quite right: ^(?=.*[a-zA-Z0-9][,]).*$
I am calling the function below from an Excel spreadsheet and the conversion from hex to decimal using the VAL function in the "manufacturer" variable below is coming back with a negative value. The VBA edition is 6.5.

I have two Numeric "spinner" boxes on my form called, nrcStartNumber and nrcEndNumber. The valid range for these boxes is 1-9999 (set for the controls at design). My question is what is the proper way to validate the two controls against each other such that the nrcEndNumber is always greater than nrcStartNumber? A similar question would be the same thing with two datetimepickers (formatted to time) such that the end time is always after the start time?
View 5 Repliesit should take either decimal values or integers and max length is 16if it takes decimal value as input then it should contain only 14 digits in decimal place and 2 digits in fraction part eg(1234567.12-valid) but (12345678.123 - invalid) and also(123456.12345- invalid)

I'm trying to validate input boxes for numeric value and range value. If I validate for either numeric value OR range value there is no error (for example, comment out one of the validation statements), but if both statements are present and I enter "a" I get an error "Conversion from string "a" to type 'Double' is not valid." Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

is there any function to validate if a string has only numerical characters? I can cross character for character and verify if it is a number. But I look for something simpler or if already a function like that exists.
I cannot use IsNumeric or IsDigit because it returns numbers to True with point or comma.
I need only numeric characters (no comma nor points

2) Verify there's something in the field AND that something is numeric...
I'm looking for a decimal to alphanumeric number base converter library in Visual Basic that does not use recursion. [url]...
which includes a demo app but discovered that it uses recursion. The problem with it using recursion became apparent when I attempted to integrate the library into my own Visual Studio Express 2010 Visual Basic project: I got a stack overflow exception.
Now I could consider increasing the size memory allocated for the stack but it might be hard to determine what this would be, given that the recursion depth might vary depending on the value to be converted.
How I could retrieve the single digits of a 4 digit number to manipulate them in my own way to encrypt the 4 digit number to my liking. Here's what I have to do; take a 4 digit number, add 7 to each digittaking the result and dividing by 10 leaving only the remainder. Then swap the first digit with the third, and swap the second with the fourth digit.

View 8 RepliesI need to round like this:
12 -> 10
152 -> 200
1538 -> 2000
25000 -> 30000
etc.
Twisting my head, but can't see how to make this. Must work for any n number of digits. Anyone got an elegant method for it?
I have to do one project like : 1.Complete the code to convert a 3 digit number to Text (Number > 19) 2.Adding suitable conditional statements modify to code to support the whole range of 3 digit numbers.
