I am trying to get a list of dates from a provided StartDate and EndDate in my database, and use these dates to link to dates in a database (to display another variable on the y-axis of the chart) and to populate the x-axis of a chart (with the list of dates). Is it possible to get a list of dates in VB and pass them into a chart this way?

I can do this on the SQL side or the code side. I have Linq at my disposal if I need it. The table doesn't need to be compiled by SQL. This will happen dynamically on a website and should be as efficient as possible.I don't want to have to iterate through each and look for breaks in contiguous days if I don't have to.

am using sql 2005 and vb 2008.i need to compare dates and select matching records betweem a selected date range.say records between 11/13/2010 and 11/20/2010.e.thing is working ok except when it comes to selecting dates between 11/1/2010 and 11/9/2010.this is happening because when am retrieving the dates from database,its being retrieved in the format 11/01/2010 instead of 11/1/2010 and so it reports no records found,and knowing the limits of sql 2005 this is the only way i can retrieve the date. When user stores a record, I need to make sure dates don't overlap.My simple code checks date ranges within a specific record (e.g. user enters 9/16/2011 or 10/21/2011, I throw an exception.)But, on the slim chance a user gets creative (e.g. 10/14/2011 - 10/23/2011 or even 10/14/2011 to 11/16/2011), now they have circumvented my check.BTW, the user could enter 10/14/2011 to 10/23/2011 if they were editing the record that contained values 10/15/2011 - 10/22/2011.So, I'm trying to solve this riddle with a linq query. However, what I have isn't working exactly right.

I'm using two datetimepicker controls to set the start and end dates for a range of dates I'm searching for.I want to make sure that the start date selected is not greater than the end date. This code works, but it runs the messagebox prompt twice for some reason. I've tried to ignore it from doing this, but it's not working. Can someone tell me what's wrong?

I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?
I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work

Now i need to get "Recent Balance" which i am getting using the following Query Select Balance from myTable where TransDate = (Select Max(TransDate) from myTable) This query is giving me proper result if there is only one entry per day like below

I'm asking this because I encountered an error when querying in MS SQL SERVER 2005. It says "The conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted to in an out-of-range smalldatetime value." I thought it was the casting or conversion problem. I've observed the SQL when transacting and I found no difference with my code.
So then, I just figured it out that my date exceeded the number of days of the April month.

I would like to select transaction id based from its creation date. All transactions are displayed on form load event on a datagrid. The select function should be executed on 2 datetimepicker (the first should be the start date, the last should be the end date).So there are three controls on a form, 2 datetimepicker and a datagrid. I managed to load all transactions into a datagrid, and managed to select/filter those transaction based on id, but not date.the table is called 'transaction_details', it contains 'transaction_id', 'transaction_date', and few other columns. transaction_id is the primary key.
