Feb 8, 2009I created a script for caching some images my program needs, so they aren't downloaded from the web everytime. But the cache folder is getting big, and it's getting big fast. It's not really the plan to have a cache of 1Gb or something like that, so I would like to create something like this to set the maximum size:
But I don't really know were to start. Sure I can create some check, and if the maximum is exceeded, remove the whole map, or the oldest files. But maybe the oldest files are the one's used the most.

(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) Basically what it is designed to do is look for a directory, if that exists then look for a file in that directory. If both = True then it should open the folder to browse the files. I believe the issue is with the "Program Files" being 2 words since the script runs using a root path, but I'm not sure how to format the path correctly to make it work?

Apr 15, 2011I am writing a program to do backups and it will have syncing capabilities. It will be similar to Microsoft's SyncToy but it will have much more flexibility and "group" backup options etc.I am using VB.Net 2010 to write the program. The problem I need help with is the efficient comparing of a source file to the destination file when the only difference between a file is the name. (Working on the "Contribute" method of syncing a folder")In other words if I have a backup folder with a bunch of backed up files and folders from a master source folder and I change the name of one of the files in the master folder, but do nothing else to it, how can I tell that the renamed file is the same as the original named file in the destination folder. In this scenario I would want to rename the destination file to the new name it was given in the master folder instead of just copying the renamed file to the back up folder and ending up with duplicate files of different names needlessly.

Jul 27, 2009how to get the "size on disk" value for some folders. Getting the "size" is not a problem but in this case, this folder has the "compress content to save disk space" enabled. This "size on disk" is really important to find as some folders on the disk have quotas and checking only on the "normal" size gives some values that are exceeding the quota. i.e. quota is 45 MB. Folder size is 47 MB. Folder "size on disk" is 38 MB. Based on the first "size", no more file can be added. Based on the second one, not true.

There is a label on the form. I drag files to this label(its backcolor is black[0,0,0]). What I want is for the filesize to be checked. I already have the uploading to ftpcode, I just want to know if the file is above my limit I set. (250mb per file)

Jul 8, 2010I like to compress the xmldata before the data is provided to the client as an excel file. I am trying to compress and deliver it as a .zip file. its not working Here's my code below. I tried compressing it, converting it to bytes etc etc. The issue with below code is, the XSL transformation is not happening properly and the output excel file is raw xml with some .net exception at the end. (that's what I see on the .xls file that's downloaded at the end) Before I started working on compression my below code was working fine that gives properly formatted excel file from the xml input. the excel file is so nice you can't even tell it was from XML.
