The code below allows me to enter an integer in to the text boxes, but if I enter a decimal in any it throws an error. How do I validate decimal values in addition to integers?

is there any function to validate if a string has only numerical characters? I can cross character for character and verify if it is a number. But I look for something simpler or if already a function like that exists.
I cannot use IsNumeric or IsDigit because it returns numbers to True with point or comma.

I have two Numeric "spinner" boxes on my form called, nrcStartNumber and nrcEndNumber. The valid range for these boxes is 1-9999 (set for the controls at design). My question is what is the proper way to validate the two controls against each other such that the nrcEndNumber is always greater than nrcStartNumber? If I validate for either numeric value OR range value there is no error (for example, comment out one of the validation statements), but if both statements are present and I enter "a" I get an error "Conversion from string "a" to type 'Double' is not valid." I either:
1) Force a default value (i.e. - "2")
2) Verify there's something in the field AND that something is numeric...

This client's primary developer is out on indefinite (likely permanent) medical leave and I'm now filling in until they bring in a full timer (as I'm a contractor here). My current task is to add some functionality to a the VB.Net code they purchased. I'm finding practices and techniques in the code that absolutely baffle me and can't make the code do what I want. I'm starting to wonder if it's me and was hoping to get some thoughts on the code I've encountered.
For example: Setting a variable to accept the result of a function by calling the function with many parameters, clearing the parameters in the function, setting them to some value, calling another function with those new values, then never using the values returned by the functions. I'll add a code snippet in the first comment since this is already getting long.
I have a function where I am performing a lot number of database operations inside a Sub. The operation when called directly like:ExecProcess()
takes about 11 seconds to run.However, if I create a Delegate, and call the sub using BeginInvoke(), the very same process takes over 40 seconds to execute.Here's the threaded code:

View 9 RepliesI have a datagridview with 12 columns and 30 rows I want to use as a scoreboard for a game (no need to input or save data). Columns are for the players and rows for the scores of each turn played. Say player1 has a score of 10 I type it in in his column in row1, the 10 should show up in a label as his total. His next turn his score is 100, type it in row2 and the label should show 110 as total. Hope I am clear enough, is there anyone able to give an idea on how to do this (in code if possible)?

I use GridView to show/edit data in the database. In the GridView there are two columns called mark1 and mark2. What I want to do is when user clicks update, the program should check if the values entered at mark1 and mark2 sum to 100.
