Sep 6, 2009I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

I have been working on this a while and I am at a standstill, I was given a function to clear the form everytime it calculates but I don't know how to implement it, I am new to VB. Here is what I have so far:

I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. Clock - UTC - Give The Users Current Time Zone/local Time

2 timers
2 labels
1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time
2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time
Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")
Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..

Asp.net - Format A Varchar In A Gridview In Military Time To Standard Time
Apr 19, 2012There is a varchar column in the database table in this format of military time 1230 or 1750 or 1320 and that field get populated into a gridview in asp. I need to convert that string to standard time. I have tried the DateFormatString and nothing seems to work.

May 1, 2012I have built a DLL for changing the default printer to a new value and then setting it back to the original. This DLL will be called from a VBA addon to an ERP product. I think the version of the VBA is 6.3.
I have built a Visual Basic 2008 Dll using a COM component. This generates a DLL and TLB file. Using Regasm.exe from the .net frameworkv2.0.50727 folder to successfully register these components on Windows XP and Window 7 32 bit.
However, when I try to do this on a Windows 7 64 bit system, it fails. After some fiddling around, I was able to get a successful registration using the Regasm.exe in framework64v2.0.50727. But after the successful registration, the VBA project still cannot use the DLL.
When I try to Reference the .tlb file in the VBA project, it is not visible even though the dialog filter is set to dll, tlb.If I try to use late binding by using the getobject and/or createObject method, it fails.
There are two ways to answer this request.1. How do I register my 32 bit COM dll on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?
2. How do I write a COM DLL component from scratch for a WIndows 7 64 bit machine using Visual Basic 2008 ( or 2010. I will upgrade if necessary)?

Nov 20, 2010I'm buying a new computer this week and the one I want has Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit. I program in VB.NET using VS2008. If I write a program and compile on this 64 bit windows, will it run in 32 bit? I did some reading and from what I understand is if it is not using any specific 64 bit drivers I should be good. I'm not doing anything fancy that I know of as far as drivers. I just wanted to see what everyone's past experience has been.
