View 3 RepliesI have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
View 18 RepliesI am creating a program that allows a user to view a list of foods in a combo box, add that food unto a list box, and adds all of the calories of that food together. When the user highlights their select food, the program automatically shows the amount of calories for that particular food in a text box. The program is getting the food and calorie information from an access database. I managed to get all of the food calories to add up properly, however, I ran into a problem. Sometimes, well, most of the time, when I select certain foods from the combo box, the program automatically reselects another random food, usually a food that begins with either an A, B, or C. Also, the other random food that the program chooses usually has the same amount of calories as the food I originally wanted to choose. I have over 6,000 items in the database. I don't understand why this is happening. This is what my code looks like for the button that adds each food to the list box:

How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.

Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.

I have a program which puts an icon in the notification area and has a menu associated with it available by right clicking on the icon. I want the menu items to be selected by single left clicks but I also want the user to be able to single left click on the icon itself to do some other functionality.
Here's the problem - the single click on the menu first fires the notifyicon1_click() routine and then the menuitem1_click() routine. How do I know in the notifyicon1_click() whether it has been called from a menu click or a click on the icon itself?

Is it possible to create a windows application in VB to take form input of a text box and put that to a sharepoint server as new list item?I want an exe that when ran, opens to a form with a text box or two and a submit button, that creates a new list item on a sharepoint list.I am using VS 2005 , code in VB. I have the DisplayMember set to FirstName, and obviously only display the First Name of the contact in the ListBox. Is there an easy way to change it so that it displays the First and Last names? When I debug the code is VS2008 I can see each time that the list.add is performed every other item in the list being changed to the one just added. Here is the code I running. Basically what i want is a program which can save single records, which can hold data added in other text boxes, or indeed take the data from the list view boxes which is the intended output. I want to be able to save that data, then be able to Open it up again at a later date, and even modify it.
enabled me to save the three ways to identify a single record, the index number, company name and the date it was added. However I now need a way to save the data entered in my other forms to these single records.

how to set the value of the text that is displayed for each item of a list control, such as a checkbox list, but really this applies to most list controls, not just the checklistbox control.
I have a checklistbox control,

that I usually want to populate with a list of task names. I call the add method to add a Task object to the list. I know that if I override the ToString method, whatever value is returned by that function will be displayed as the text for the list item.
However, in rare situations, I want to display something else other than just the name. For example, perhaps I want to display the name and the value of another property, such as the value of the Boolean property "Optional" shown in parenthesis following the name.
The best that I can think of is to define a property which is set in the GUI layer and then used by the ToString function to determine how it should behave when called. If the controlling property is set to one value, the ToString will return the Name, else it will return the Name followed by the value of the Optional flag. This seems a little disjoint a kludged to me.
The other alternative which seems a little overkill is to define a new class which inherits from Task, for example TaskOptional, which overrides the Tostring method on the base class. In this subclass, the ToString function would return the Name/Optional flag value. However, this, too, seems a little nuts to have to come up with a new class just to modify how the text is being displayed in the presentation layer. I feel that I should be able to control this in the presentation layer without changing the business object or creating a new derived object.
What is the best way to accomplish this?
